Chapter 1
The night of November 1st wasn't extremely cold, the winter was coming close but it wasn't there for another month. Remus was waiting for the moon to rise over the horizont, reflecting in the news that he had just reviced. Morning came with the news of Voldemort death, but it had cost his bestfriends, Lily and James, their lifes, at least little Harry was alright. Dumbledore had been the one to tell him the news, and as he wasn't allowed in the wizard word to take care of Harry, the older man had promised to find a good place for Harry, at least until Sirius appeared. Then this afternoon, just before dinner, his former headmaster had visited again. Sirius had been behind the murder of another of his friends, Petter, and a dozen of muggles, and was now under arrest.
The moon started to shine behind the clouds, and for the first time in many years Moony was alone again. It was a new place for him, as Remus always choose a diferent forest to change, tonight for some reason unkown to the man he had chosen one in Surrey even if he had planed to change somewhere more at the north of the country.
Finally the painfull transformation finished and Moony howled at the partly hidden moon. Finally free of the control of the man, the wolf ran throught the forest without care of the world, looking for a prey. The clouds were finally discharging some rain, Moony had scared some owls but tonight he wanted something bigger that a mere owl. Finally after some hours Moony finally smelt a prey worth hunting, a human prey. The wolf ran towards his victim, there in the middle of the forest was a toddler, covered in a blanked and pacefully sleeping. Moony prepared to attack, he advanced almost tasting the flesh and blood, he bitten the boy in one of the uncovered arms. As soon as he drawned blood some magical protection activated, sending the wolf flying and then crashing into the forest ground. Taking some minutes to fully regain his senses the wolf decided that they boy wasn't worth the pain, he didn't even tasted hood, and went to search a different prey, hopefully more tasty than the bitter human. The wolf wasn't able to hunt anything, the birds to high in the branches and it seemed that no other animals walked through that forest. Knowing that the human wouldn't want to awake in a diferent place he returned to the clearing when the man had turned into a wolf. Moony knew that it was the only thing that kept him free and not looked in a cage, it was kind of a pact between man and wolf, the man wouldn't look himself and the wolf woul return to the place were he appeared and wouldn't turn humans.
The sun risedover the horizont, and the wolf turned again into a man. Remus slowly moved arround, noticing that he was in the same place as the night before. The man could taste blood in his mouth, and though that Moony had probably had hunt a rabbit or something. He dressed, took a pain relief potion and some breakfast that he had packed, and decided to go and search the victim of the wolf, if was better that he vanished any remain left by the wolf or there could be trouble.
He look arround the place, going farther away from the starting point. Remus couldn't find any remains, but he knew that sooner or latter he would find some bones of an animal, as all those times before. Suddenly he heard crying. Forgetting about the death animal he went in the direction of the sound. There in a clearing in the forest was a small kid, still toddler, crying. He aproached carefully, he could see his black hair, and to Remus horror a fluffy white blanket with blood in it. Remus heart stopped for a second, and wondered if Moony had broken his part of the deal. There were a single bit in his left harm, Remus carefully took the kid in his arms trying to confort him, and cast a spell to signal who or what had bitten the boy, and Remus was sure that he was a boy. The spell indicated that He had bitten the child, that Moony had attacked the boy and broken their deal. They had turned an inocent child, Remus was devastated, he couldn't believe that he had been so stupid as to think that Moony would fullfil their pact. He was a monster, and could never forgive himself.
The boy finally stoped crying, and Remus could see his bright green eyes. For a second he though of Harry, the son of his recently deceased friends, before remind himself that the boy was somewhere safe, Dumbledore had promise him that. But there was a nagging feeling, it couldn't be he thought, but what if he was. He moved the fridge of the boy with trembling hands, and there in his forehead was a lighting bolt scar. Remus had just bitten the Boy-who-lived. The savior of the wizard world was now a werewolf, that was, Remus thought, if he could survive the transformation.
Albus Dumbledore was a busy man, specially now with the fall of Voldemort. He was reclamed by both the politicaians and public, who wanted to know every detail of the defeat of the wizard that had caused so much destruction and death. But, even with all of that, Albus had took time to look after little Harry, that was now in the hand of Poppy, and sending Minerva to analise the house of the boy's family. Albus was planning to leave him there, and wanted to know the family daily life.
