Prologue
“New school year, new opportunity for the Glee Club after failing miserably last year. What will fate have in store for them this time?” The school reporter spoke to the camera. There was a cut, and this time, he was standing next to a student with purple hair.
“Choi Subong, now you want to call yourself Thanos. What do you have to say about the rumors that you had sex in a classroom?” Thanos moved as if he were dancing to a song, despite not wearing any headphones.
The girl next to him pushed the microphone away from his face and spoke while looking into the camera. “None of those rumors are true. This idiot has no game.” She had short hair and piercings.
There was another cut, this time featuring a girl with a serious expression. “Sae-byeok, there are rumors that your father, Professor Gi-hun, is sleeping with Principal In-ho. Do you have anything to say?” The girl shot a deadly glare at the reporter, and the scene cut again.
“Nam-gyu, is it true that you're gay and have feelings for Thanos?” The long-haired boy looked directly at the camera before punching the reporter. Another cut.
“Jun-hee! Rumor has it that you’re pregnant, which is why you broke up with Myung-gi and quit the cheerleading squad!” The reporter chased after a girl with blonde tips in her hair, who ran away without looking back.
Jun-hee managed to hide in the girls’ bathroom. She knew that, despite being a total pervert, the school reporter wouldn’t follow her in there. She sighed, resting her forehead against the door.
“You know that at some point, they’ll stop being rumors, right?” Jun-hee nearly screamed in fright and turned around to find Sae-byeok. “Sooner or later, everyone will know.”
“They’ll find out anyway when that video comes out. It’s getting harder to hide it.” Jun-hee had done everything she could—wearing loose dresses and baggy clothes—but her belly was starting to show.
When she first found out she was pregnant, Jun-hee cried for almost two hours. Sae-byeok had made a weak attempt to comfort her until Gi-hun arrived and managed to help.
Now, she was four months pregnant. Despite her doubts and lacking support from the baby’s father, Jun-hee had decided to keep the child.
Sae-byeok simply nodded, and the two of them left the bathroom, each heading to their respective classes. At 10:00 AM, they had a meeting in the choir room.
“Alright, guys! New year, new club, new everything. I talked to the principal, and I got permission to have an assistant. So, everyone, meet Hwang Jun-ho.” The members applauded as a young man, who looked to be around 23, greeted them. “Jun-ho was a member of the club under the former teacher, so I thought his help would be fitting. Feel free to add him to our WhatsApp group.”
“I’m on it!” Young-mi said as she pulled out her phone. Gi-hun handed her Jun-ho’s phone number.
“Thanks, Young-mi. Also, let’s go around—each of you say your name in the chat and raise your hand here so Jun-ho knows who’s who. One at a time, in order.”

“Thanks, everyone. Alright, that’s all for now. See you after class. Remember, if you have an emergency and can’t attend, let us know in the group.” The students left the classroom after saying goodbye to the two men.
“I heard there’s a new guy,” Young-mi said.
“What’s so surprising about that? There are tons of new students every year.” Se-mi glanced at her phone distractedly.
“They say he came from the army or something.”
“A 17-year-old in the army?” Mi-na asked curiously.
“I’m just repeating what everyone’s saying,” Young-mi defended herself.
Jun-hee didn’t pay much attention to the group’s conversation and headed to her locker to grab her books for the next class. Professor Sang-woo was strict about study materials, so she made sure she had everything.
“Hey, need help with that?” Jun-hee turned at the sound of an unfamiliar voice. She found herself face-to-face with a tall boy with black hair that reached the base of his neck, tied in a small ponytail to keep strands out of his face. He must be new, she thought.
“Huh, yeah, sure, thanks.” She handed her books to the boy, feeling a little guilty since he was already carrying his own. “Do you have math class too?” The boy nodded and walked beside her.
When they entered the classroom, only a few students were inside. Jun-hee sat in her usual spot in the middle of the room, near the right corner. To her surprise, the boy sat next to her—the seat normally occupied by Sae-byeok. She quickly texted her to warn her, so her sister wouldn’t drag the poor guy out of the seat.
"Excuse me for asking… you're Jun-hee, right?"
Jun-hee's face twisted into a grimace before nodding. The boy's expression lit up with what seemed like recognition. Jun-hee sighed internally—he had probably already heard the rumors about her pregnancy. bye good firstimpression. Her suspicions were confirmed when his eyes briefly flickered down to her belly before returning to her face.
"Oh, I saw you in one of those school reporter's videos. That guy is awful."
"He's a pervert," Jun-hee agreed.
The boy gave her a soft smile, but they couldn't continue talking because Professor Sang-woo entered the room, causing everyone to fall silent.
Jun-hee scanned the classroom, searching for Sae-byeok, and spotted her sitting two rows behind her, next to Se-mi. Her phone vibrated.
Sae-byeok: Who’s that guy
Jun-hee: idk
“By the way, I’m Dae-ho.”
Jun-hee looked over. Dae-ho was staring at the board. She didn’t say anything, choosing to believe he was just being friendly—not that he had been snooping on her phone while she texted Sae-byeok.
