finally!
Remus and Sirius were certainly a complicated pair. Remus had admitted his love for Sirius months after the start of the 'Remus chats' that James and Sirius shared, and still now, over a year later, neither of them have any idea that the crush is mutual.
It's taken mountains of effort for James to stay out of it, and not lock them both in a room until they sort their shit out, and so far he's succeeded.
There's been the inevitable eye roll here and there when Sirius turns away just as Remus' eyes flick towards him, or Remus is too oblivious to notice Sirius' blatant flirting, but so far James has kept to himself.
Since Regulus' arrival, however, James has discovered the younger Black doesn't have the same subtlety, and is very blunt when it comes to his brother.
On multiple occasions Regulus has simply told Sirius to "Go kiss him and sort this mess out".
Sirius has not. The mess is very much not sorted out.
James hates to admit it, but Regulus' method has been proven to work.
After all, that's how this thing that's happening between him and Regulus started. A kiss in the closet.
James watches carefully as Sirius saunters over to Remus, sitting gently next to him and batting his eyelashes. But Remus doesn't pay attention. Remus doesn't even look up from his book. God, that man has focus.
When he realises he's not getting a reaction like this, Sirius stands back up and sits down again. On Remus' lap. It isn't the first time that's happened, it's nearly a daily occurrence. However, it's the first time it's gone like this.
Remus still doesn't look up, so Sirius gives an experimental shuffle of his hips, much to everyone's shock.
James' mouth drops open, gasping almost inaudibly, watching Sirius do whatever the fuck he's doing. He's obviously been having a number of conversations with his brother, it's obvious that this is one of Regulus' tricks.
Remus' head snaps up, glaring at Sirius. It isn't a harsh glare though. No, it's more rounded at the corners, more of a warmth to it, just enough to shape it slightly. Remus can have some absolutely terrifying stares, but this one is new. Different.
James could sense the tension between the two, so thick you'd have to cut it using a saw. Eyes were connected in a heated glare, and he felt like it was probably a good idea to leave them to it, but he couldn't move.
The pair were hypnotic. Sirius' sharp features mixed in with the rounded curves of Remus', they were made for eachother.
If clothes started to come off, James decided he would sprint out of the room. He really didn't want to be there to witness what would follow that.
Still nothing had happened, they were just staring at eachother. Eyes unmoving, unblinking, like they were trying to take in as much of eachother as they could.
Good for them, they deserve to be happy. After all, that much pining isn't good for a person, James should know that.
The silence was comfortable, but soon became too comfortable. James felt as though something could happen any sudden, and it was most likely Sirius' lips against Remus'. As much as he loved his two best friends, they deserved their privacy.
"Uhm, do you guys want me to like, leave?" He manages to get out, words stumbling. Both heads jerk towards him, nodding furiously.
James practically leaps out of his seat, bounding towards the door. He goes to shut it behind him, but he quickly mutters, "Have fun you two lovebirds..."
Just as the door clicks shut, he sees Remus go a deep shade of red, and Sirius looking incredibly confused, which is normally Remus' thing.
All James can do is chuckle, as he takes the steps two at a time and briskly heads towards the library, hoping to find a certain black haired boy hiding away in there, buried in one of his favourite books.
They needed to talk.