And he had been keeping Remus Lupin, close friend of the Potters, updated with the last news. First to tell him in person about the Potters's death the previous night, the survival of Harry and the dissapearence of Sirius Black. Then to tell him before he could get the news that Sirius was no longer missing, instead he was in custody after the murdering of Peter Pettigrew and a docen of muggles that same afternoon. Albus couldn't think of anything else that the poor man, and his day was only gonna get worse, he knew that Remus would suffer a horrible night because for the first time in many years the wolf would be alone.
The night had finally arrived, Albus had sent Hagrid ahead with Black's motorbike, as he didn't want to appear Harry, after all that he had recently been through he thought that it could be dangerous for the boy. Once he was sure that Hagrid was close to Privet Drive, Albus appeared there, and joined Minerva waiting. Hagrid arrived soon after with little Harry sleeping. Minerva told him that they were the worst sort of muggles, Albus knew that Harry might not grew the most loved, but hoped the family will, with a little time, acept him.
Albus placed the sleeping boy in front of the door of the Dursleys, puting some spells to keep Harry sleeping and warm until the morning and some protections were added to the place, to keep Harry safe from harm for the weather or people that weren't the Dursleys. He put his wand away, and with Minerva and Hagrid they wished the boy luck and disappeared.
Vernon Dursley was a normal man, with a very normal family, thank you very much. He lived with his lovely wife and son, and worked at a drills company. He was a very susccesfull man, as his new position showed. He had recently gotten a promotion, and somedays, like today, he had to stay late to finish all the work, but the extra money and other benefits made it worth it.
It was late at night when Vernon Dursley finanlly arrived at home. The lights off, indicating that Petunia and Dudley were already sleeping. He stepped out of the car, and walked to sort distance to the front door. He was almost there when he saw it. There was something in the ground, the dim light made difficult to see clearly, but it looked as a small kid in a blanket, abandoned there in their footstep. Vernon picked the child, it looked younger that his Dudley, Vernon wondered what kind of psico would do something like this to a baby.
He entered the house, doing almost no sound, as he didn't want to wake his family or the misterious baby. He put him, as it look like a boy, carefully in the couch and returned to the hall to get the phone and call the police. He might not have been as silent as he had hoped or maybe it was that Petunia had waited form him awake, as she was still dressed in everyday clothes, when he saw her going down the stairs. With the situation soon explained Petunia went to look after the child as Vernon called the police. Vernon was about to dial the number when he heard his wife screach. As kickly as he could he returned to the living room, and after noticing his wife pale expresion left the phone to see what was the matter, Vernon just hopped that it wasn't anything wrong with the kid.
But Petunia wasn't very talkative and just pushed a crumbled letter in his hands as an explanation. Vernon read, and soon understood his wife. Petunia wasn't in good terms with her strange sister, they were abnormal, the wrong short she had always said, and Vernon didn't need any other explanation, after all you can't always choose with which people you are related. Still Vernon wanted to call the police and get the child to a good house, he wouldn't what his son abandoned if something were to happend to Tuney and him. But she was addamant that if they did that, it would only end up with them taking care of the boy. That was something that Vernon wasn't against, he had wanted two or three children but Petunia had been unable to had more children. As he saw it it was a miracle, their chance to have a bigger family. But not to Petunia, she didn't see it that was, for her the child was an abomination and a reminder of her horrible sister.
Finally Petunia got of from her position, took the child ruddly with her anannounced that she would get rid of the rubish and that he took cared of Dudley for a couple of hours. She grabed a jacked, the keys from the car and slamed the door after her. His car could be heard hastly leaving the house. All the noise woke up Dudley, and Vernon went upstairs to calm his son. After Dudley finally returned to his bed, soundly sleep, Vernon packed some cloths for himself and his son, he wasn't going to wait for his soon to be exwife to return. Vernon thought that someone that acted that way wasn't someone he wanted to remain married and had a family together. Carefully he put the bags in the other car, picked carefully Duddley and put him in his chair. He drived away without looking back, his only thoughts were to protect his son from his clearly insane mother. He had drived all night and had reached his sister house aa the sun was peaking form the horizont, he was sure that Duddley would love to spend some time with his Aunt Marge. Finally with his son under the care of his sister, Vernon finally was able to go to the police to tell them about what had happened.
He just hopped that it wouldn't be too late for the unknow kid.
