Why You Don’t Steal From the Goblins
Hadrian’s POV -
Over the next week or so, Hadrian learned everything he could about Magical Britain. Hadrian was practically living in the library of the townhouse.
“There’s mail here for you Lord Black,” Kreacher said before popping out of the library, leaving a letter on the table next to Hadrian. Hadrian opened the letter. It had the Gringotts seal on it.
Dear Lord Peverell-Potter,
It has come to our attention that there are some discrepancies in your account. Please come to Gringotts at your earliest convenience to iron them out.
Sincerely,
Griphook, manager of the Peverell vaults.
Hadrian sighed. “Kreacher!” He yelled.
“Yes Lord Black?” Kreacher asked.
“I’m going to go to Gringotts and will most likely be there for the day, don’t bother cooking me lunch today,” Hadrian said. Kreacher nodded and left the room with a pop.
Hadrian went to the entrance hall and flooed to Gringotts. Having gotten slightly better at his floo landings, he landed with both his feet on the ground. He walked over to the teller's desk.
“May your gold ever flow, I have a meeting with Griphook,” Hadrian said curtly. In the book he read from the Black Library, it said that being curt and polite was considered respectful to the goblins.
“May your coffers never empty. Follow me,” the teller told him before getting off his chair and heading towards a hall. They entered the same room Hadrian went to before. The teller left and Griphook was already sitting behind the desk.
“May you gold ever flow Lord Peverell-Potter. I’m glad you received my summons. There appear to be thieves from your vaults. We will need to deal with them. Here are the results from the accounting,” Griphook said before handing him a piece of paper. Hadrian read over the paper.

Illegal Marriage contract between Ginerva Molly Weasley and Harry James Potter signed by Molly Francesca Weasley (née Prewitt) and Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore.
Fury burned in Hadrian’s eyes. How dare those bastards! I’ll… Hadrian suddenly became aware of the magical power leaking from him and got it back under control. There was no reason to shoot the messenger after all.
“What can you do to make them pay?” Hadrian asked the goblin.
“I can’t do anything, it's what you can do that matters. All you need to say is I, Hadrian James Peverell-Potter hereby reclaim everything illegally taken from my vaults, so mote it be,” Griphook explained with a vicious smile on his face.
“I, Hadrian James Peverell-Potter, hereby reclaim everything illegally taken from my vaults, so mote it be,” Hadrian said. A rush of magic power left the bank, retrieving the stolen goods.
“You’ll also want to void the illegal contract I presume? Keep in mind even if you don’t void it, it will not be magically binding.” Griphook said.
“What do you mean?” Hadrian asked.
“You must use your true first name for a magical contract to be binding,” Griphook explained.
“Oh, I’ll void the contract now,” Hadrian replied.
“Then just say ‘I Hadrian James Peverell-Potter, ask magic to judge this great injustice. so mote it be,’” Griphook said. Hadrian repeated what Griphook said and watched as the words on the accounting page vanished. Two pieces of paper appeared next to the page.

“Missives will be sent to the guilty parties. I will enjoy watching Dumbledore’s temper tantrum,” Griphook said.
“Damm, can you send me the memory?” Hadrian asked as he remembered what the book said about a pensive.
“Of course. Something like this is best shared,” Griphook said.
“May your gold flow,” Hadrian said.
“And may your coffers never empty,” Griphook said. They parted ways and Hadrian went back to the townhouse. Straight to the library.
Albus Dumbledore’s POV -
Albus Dumbledore was scheming. Everything was in place. The stone is hidden in the mirror, the Cerberus is in the third-floor corridor, and Voldemort is inside Hogwarts, with Quirell. The stage was set and the master puppeteer was ready to manipulate his puppets. Granger and the youngest male Weasley were ready for the roles they would play. Admittedly, they didn’t get along as well as Albus had wanted, but Harry would be able to fix that. Suddenly, everything vanished. Everything, from the books on the shelves to the Potter key. Even the invisibility cloak had vanished. An owl flew in from the open window, dropping a letter before leaving. Picking it up, Albus noticed the Gringotts seal on it. He opened it immediately.
To Lord Dumbledore,
It has come to our attention that there are some discrepancies in your account. All transactions have been stopped until you come to the bank.
From,
Gornuk, manager of the Dumbledore vaults.
Albus immediately flooed to Gringotts. He marched over to the teller’s desk and demanded, “I need to speak to the Potter account manager and my own immediately!”
“Third room to the right,” the goblin said, bored. Albus stopped down the hallway leading to the rooms. Slamming the door open, he walked into the room like he owned it.
“Lord Dumbledore, wait a minute for the Potter account manager to arrive,” the goblin said, slightly sneering.
Albus’ face scrunched. He hated waiting. The door soon opened as another goblin walked in.
“Lord Dumbledore, you call?” The Potter account manager sneered.
“I demand you restart the payments,” Albus said angrily.
“As you wish, Lord Dumbledore,” The Dumbledore account manager said.
“And why did you want me here?” The Potter account manager asked, boredly. Though, Albus didn’t bother answering as he walked out of the room, pleased.
Griphook’s POV -
Griphook looked at his fellow account manager, a hint of mischief in their eyes. When he got back to his office, he sent a letter to Lord Peverell-Potter. He had just come back from speaking with the goblin king, Ragnok, for magical Britain.
Hadrian’s POV -
The day after he met with Griphook, Kreacher came in with another letter.
“Thank you Kreacher,” Hadrian said before taking the letter. Kreacher popped out of the room.
Dear Lord Peverell-Potter,
First, here is the memory regarding Lord Dumbledore. Please be aware that he no longer has access to your accounts. Also, after speaking with the goblin king, he has agreed to grant you the title, of friend of the goblins. Should there ever be a time when you need help, we shall answer the call.
Sincerely,
Griphook, manager of the Potter vaults.
Hadrian smiled. He remembered when reading about goblins that to be called a friend was one of the greatest honors bestowed. I must have made quite an impression for Griphook to do this.
And so the days turned into weeks, and soon, it was September 1st. Hadrian flooed to Platform 9 ¾ and got on the train at exactly 10:30. One must never be too early, but being late is disrespectful. Hadrian remembered Kreacher telling him.
