Drowning on Dry Land
Summary
When Tom Riddle was resurrected, how was he to know he'd break over 50 year old seals placed by his former school professor? But he did and now he must deal with all of these new instincts: Most of which are claiming his mortal nemesis to be someone he must protect with his very being. When Harry Potter reached the Tri-Wizard cup in the center of the maze, he had no idea what was going to soon happen. He didn't know he'd watch a classmate die. He didn't know he'd be used as an ingredient in his parents' murderer's resurrection. And he certainly didn't know the man himself would become his overprotective father.

Heroy

Koama gave a frustrated sigh as she sent yet another message to yet another dragel about the situation Levi had dropped in her lap.

Honestly, that man was a menace and Koama cursed the day they met.

And his student! In his sixties and just inheriting! And an Aqua-kin'e with such a strong storm affinity it was almost to the point it was a full on element!

And then the boy! The mess of seals on a boy who had not even reached his inheritance was worrisome. And the inheritance seal placed upon him was atrocious. The tears upon the strong seal was even more frightening for what it meant had happened to the poor boy in his life.

Of course Levi would give Koama this kind of headache.

An incoming portal derailed Koama from another long internal rant at the frustrating merrow. Out stepped Heroy, a runemaster with a specialization in seals from the spiral of water.

He was one of the first Koama had messaged for help with her new patients.

“Malifors,” he greeted respectfully.

“Heroy,” Koama said cutting out the professionalism to greet her old friend, “You won't believe what Levi has given me this time.”

Heroy raised a blue eyebrow before smirking, “Lay it on me.”

And so Koama explained.

“So this Tom Riddle and Harry Potter are still with Levi in your office, correct?”

“Yes,” Koama sighed, mentally exhausted from her recount of the events.

“And you said this Riddle had a strong storm secondary?”

“Yes.”

“I don't know about any Riddles,” Heroy said slowly, “But I am aware of a small storm clan called Rydel. We might need to check the main Nevarah library for the Rydel's family scrolls to see if he's related at all to them.”

“Well that'll be on our to do list then. Come on and take a look at their seals,” Koama said, reluctantly thinking of her future plans.

The two walked back into the office where the boy was as far from Riddle as he could get without leaving the hospital cot. Riddle himself was looking half feral with worry about the recalcitrant boy.

“Have you done a simple paternity spell between the two?” Heroy asked Koama, uncaring of their audience.

The boy looked highly offended and the man looked stunned by the insinuation before becoming thoughtful.

Koama shook her head before stepping closer to the two and doing the spell. They both lit up in the colors of their magic, a strong violet for Tom and a bright light green for the boy. A thred between their magic was shown.

“Congratulation, it's a boy,” she deadpanned to Tom.

The man looked even more stunned as he turned to the boy who looked stricken and enraged at the same time.

“That's not possible! My parents were James and Lily Potter! Not him,” he said the last word with such vitriolic disgust that Koama had to raise an impressed eyebrow.

“And your third?” Koama asked blandly.

“My third what?” the boy spat.

“Your third parent. Dragels have three parents. A sire, a bearer, and a third who gives magic,” Koama explained patiently.

“But I'm not a dragel!”

“No,” Koama agreed, “Someone has made especially sure that you won't come into your inheritance. But you are a born dragel whether you inherit or not. And if I have my way, by the end of today your seal will be broken,” she adds the last point by gesturing to Heroy.

“Heroy Laguna, runemaster,” Heroy introduced himself.

“But! But!” the boy kept stuttering, looking wildly around the room for assistance. Tom gave a low croon of comfort by pure instinct and then looked shocked at himself.

“Let me take a look at you, okay?” Heroy said calmly. Koama always admired the runemaster's calm confidence that could assure most with his professionalism. Koama's own deadpan attitude could ruffle fins and feathers equally.

A quick examination by Heroy later and he nodded to Koama. It seemed he agreed with her findings.

“I'll begin setting up for a ritual after I check the father,” Heroy said, stunning Tom by calling him the father of Harry so simply.

Heroy began throwing more spells at Tom before frowning at the results.

“There's vague imprints of the seals used, but they're completely harmless. You broke them completely somehow in a way that was actually safe.”

Tom kept quiet on what happened even when Levi looked interested at his student's answer.

Harry glared at Tom with a burning look. Apparently he had at least an idea of what happened and wasn't happy about it. Koama would bet money that the way to get the most answers was to prompt the kid but wasn't going to do Levi's job for him. He brought this mess of a situation to her, he was on his own for handling his student.

Heroy excused himself to one of the rooms prepared for rituals and began setting up.

Koama looked at the three and snake left in her office before moving back over towards the boy. Levi's student was fine. Magically and physically a miracle kind of fine. The boy on the other hand was a mess of issues that was having her healer's instincts on edge.

“By my scans you are fourteen years old, correct?”

Levi looked surprised but the boy just nodded.

“You have some concerning health issues, especially for your age. I will prescribe you some potions and a diet plan but you have to follow them to reach optimal health.”

Harry just gave a blank look at Koama and the woman sighed. She could tell that Harry wouldn't be an easy patient at all.

Koama began to bustle around her office, grabbing different potion vials and a vial of pure healer's blood. Handing the potions to the boy, who reluctantly took them, she went over to her desk which had water resistant papers. She began to write down her list of prescribed potions on one sheet and the diet plan on another.

Heroy came back into the room and said, “I'm ready for the cleansing,” and everyone in the room tensed.

It was time to get some of those seals off the child.
