Evan Buckley and Eddie Diaz (9-1-1)
Buck X Eddie
The crack of lightning split the night sky, illuminating the dark clouds that swirled ominously overhead. As the electric storm raged on, a figure stumbled up on the ladder through the pouring rain, his silhouette barely visible against the harsh elements. Evan "Buck" Buckley, a firefighter with the 118, was out on a call, as Buck was putting out a fire a blinding flash of light seared through the air, and a deafening boom echoed around him. Buck felt a jolt of intense pain shoot through his body. Eddie who at the base of the ladder was shot back landing on the ground as buck lay lifeless holding on by the harness. Bobby, Chimney, and Hen looked up in shock. Eddie looked to see Buck hanging there lifeless. "BUCK," he yelled climbing the ladder. "Mayday mayday mayday. This is Captain Nash, 118. we have a firefighter down at the MacArthur Park apartment fire. Need additional task force and rescue immediately,"Bobby radioed for help. "BUCK,"Eddie's scream could be heard. "Come buck hold on buddy," Chimney said. "BUCK,"Eddie said and went to grab the harness,"CAN YOU HEAR ME? BUCK,"Eddie turned to Chimney,"WE NEED MORE SLACK." Chimney immediately responded. "MORE SLACK COMING UP."
As Eddie made sure Buck stayed stable, as Chimney lowered him Bobby directed an ambulance to where Buck was being lowered. "Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go! Back it up, back it up! Let's go,"Bobby yelled. Chimney told the firefighter to take over as he rushed over to Buck. Bobby held the limp boy in his arms."Stop! Stop, stop, stop! Come here, kid. Come here. I got him. I got him. Okay, bring that gurney over here, let's go." Chimney yelled out,"I need a Lifepak!" "Come on, let's go, let's go, let's go!I got his head!Get the Lifepak on! Get him on. Let's get him down. All right." Bobby said as from above Eddie was still feeding the harness that Buck had on. Eddie began to climb down seeing Buck safe. "BUCK BUCK," Bobby yelled for his son. Chimney and hen began to remove the harness and jacket. Hen checked Buck's pulse. "No pulse,"she said worried. "Get that Lifepak ready," Chimney said. "It doesn't make sense to shock him. He's in full cardiac arrest,"Hen said. "Starting compressions. Get that Lifepak off,"Chimney said and he gets on top of Buck. "Come on, Buck. Come on, Buck. Come on, man. Come on, Buck! Come on, Buck, come on!"
Bobby supported Chimney. "All right, Chim." "We got to move,"Chimney said as Eddie came to Buck's side. (A/N: and people say they aren't dating. Sorry I'm just in my season 7 buck and eddie era.) "Eddie, Eddie, you're driving, get off,"Bobby told him. Bobby and Eddie headed to front as the rest of the fire fighters loaded Buck into the ambulance as Bobby radioed in. " Dispatch, this is Captain . We have a firefighter down, struck by lightning, unresponsive, three minutes out.
Those 3 minutes seemed longer as the drove to the hospital everyone in complete shock at the events. Once there Eddie had taken over but then called Chim to take over. "30-year-old male struck by lightning. Full cardiac arrest. He was down three minutes before we started compressions," Bobby told the doctor who nodded. "Lightning went through his hands and out his knee, right down the midline. Could be some damage to major organs," Hen said. "He's in V-tach," Chim said said the doctors used the defibulators. "All right, clear,"Chimney said and shock went through and it worked. "We got a pulse,"Chimney said and the doctors took over. "Okay, he has a history of blood clotting. He's not currently on any medication, but he does have an allergy to naproxen,"Bobby told them. "Got it! We'll do our best,"The head doctor said. "DO MORE,"Eddie yelled.
