(Special chapter)
A couple weeks after school started, the first quidditch match between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor took place.
Neither Aziraphale nor Crowley liked the sport a lot but this year, Newt would be on the team as their seeker.
So they made a banner with help from some other Hufflepuffs and got to the pitch extra early to reserve some good seats.
Newt, who had never stroke Aziraphale as a sport friendly nor athletic person, radiated nervous energy from the moment he stepped outside on the field.
But as soon as he was in the air, he seemed to breath deeper, his face relaxing into a happy smile and then concentration, as he observed the game from above.
"Give me the spy glass I can barely see him up there."
Crowley yelled into is ear over the noise of the crowd.
"Maybe if you would take your shades of it'd be better."
Crowley tensed slightly and Aziraphale could have hit himself. He looked away and handed Crowley the binoculars.
"Sorry"
Crowley said nothing and just took them from him. For the rest of the game they didnt talk, too adsorbed in the game and he didnt bring it up again later.
The crowd roared and stomped as there were fouls on both sides. The Gryffindors had a very aggressive style, while the Hufflepuffs stayed calm but barely defended themselves. With time altough, they became faster and all of a sudden their chasers were flying over the field, snatching balls away and making one goal after another.
The Gryffindor crowd had gone silent and Aziraphale even saw some people cry.
When the game had reached almost an hour and it stood 70 to 110 for Hufflepuff, Newt suddenly flew higher. He chased after something glittering in the air, zigzagging through the sky.
A couple seconds later the Gryffindor seeker was hot on his heals. Side by side they rased around the field. Almost all the other players had stopped what they were doing, staring at the weird couple in the sky.
The tention before the close could almost be grabbed out of thin air.
The snitch led the two seekers around quidposts and up and down like it was playing with them. At some point Newt seemed to have enough. He yelled something at the other seeker who only shook their head at first but soon gave in. They nodded at each other, as if in a grimm, desperate agreement. Just as the snitch let them across the field, he sped up, while Newt changed direction and flew in a looping and just as Aziraphale thought they would miss it completely, both flung out their arms and caught the snitch between their hands, like they were doing a highfive.
The whole stadium had gone silent.
The commentator, who had been away for almost half the game, suddenly spoke up again.
"What a remarkable catch. I dont even know if this is against the rules, but I guess if were still going by the math, Hufflepuff wins with 260 points!!"
Slowly the applause was flooding in, as the Hufflepuffs realised that they had still won the game.
Crowley, who had been unmoved the whole time started grinning a bit, as people around them jumped and danced around.
"Come on, we have to congratulate Newt!"
Aziraphale grabbed Crowley and pulled him down towards the middle of the field, where Newt landed together with the Gryffindor beater.
As they arrived they were shaking hands.
"Good game", he said.
The other smiled a bit and nodded.
"Good game. Im Uriel by the way."
"Newt."
"I hope I get to play with you more often, Newt." They nodded, and walked off toward their own friends, who were patting them on the back.
"They seemed nice. And I mean they're a Gryffindor."
Crowley commented.
"You were amazing Newt!!", Aziraphale almost screamed as more people dressed in yellow came running towards them and carried Newt on their shoulders.
He managed to get down again pretty fast and seemed to search for something or someone in the crowd. As he seemed to have found it, his smile grew even wider.
Crowley showed Aziraphale a happily chatting Ravenclaw girl in the crowd and Aziraphale sighed.
"My god. You could think he didnt care about the game at all, just about Anathema having a good time. He really needs help."
