Draco Malfoy and the Curse of Freedom

Chapter 1

I stared at the blue hair dye i found in some muggle store as i tried to keep my balance on the train. This was a horrible idea. I knew that. I wanted to do it regardless. If I did do this, there was no going back, I would be disowned or killed the second my relatives had the chance, but the war’s coming and I will most likely die in that anyways.

Well, fuck it.

My hair looked messy, more than Mother would ever allow but it felt good, it felt me . I walked out of the train’s washroom, ignoring my usual carriage on the way, instead heading straight to Lovegood’s one which was — as it had been for the last 5 years — empty except for her.

I almost reconsidered just as I was about to knock but mama didn’t raise no bitch. Wait no, she did. Whatever, pop culture references are weird anyways.

“Uh- um, Lovegood, mind if I-” holy shit when did talking get so hard? “Mind if i sit here?”

She didn’t even look up from her book and responded in typical Lovegood fashion, “Took you long enough.”

Well that was cryptic, but it brought a smile to my face nonetheless, “Thanks”

“I’m- uh- i’m sorry for everything i did.”

I had been gathering courage for the past hour just for six mumbled words. How pathetic.

“Pardon what?”

“I’m sorry for everything- like the bullying and it was stupid and childish and i had no right to do that to you and i know i’ll never be able to make it up to you ever but still i wanted to apologise and i don’t expect you to forgive me because i know i was an asshole-” oh great, now i’m ranting. Wonderful.

“I forgive you.”

“-and i would completely deserve it if you decked me in the face- what?”

“I forgive you,” she repeated.

“.... why, though?”

She shrugged in response, as if she didn't know.