Buck felt a wave of disorientation wash over him as he blinked his eyes open. The last thing he remembered was the chaos of the firehouse, the blare of alarms, the shouts of his fellow firefighters. But now, he found himself in a world that seemed to straddle the line between reality and dream. He stood in a living room that exuded warmth and comfort, bathed in the soft glow of afternoon sunlight filtering through sheer curtains. The walls were painted a soothing shade of cream, adorned with framed photographs and colorful paintings. Plush furniture beckoned invitingly, offering respite to anyone who sought solace within this tranquil space. Buck's gaze swept across the room, taking in the details with a sense of wonder. A crackling fireplace cast a flickering dance of light and shadows across the room, infusing it with a cozy ambiance. The air was scented with a hint of cinnamon and vanilla, wrapping him in a cocoon of familiarity. His eyes landed on a family portrait hanging prominently on the wall. In it, he saw himself, looking older and more at peace than he had ever felt. Beside him stood Eddie Diaz, his best friend and fellow firefighter, their arms clasped in a gesture of camaraderie. Eddie's smile was warm and genuine, a reflection of the bond they shared.
Inside the house, the air was filled with the soothing aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the laughter of children playing. Lilly, with her radiant smile and bright, curious eyes, chased after Christopher, her older brother, their peals of laughter echoing through the rooms like music. Buck watched them fondly, his heart swelling with a love so profound it felt like it might burst. He had never imagined that such joy and contentment could exist, that a sense of belonging could be found in the warm embrace of a family that had welcomed him with open arms. Eddie, with his rugged good looks and eyes that sparkled with warmth and affection, entered the room, his gaze softening as he caught Buck's eye. There was a silent understanding between them, a shared language of love and gratitude that transcended words. "Daddy," His little girl's voice brought him back to the present and he picked up the little girl. "Hey there princess,"Buck said. "Morning Carino," Eddie said and kissed Buck's birthmark.
Buck smiled. This is all he ever wanted. A family with the man he loved. Was it finally real and happening? Seeing a wedding band on his finger he knew it to be true. The days passed in a blissful rhythm of routine and spontaneity, a perfect balance of work and play, of laughter and tears. Buck and Eddie would drop Lilly at daycare, Chris at school and they would go the firehouse. After a long day Clara would have picked up Chris and Lilly and taken them home. The moment Buck walked through the door we would find a 3 year old girl in his arms. "Hey princess did you miss me," Buck asked and the little girl nodded. "I missed you guys too," Chris said walking to his parents. "I think our daughter likes you more than me," Eddie would tease, a playful glint in his eyes as he watched Buck interact with their children, his heart swelling with pride and gratitude for the family they had created together. "You jealous, Diaz?" Buck would retort, a mischievous twinkle in his own eye before Eddie would lean in for a quick, affectionate kiss, sealing their unspoken promise of love and devotion.
Family dinners were a cherished tradition, the clinking of cutlery accompanying lively conversations and shared stories. Movie nights found them gathered on the couch, snuggled under blankets, the flickering light of the screen casting shadows on their faces as they lost themselves in tales of adventure and romance. Chris was on the floor and Lilly snuggled in-between them. Buck looked over this scene. Everything he ever wanted here and happening to him. It almost didn't feel real. But it was during bedtime that Buck felt most at home, as he sat on the edge of Lilly's bed, her small hand clasped in his, her wide eyes fixed on him in rapt attention as he spun tales of far-off lands and daring heroes. Christopher, tucked in his own bed across the room, listened with equal fascination, his gaze lingering on Buck with a mixture of admiration and affection.
In those fleeting moments of quiet intimacy, as the night enveloped them in its velvety embrace, Buck found himself consumed by a sense of profound gratitude and fulfillment. This life, this family, was everything he had ever dreamed of, a sanctuary of love and belonging that he had craved for so long. And yet, amidst the tranquility of his dream life, there lingered a shadow—a whisper of a past half-forgotten, a life left behind but never truly erased. Flashes of memories and fragments of emotions tugged at Buck's consciousness, hinting at a story untold, a wound unhealed. In the stillness of the night, as he watched over his sleeping children and listened to the steady rhythm of their breathing, a sense of unease gnawed at the edges of his contentment, a reminder that some ghosts never truly vanish, lingering in the shadows of the past, waiting to be acknowledged.
