The Wizengamot and More
~The Next Day~
~Hadrian’s POV~
Hadrian flooed to Malfoy Manor where he was meeting Marvolo. He exited the floo and saw Lucius.
“He is in the room three doors down to your left,” Lucius said. Hadrian nodded and went to the room. When he got there, he opened the door and entered. He saw Marvolo sitting by a desk with a lot of paperwork. Marvolo looked up.
“Hadrian. Not that it's not wonderful to see you, but shouldn’t you be at Hogwarts?” Marvolo asked.
Hadrian shrugged. “Probably, but it's not like they can stop me. Plus, I don’t want to miss this meeting.”
“What if Dumbledore tries to get you removed from the meeting?” Marvolo asked.
“He can try, but won’t succeed. As the head of several houses, it is my right to be at the Wizengamot. Age doesn’t matter,” Hadrian answered. Marvolo nodded. He scribbled on the sheet of paper in front of him before standing up and exiting the room. Hadrian followed after him. They went back to the room with the floo. Hadrian saw Lucius as well as a few others.
“Are we ready to leave yet?” Marvolo asked. Lucius and the others nodded. “Hadrian, you should try to arrive a few minutes after us.” Hadrian nodded.
Marvolo, Lucius, and the others all flooed to the Wizengamot. After a few moments, Hadrian did the same.
Hadrian stepped out of the floo and made his way to the Wizengamot, ignoring all the looks he was getting. He entered the Wizengamot. A few people rolled up their sleeves, and he nodded. Hadrian went straight towards his faction.
“Lord Peverell-Potter, it's lovely to see you again. I was under the impression that we would not see you till the end of the school year,” Someone said.
“Lord?”
“Oh! I forgot to introduce myself. I am Lord Robert Shaqui, Lord of the most noble house of Shaqui. I am the current head of the Neutral Faction,” He said warmly. Hadrian smiled his polite smile.
“Lovely to meet you. I thought the bills up for this session were extremely important and I wish to make my opinion known physically,” Hadrian replied. Lord Shaqui nodded.
“Lord Peverell-Potter, nice to see you again,” Another voice said. Hadrian turned around and saw Lady Zabini.
“Lady Zabini,” Hadrian greeted.
“Are you here for the “New Direction Bill” as well?” She asked. Hadrian nodded.
“What are your thoughts on the bill?” A new voice asked. Hadrian turned to the source of the voice. “Lord Jayden Barnes, Lord of the most ancient and noble house of Barnes. Pleased to make your acquaintance.”
“I personally do not agree with the bill. What about you?” Hadrian asked.
“Really? Personally, I think it is a wonderful way to fill unused seats while introducing new blood into the Wizengamot,” Lord Barnes replied.
“Yes, but its never been done before-”
“So then we are making history!” Lord Barnes interrupted.
“It's never been done before for a reason. People have had these seats in their families for generations. Just because those seats aren’t filled right now, doesn’t mean that no one will ever fill those seats,” Hadrian explained.
“But those families are dead. They’re gone,” Lord Barnes retorted.
“If there was truly no one to take up the seats, they wouldn’t be there. They would have either merged with another seat or assigned to another,” Hadrian replied.
“What do mean?” Lord Barnes asked.
“The Wizengamot chamber is magical, like Hogwarts. It knows when a family has died out and will find some way to use the seats. Since all those seats are still there, that means there is still at least one person eligible to take the seat,” Hadrian explained.
“How do you know that?” Lord Barnes asked.
“I’ve read it in several books,” Hadrian answered.
“Why does it matter whether or not a few seats get sent to someone? It's only going to happen to one or two,” Lord Barnes asked. Hadrian gave him a questioning look.
“Only a ¼ of all Wizengamot seats are being used at the moment. Some of the seats that are not filled belong to three of the four Hogwarts founders. Once a seat is given to a new family, there is no way to return it to its original. Moreover, there is the fact that many know they are heirs to the unclaimed seats but don’t set a proxy for them because they don’t know anything about the political landscape. You would be forcing those people to make a choice that they might regret,” Hadrian explained.
“Okay, but what if the family that gets them is more deserving?” Lord Barnes asked.
“Why do we have the right to change the seat assignments that are centuries old? Who are we to say ‘They don’t deserve that seat’? Who are we to say ‘Because this person had a bad person’, they don’t deserve a vote and in doing so, none of their descendants deserve a vote? Also, this committee that bill will put together to decide who gets what seats doesn’t have an expiration date. If the bill passes, then everyone will constantly be at risk of losing their seats. Furthermore, who’s to say that they won’t try to influence policies being made by giving people whom they agree with lots of power of people whom they don’t agree with no power?” Hadrian asked.
