I left the one person I loved to be with her.
George
The ministry was busy today. Not that it wasn’t busy every day. He never understood how his father and Percy worked here did not go mad. He loved his customers and the smiles that he saw on their faces when they walked into his store.
George was only here because he and Lee had to come and get their paperwork so they could move to America. Charlie’s father-in-law Barnaby found them the perfect stand-alone house. It was down the road from Draco and his husband Justin. It had plenty of space for Lola to play or any other children that they would have. It wasn’t far from where his brothers lived either. It was good because Percy just had little Lucy. He just needed if only he could talk Fred into moving. This would be the farthest that he has been apart from Fred. Though his brother has been going off on more adventures with Luna. Ron has stepped up and helped with the stores they had here.
“George!” His father’s voice brought him out of his thoughts. Lee squeezed his hand. Lee was a saint. What would he do without this man? George always felt bad for his father. You couldn’t help you who love.
“Dad!” His father smiled at him. Once he got close enough he pulled him into a hug. Arthur Wesley was the only parent that he and his brother felt loved by.
“I have something to ask you.” His dad pulled away and hugged Lee. “Well, you as well Lee. Do you mind coming to my office? I was going to floo you today before leaving work, but this is better.” Lee and George traded looks before they followed.
“Why are you both at the ministry today?” The older redhead asked as the lift closed its doors. He and Lee decided they were not telling his mother about them leaving. They agreed if his father asked they would tell.
“Well Dad, we are moving. We are here because we needed to get the paperwork. I understand if you feel obligated to tell Mum. Lee and I figured it wasn’t important to tell her. When has she ever cared about what Fred and I wanted?” Lee’s hand was still in George’s. He felt another squeeze. The sadness and something else in his father’s eyes broke his heart.
“I’m sorry Dad.”
Arthur shook his head. “No don’t be sorry George. I understand. I wish your mother would…” The older man stopped himself. “Promise me you will still floo me when you are gone. I’ll miss my little Lola.”
“Arthur, we would never keep Lola from you. Hell, I wouldn’t keep Lola from Molly. The move is the best for all of us. It wasn’t because of your family. I have a job that I love there. George will have a new store. Lola will be fine. She will miss you I’m sure of it. She loves her Gramp Gramp.”
There were tears in his father’s eyes when the lift door opened. The short walk to his office was silent. When they walked in they sat in the chair around his desk.
“I want you to be honest with me okay? If I have to make a vow I will but I must know the truth okay.” George sat up. Did his father already know about Percy? That is the only thing that he could think he asked about.
“You’re making me nervous Dad. What are you on about?” His dad flicked his wand his magic fell over them.
“Do you know where Percy is? I’m worried about him. He left so suddenly. Your Mother has told me nothing. I know something happened when I shot myself. I need to know if he is okay. I have a bad feeling. That man Runcorn keeps coming around asking us if we know where Percy is. I don’t like that. He was his boss. I get that but there is something more.” RUNCORN? Percy’s boss… Could… Could Runcorn be Lucy’s other father? George looked over at his husband whose eyebrows were in his hairline.
“So you know where he is. I knew it.” Arthur leaned forward in his chair. “I don’t need to know where he is I just need to know he is safe. I won’t even tell Molly. I vow it. I already don’t see Bill that often. Not to mention I have two grandchildren that I have never met. I would love more than anything to meet them. I don’t blame Charlie or Harry. I wish I had the opportunity.” George knew Charlie and Harry would allow him to see Topher and Winnie.
“Dad I’m sure if you reached out to Charlie and Harry they would love for you to get to know Topher and Winnie.”
“Topher and Winnie. Those are their names. I love them.” There went another dagger into George’s heart.
“Yes, Topher is Charlie’s mini-me. Winnie doesn’t look like anyone in our family. She has red hair.”
Arthur nodded and smiled. “I knew Harry’s biological parents. His mother was redheaded. I bet she looks like Lily. I’d love to know more but, I need to know about Percy.”
“I think you should tell him, George.” Lee crossed and uncrossed his legs. George nodded and turned back to his dad.
“Percy is doing alright Dad. He has a small cabin. He is currently working for a bookstore.” George stopped himself. He looked over at Lee, who they had a silent conversation about telling the other part. Lee nodded again.
“He just had a daughter. Her name is Lucy Grace Weasley.” Arthur sobbed. His head fell into his hands.
“I can’t take this any more boys. I can’t! I need to get away from this woman... I left the one person I loved to be with her. She has changed. I thought it was because of having so many children. Not that I don’t love all of you. Your mother she… She just became unstable! I want to be a part of my boy’s life.”
George got up and pulled his dad into a bear hug. The man looked so small and defeated in his arms. What he said played into his head ‘I left the one person I loved to be with her.’ WHAT?
“We will talk to Percy and Charlie, Dad. I know that Charlie’s in-laws have extra cabins on their land. They will help you.”
“Actually until we talk to Charlie you are coming with us. Please, Arthur. Come with us. We have the extra room. Lola would love for her Gramp Gramp to come. Please let us help you.” Lee stood up and wrapped his arms around the older man as well.
“I... I can’t boys.” George looked into his father’s heartbroken eyes.
“Yes, you can. Please, Dad… You deserve to be happy too. We can figure everything else out. Just come with us. We already have the house. We have the port key ready and the stuff is already there. You can help me run my store. We can get you a muggle job. You can do whatever you want. Please.” George held his breath.
“We will need to get me some clothes.” Lee laughed a watery laugh. George just noticed the tears in his husband's eyes. “Of course, I know Harry loves to shop. We will ask him along! I’m sure you both will become fast friends!” Lee squeezed them.
“Oh Merlin, don’t forget Barnaby! Come on, our port key is about to leave. Lola is already with Charlie, Harry, and her cousins.”
“Then what are we waiting for?”
Runcorn
Arthur Weasley walked out of his office. Runcorn was going to find where Percy was one way or another. He planned to get it out of Arthur, but not when he wasn’t alone.
He followed behind. Runcorn rolled his eyes. This wasn’t much help. That was until he heard something about America. America.. Could Percy be in America? A smirk grew on his face. Now where in America could his little whore be….
