James Potter had been in love with Lily Evans for as long as he could remember. Her emerald eyes, fiery red hair, and enchanting smile made his heart skip a beat every time she walked by. Her constant berating often encouraged him to try harder to make her fall in love. This morning, like all others, he greets lily with a “suave” smile and a “ good morning my beautiful lily flower” which she promptly ignores and ups leaves instead. Through this does nothing to stop the brilliant grin taking over his features. Slotting in between Sirius black and Remus lupin, across from Peter prettigrew, “good morning lads” he starts only to be interrupted by Sirius’s rumble of laughter and choking of “she’s never going to fall for you mate, will you ever give this up” James undeterred quickly complains about potions with the slytherins and how he’s definitely planning to prank them. Remus sighed, nursing his cup of tea as James animatedly shared the news with their group. "Honestly, James, do you ever think before you act? Potions with the Slytherins? It's a disaster waiting to happen."
Sirius, sprawled across the bench with his signature smirk, chimed in, "Come on, Moony, where's your sense of adventure? Pranking Snivellus is worth the risk!"
Peter, on the edge of his seat, squeaked, "I can already picture Snape's face when we pull off the perfect prank. It's going to be legendary!"
Remus couldn't help but roll his eyes. "Legendary, huh? More like a one-way ticket to detention. You know, some of us actually want to stay out of trouble and graduate."
Sirius lightly punched Remus's arm. "Oh, Moony, don't be such a stick in the mud. We're young, we're in Hogwarts, and we should be causing a bit of mayhem here and there."
Remus tried to suppress a smile, knowing it was futile. With these three, mayhem was always inevitable. "Fine, fine. But if we do end up in detention, I'm blaming all three of you."
They laughed, the sound echoing through the great hall, catching the attention of Mila rosewood who entered the hall with Marlene McKinnon.
Mila took a bite of her pancakes and looked at Marlene with curiosity sparkling in her eyes.
"So, Marls, who are they?” she asked, her voice filled with question
Marlene grinned mischievously and leaned in closer. "Ah, the “Marauders" as they call themselves”she began, "the most annoying people on the planet" she drawled “constantly reeking havoc and pranking innocent students” Marlene giggled out knowing the boys could hear her. Mila giggled, finding it hard to imagine the the boys as pranksters. Just as she opened her mouth to say something, a voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Marls, my fabulous darling!" A voice boomed, causing heads to turn. Sirius Black, tall and charming, swooped in and kissed Marlene on the cheek before taking a seat beside them. "I see you've met one of the Marauders. That would be me." He winked.
Mila's eyes widened in surprise, but she couldn't help but be enthralled to be talking to him. “Hello beautiful, I’m Sirius black, and those are my friends, James, Remus, and Peter.” They smiled kindly at her and she waved back. “ hi! I’m Mila I just transferred here” intrigued, James walked over and the boys followed “ transfer student, Ay? we dont get many of those, where ya from Mila?” Marlene snorted, clearly amused by the interaction.
“Ilvermorny” she said kindly “mom got a new job and decided this was a better fit for my education”. James nodded, pleased with the answer and his friends glanced at each other amusedly. his round glasses perched on his nose, “so you’re coming to the first quidditch game tomorrow right?”. “Huh” Mila responded, confused by the sudden change of topic "Quidditch, Mila! The game is tomorrow and I can't wait! Gryffindor is going to win, mark my words!"
“Oh! Yes I hope so, it is my new house after all” all laughed “do you play?” Questioned mila “do I play?!” James exclaimed “I’m the best seeker this school has ever seen” he boast with a smile. “Alright, Alright “ mila and the rest cackled. The group quickly fell into conversation about quidditch. “Did anyone see where lily went?!” James asked out of the blue, head swishing around trying to spot the red headed girl. “Lily?” Mila asked curiously “oh yes! Our roommate, you’re going to love her! You’re both book worms and she’s going to love your tan!” Marlene interjected excitedly. Remus turned confused “you haven’t met your other roommate yet?” Mila responds with a smile “ I just got here at 6:45 and got a private sorting, Marlene is the first person that came up to me” “thank goodness for it, wouldn’t want this precious thing falling into the wrong hands” Sirius teased causing mila to throw her head back in laughter. James couldn’t help but think she was beautiful, anyone could see that, but his heart calls for his lily flower. “Anyways, lily, anyone?” Peter answers immediately this time “I think she was meeting up with snape before class, something about homework” all faces grimaced and mila laughed quietly “snape?” “the worst person on the planet” James groans “ Okkkk got it” mila laughed quietly. “So anyone got potions first?”
Walking through the halls with fast made friends is a new experience for mila, a loner at heart with few friends at her last school, she was a little nerved by the amount of eyes that followed her Frame through the halls “don’t worry” Remus voiced from beside her “your new meat, they’ll get bored in a day or two” he smiled kindly at her, easing her worry’s “is it always like this?” She voiced “we’re kind of exclusive” Sirius spoke “we’re too cool to let others walk with us” he teased, causing mila to calm “so it’s you not me then?” She teased right back. The whole group laughed as they entered the dungeon which hosted the potions classroom, they all took seats. Marlene found lily and joined her. “Uh, where should I sit?” Mila asked “hey join me!” Peter exclaimed “oooh, Pettigrew got a stupid little girlfriend” a snarky voice pitched from behind them. The boys ready to throw all kinds of insults at the greasy haired git, when mila speaks up “ and? What about it? You definitely don’t have a girlfriend by the looks of it, who would walk around with a grease ball?” She snapped. The classroom was silent, well other than “holy fuck” and “you told him” coming from the marauders. The professor walked in so she quickly found her seat while the boys laughed quietly. Feeling the tingle of eyes on her, she looked around and found a smiling James tossing a note her way.