“But they did that at the founding of the Wizengamot, didn’t they?” Lord Barnes questioned.
“No, they didn’t. The number of seats per level and the families who are on the level were all decided by Lady Magic,” Hadrian answered.
“Lady Magic doesn’t exist,” Lord Barnes replied.
“If you don’t believe she exists, that's fine. That being said, it was decided in a way where no one disagreed with it. This committed, can’t do that. Clearly, there was something done where everyone who got seats or didn’t get seats wasn’t mad about what they got. We will never know. It is recorded to be Lady Magic who decided but if Lady Magic doesn’t exist like you said, then they must have done something so that no one tried to start a rebellion because they were unhappy with their seat allotment. There is no way that this committee that they would put together can do the same,” Hadrian said.
The Wizengamot was quiet. Almost all members of the Wizengamot were listening in on their conversation. The gavel was banged signaling the start of the Wizengamot session. Lucius sat down in his seat.
“Lord Peverell-Potter, I presume you are going to claim your seats again,” Lucius said. Hadrian nodded.
“I-”
“I apologize for being late again. I had to chat with a few friends and lost track of time,” A voice said loudly. Hadrian looked at the man who spoke. Dumbledore. Lucius glared at Dumbledore.
“If you cannot get here on time, perhaps you should invest in a watch, or a book about alarm spells?” Lucius asked. Dumbledore glared at Lucius. He turned to sit in his section but caught sight of Hadrian.
“Harry, my boy! What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be studying for your end-of-year exams? Or doing homework? I assure you I will take very good care of your seats,” Dumbledore said.
“Lord Peverell-Potter, Lord Dumbledore. We are at the Wizengamot, not Hogwarts. Even if we were at Hogwarts I have never permitted you to call me by my first name which is still not Harry. Also, I have studied for those exams and finished my homework and feel prepared for them. Another thing, why would you take care of my seats? You are not my proxy,” Hadrian questioned. Dumbledore looked like he swallowed a lemon drop whole. “Back to what we were doing before we were rudely interrupted. I, Hadrian James Peverell-Potter, claim the Peverell seats and the Potter seats. So mote it be.”
“Now, first on the ballot is the “New Direction Bill”. Are there any questions before we vote or issues with the bill?” Lucius asked. No one moved.
“In that case, all those who are for the bill?” He asked. The majority of the Light Faction raised their wands.
“All those against?” Lucius asked. The Dark and Neutral Factions raised their wands as well as a few from the light.
“The bill does not pass,” Lucius said.
~Who knows how long later~
As soon as the Wizengamot ended, Hadrian flooed to Malfoy Manor, wanting to talk to Marvolo.
“You manage to convince a good portion of them with that little debate of yours with Barnes,” Marvolo commented.
“Who is he anyway?” Hadrian asked.
“A Dumbledore follower, like the rest of the people on the light side. I swear if Dumbledore said to jump off a cliff, he would do it,” Marvolo said. Hadrian nodded. “When are you planning on heading back to Hogwarts?”
“Probably in a few hours,” Hadrian replied.
“In that case, want to duel?” Marvolo asked. Hadrian smiled and nodded.
Quick Authors Note - For simplicity's sake and my sanity, when they are casting spells, Hadrian’s spells will be italicized, and Marvolo’s spells with be bolded. Everything else will be the same as before. There will also be a spells dictionary at the end if you are like me and want to know what the spells do but are too lazy to look it up. Keep in mind that the spells will be simplified.
Hadrian and Marvolo went to Malfoy Manor’s dueling room and got ready.
“Ready?” Marvolo asked. Hadrian nodded.

Incendio Tria Hadrian conjured a shield made of fire.
Incarcerous The spell hit the shield and vanished
Locomotor Wibbly Marvolo dodged.
Imperio Hadrian froze Incarcerous Hadrian snapped out of the imperius just in time to get hit with the binding charm and fell to the floor.
Marvolo smiled before undoing the spell. “You are very good for a first year,” He commented.
“Thanks,” Hadrian replied.
“How did you do that thing with the fire?” Marvolo asked.
“I’m an elemental with a preference towards fire,” Hadrian answered. Marvolo nodded. The duo started to heal their injuries, though there weren’t many.
