Prologue
VOLTAIRE. That name is known by the entire Wizarding World.ย A name that not many get the privilege of bearing.ย The Voltaire members are known for staying bachelors or bachelorettes until death and blood adopting their children, most of which have been male. The so-called tradition was one that people thought would never be broken and the current eldest Voltaire wanted it to stay that way.
Galileo Voltaire is technically the one who broke tradition except, no one knows about his marriage. In fact, he isn't married just yet, just simply engaged to one Charlie Weasley. The only ones that know is Charlie's family and their closest friends. Together, they raise his little brother, Copernicus.
Coper is a peculiar young man, some would say that he and Luna Lovegood share the same strange mindset. Being blood-adopted by the late Hypatia Voltaire, he had been trained to be a perfect pureblood heir without the prejudice.
The Voltaire's don't put themselves on the high pedestal that other pure families do. In fact, the Voltaire family have always seen those kind of families as embarrassments to the Sacred Twenty-Eight and the Wizarding World. Copernicus, of course, thinks the same. He and his brother never attended any of the functions that many well-known pure-blood families would arrange. They wouldn't dare associate with people like them.
The only reason that the Voltaire's aren't seen as disgraces to the other pure-blood families like the Weasleys, is because each member held extremely high seats in the Wizengamot (even higher than Dumbledore, once). They also couldn't stand how some families went about keeping their bloodline pure. Alaric Voltaire, their grandfather, even publicly shamed those families, calling them disgusting, disgraceful, and saying that inbreeding will only ruin their lineage, which it most likely did.
The Voltaire Family is very large and some say they rival the Black family tree. Because of the amount of unknown family that's within the Voltaire line, Coper's great-great something grandfather made a vow that would extend to the future members of the family. Every member of the family whether they are male or female keep the Voltaire name when they get married and to blood adopt any orphan child, muggle or magical. Copernicus and Galileo's mother, Hypatia was blood adopted by Alaric at age six and attended Hogwarts with most of the parents of Coper's classmates. She adopted Galileo when he was 8 years old after his mother, one of her many muggle friends died by car accident. Soon after, she adopted Copernicus after Galileo found him on the Voltaire Manor doorsteps.