These intrusions haunted Buck, casting a veil of doubt over the happiness he had found in this dream world. As he lay in bed, the soft breath of his family surrounding him in the darkness, he felt a chill crawl up his spine, a tremor of unease that refused to be pacified. His heart raced in his chest, a drumbeat of fear and longing, as he struggled to grasp at the edges of a truth that slipped through his fingers like mist. There were moments when he caught glimpses of his real life, flashes of memories and emotions that didn't quite fit with the narrative of his new reality. He would wake up in a cold sweat, his heart pounding, only to find himself back in the comforting embrace of his dream family. As days melded into weeks, Buck found himself torn between two worlds: the dream realm that offered solace and joy, and the real world that beckoned with its harsh truths and uncertainties. The line between reality and fantasy blurred, casting doubt on the authenticity of his existence. Was this dream world a sanctuary crafted by his mind, a refuge from the pain and heartache of his past? Or was it a mirage, a deception designed to lull him into complacency?
One stormy night, as the sound of thunder rumbled in the distance, Buck stood at the window, staring out into the darkness. Lilly had taken longer to fall asleep not letting go of his hand. Eddie had gone to sleep early and Chris. He loved his buck more than anything. he heart felt heavy but he knew this wasn't his world. he slipped the wedding ring and he felt a sudden sense of clarity wash over him, and he knew that it was time to face the truth. With a heavy heart, he turned away from the warmth and love of his dream family and made his way towards the door. The eerie howl of the wind outside echoed the tumultuous storm brewing in Buck's heart. Rain lashed against the window panes like an angry sea, casting distorted shadows across the room. Buck stood at the pane, his reflection blending with the distorted shapes of raindrops as he stared out into the darkness, hoping to find clarity amid the chaos. Through the sheets of rain, Buck saw a figure standing in the distance, cloaked in shadows but radiating a silent strength that called to him. As he approached, the figure turned towards him, and Buck's heart skipped a beat at the familiarity in those eyes.
"I've been waiting for you," the figure said, their voice like a whisper of truth in the tumultuous night. It was and older version of himself Buck felt a shiver run down his spine, a sense of recognition stirring within him. "Why, what is this," Buck asked. The figure smiled, a knowing glint in their eyes. "I'm the truth you've been avoiding, the reality you've been denying. I'm the key to unlocking the chains that bind you." Buck's mind reeled with a myriad of emotions, the storm outside a mirror to the tempest raging within him. With a hesitant nod, he took a step closer to the enigmatic figure, a silent agreement passing between them. It was time to confront his inner demons, to face the truths he had long kept buried beneath layers of denial. Together, they ventured out into the storm, the wind and rain as tumultuous as Buck's conflicted soul. As they walked into the darkness, a sense of resolve settled over him, a newfound determination to embrace the unknown that lay ahead. The path to self-discovery stretched out before him, illuminated by the flickering lightning that tore through the night sky, a beacon of hope in the midst of chaos.
They arrived to a hospital room and through the glass we say himself. A breathing tube in. The doctor walked in. "We're gonna take the rube out and give him a few minutes to see if takes a spontaneous breath, if not we connect him back to the life support." His real family was there. Bobby and Athena there. His parents, real parents his mind supplied, the ones who gave a damm about him. "Come on Buck. come back to us," Bobby whispered he tube being taken out. THe glass under Buck's palm began to crack. Chimney, Maddie, Hen, his brother and sisters. People who cared and loved him even if he was stupid and reckless. kept him going. "please buck," Hen said. "Evan," Maddie could only whisper. More cracks appeared along the glass. Chris, his son. He never forgiven himself for that day at the pier. He looked as his boy looked at his lifeless body."You gotta wake up Bucky,"Chris said. The glass now seemed full of cracks. Eddie. The man he loved. Tears filled Eddie's eyes the longer to looked. "Come on Buck, Evan please," Eddie said. The window imploded and in that moment in that bed Buck took a breath and tensions seemed to melt away.
It took a few hours but in those hours Buck knew what he wanted and asked to talk to Eddie in private. "Hey Buck. You gave all a scare there. Do that again and hell, I don't what I'd do," Eddie said. "Yeah I'll try not to stand where lighting is about to hit again,"Buck said. The laughter between them. THIS was real, THIS was genuine. "I had a dream. We were married. We had a little girl," Buck said and Eddie looked at him. "We never said I love you. Probably because I knew it wasn't you,"Buck continued. "Evan-,"Eddie tried to say but Buck stopped him. "Eddie I knew what I wanted. The kisses in those universe weren't real. I want to know what a real one would feel like please,"Buck said. Eddie bent down in a flash their lips met. The spark between them was greater than any lighting strike.
