Problem Child
Sirius stepped into the large bedroom.
The curtains were open but the room was still cast in a large shadow making it feel older than it was.
He stepped towards a chair by the window.
"Mother," he whispered.
Walburga turned to face him but she didn't stand.
"I wished to never see you again and yet here you are," She spat.
"I thought to let you know that Regulus has passed," Sirius ignored her as he continued.
Walburga studied Sirius before taking a breath and looking away.
"Good," She replied.
Sirius gasped.
"How- how could you say that!" He demanded.
Walburga stood up before walking over to Sirius. He took a step back.
"Did I stutter, mutt?"
Sirius swallowed before straightening his back.
"I thought you cared about him," Sirius stammered, "Since you clearly cared so little about me."
"I never cared for any of you," Walburga sneered, "It was my job to produce heirs and that I have done. It's not my fault that my first mistake was y-"
A sharp slap from Sirius cut the insult short.
Walburga stumbled back holding her face.
"I didn't ask you to be my mother. I didn't ask you to care about me! But my brother was your prize! He was the heir, I thought you would at least have some love for him."
Walburga stuttered to create a retort but Sirius held a hand up.
"I'm not finished. Regulus was everything you needed, a perfect robot as I used to say. But I see now that I was foolish to think of you as anything else than a irritating, disgusting woman who did not deserve the title of mother from anyone and I am finished with you. You will get your wish, you will never see me again. But I want you to remember me, your first born and only remaining son!"
With that Sirius walked out of the room. Away from his stuttering, cruel mother for the last time.
