switch bodies, but why?

Sirius woke up in the infirmary, all sore and with no memory of what had happened half an hour ago during potions class.

"Oh dear, you're finally up," said Madam Pomfrey, touching his forehead to check if he had a fever. "It's not enough that last full moon was hard for you, but some other harm is happening to you again. Don't worry, I hope that slytherin boy will be punished properly for this."

Last full moon? Did the nurse know about Sirius' presence during Remus' transformation into a werewolf? Punishing a slytherin boy? Who? What for?

Poppy left, leaving Sirius a chocolate. Remus's favorite. Sirius clutched his head in pain and immediately widened his eyes in shock as he felt a storm of curls on it. He looked down at his hands and saw the familiar scars.

He froze. He... he was in Remus' body.

Then he remembered how he got here. Snape in class got angry at Lily Evans for not wanting to be in the group with him. He became very insistent, and then Sirius and Remus came to Evans' defense. They started arguing, Snape got very angry and cast some spell at them. The green-blue beam was the last thing they saw before losing consciousness.

"No, that's not possible" he whispered to himself and then looked at the bed next to where someone was sleeping. Sirius got out of bed, pulled back the veil, and saw his body with probably Remus's mind inside.

"Um, Moony, woke up" he whispered gently grabbing his arm "Mooony?"

Remus opened his eyes a little and a second later, after seeing Sirius in his body, he was horrified. His hand automatically went to his pocket for his wand, but he didn't find it there.

"Who are you?" He asked.

"It's me, Sirius"

"No, you're not Sirius. Are you?"

"Moony, you know I'm always serious. Seriously. I'm serious about being Sirius. Seriously, I-"

"Okay, it's you. But how is that possible? What happened?"

"You don't remember?"

"If I remembered, I wouldn't be asking. Don't you think?"

"Yes, yes, I know, Moony. Apparently that's how that spell that Snivellus put on us in potions worked."

Then Remus's face lit up in understanding (in Sirius's body, of course). He remembered the whole action of defending his friend and Snape casting a spell that Remus had heard for the first time in his life.

"We have to tell McGonagall"

"Okay boys, we seem to know what happened to you by now. Mr. Snape has cast a spell of his own making on you, causing you to switch bodies. We want to assure you that we understand this is a difficult and frustrating situation. We have already sent for the ingredients for the potion, which will cancel the spell." Dumbledore said.

"Ingredients for a potion? Can't you just cast a reversal spell on us? You sent for the ingredients? How long will we have to wait for this potion?" Remus asked, agitated by the headmaster's attitude.

"Lots of questions Mr. Lupin. Well, we expect to have all the ingredients in about two weeks. Maybe a little-"

"Two weeks?!" Sirius exploded.

"Calm down Mr. Black, unfortunately, but since the spell was a combination of two others from the forbidden section of the library, we can't use any reverse. We can't risk something going wrong. We'll use the old way and make a potion that we're sure will work perfectly." Minerva replied, inhaling.

"In addition, we hope that you will not tell anyone about this incident. Hogwarts is currently in a difficult political situation and we do not want any more trouble so no one can find out. I hope you understand?" the principal asked in a very serious tone.

"Excuse me Albus, may I interrupt?" McGonagall asked "We know, or at least I know for sure, that you two will not keep a secret from your other two best friends. But please try not to mention this to anyone else. We have decided not to even tell the other teachers."

"I think we'll try. What about Snivellus?" Sirius asked.

"Severus, Mr. Black, we don't enjoy such silly nicknames."

"It doesn't matter. You're going to kick him out of school right?" Sirius was full of hope that it would happen.

"We thought about it, but as we said, we don't need any more scandals. Mr. Snape will get his punishment, I promise. But we won't kick him out of our school."

"But-"

"Mr. Black, no, that's not going to happen"

Of course James and Peter were waiting for their friends outside the principal's office after Poppy told them they had gone there.

"So what happened?" asked Peter.

"Right, what that Snivellus's spell did to you?" James joined right away.

Sirius and Remus looked at each other for a few seconds and then back at their friends.

"I am Sirius"

"About what, Moony?"

"No, I mean I'm Sirius. Sirius Black"

"What? Are you on drugs?"

"No, James. It's me, your best friend. Sirius"

James turned to peter "I think Moony's on drugs"

"He's not, Sirius is telling the truth. That's what the spell did. It switched us bodies. I'm Remus, in Sirius' body. Let's go to the dormitory and we'll explain everything on the way."

"Dude, that's crazy," James said when he and Sirius were alone in the room. "They should kick him out of school"

"I know, right?" Sirius agreed, "So, you want to take advantage of me being in Moony's body and kiss him?"

"No, Pads" he laughed "And don't kiss anyone in Moony's body, that wouldn't be fair"

"I know, Prongs. I was just joking," Sirius snorted.

"Actually, I've already kissed Remus, after all," James added after a moment of silence.

"WHAT?" Sirius immediately got up from the bed and looked at his friend who was still lounging on the bed "WHEN?"

"In fourth year, he was my first kiss and I think I was his. You really didn't know?" said James looking with a slight smile at Sirius as if it was nothing.

"No, I didn't know. How did that even happen?" Sirius crossed his arms.

"We just wanted to see what it was like, I guess. It's not such a big deal," James stated and then Remus entered the room carrying the books.

"A girl just tried to flirt with me," Remus said putting his stuff on the bed, "She came over and said 'what's a handsome man like Sirius Black doing in the library?' and I started laughing in her face. Anyway, what were you talking about?"

"About your kiss with Prongs"

"Oh, that. Jealous padfoot?"

Before Sirius could say anything, Peter burst into the room.

"Remus. Evans just talked to me and asked if I saw you because she wanted to go to the library with you. I said you were sleeping, because I didn't know if it was a good idea for her to talk to Sirius in your body"

"Oh, can we tell Lily?" Remus asked immediately, thinking that Sirius would have to pretend to be him in front of Evans.

"I don't think so. Dumbledore made himself clear," said James, running his hand through his hair.

"Come on. It's Lily. You know she won't tell anyone"

"We're not telling her," James said firmly, making Peter roll his eyes.

"Prongs we all know you want to take advantage that Sirius is in Remus' body and you want him to ask her about you," Peter commented.

"Don't do this." said Remus murderously "She's my friend, please"

"I can't promise we won't do that, Moonshine" Sirius and James looked at each other with big smiles.

"You know what?" Wormtail asked "I'm going to sleep, I still don't quite understand the situation we're in and seeing Sirius with a ton of books doesn't help"

"Well, it's been a really rough day, Wormy. I guess I'll go to bed too," Remus yawned.

Sirius and Remus agreed not to switch beds, there was no need after all. Their roommates knew all about it anyway. However, they concluded that a change of clothes for these two weeks would sometimes be necessary due to the different sizes.

The next two weeks were going to be interesting.
