Chapter 1

It was the morning of November 1st, 1981 when the Petunia Dursley was bringing out the milk bottles that she found a baby whose hair was constantly changing colors outside the door. The child was crying hysterically and his hair couldn't seem to chose whether it wanted to be a bright auburn red or dark pitch black. She immediately brought the him into her home in what would seem to be out of the goodness of her heart, the reality was that as she didn't want the neighbors to see and then gossip if they found out a baby was left on her doorstep let alone a child as freakish as this one.

"Vernon! I need some help here, now!" Petunia yelled as she dropped the baby onto the counter, as far a possible from her own child, causing a letter to fall out of his bundle.

"What could possibly be worth risking me being late to work, you know I'm aiming to get a promotion!" The man, Vernon, yelled from upstairs.

"A child! It was left on our door... it's one of those freakish ones!"

"What?!" He came waddling down the stairs at the fastest speed he could go (not very fast), "I thought you said that rubbish wouldn't be in our life!"

"I don't know what it's doing here! It only came with a letter," The Dursley parents opened the letter as their own child made his way over and started to poke and prod at the colorful hair of the one in the bundle. When Petunia noticed she picked him up at once, completely forgetting about the letter after she had tucked it back into the bundle. "Diddykins, don't get near that freak! Who knows what disease it might give you!"

"Who cares why it's here! Lets forget about the letter, it's freakish and not healthy for our son to be around, lets just leave it somewhere!"

"But it's eyes kind of reminds me of-"

"It doesn't matter!  We shouldn't let it around Dudley!"

Petunia couldn't say Vernon was wrong for that so that's exactly what the couple did, picked up the bundle, trying their hardest not to make any contact with the baby and brought it into their car. From there they drove for as long as they could before their absence would seem suspicious to prying neighbors who visited Petunia daily. The family of 3 ended up stopped in Northampton and dropped the kid off at the door of the first children's home they could without ever even learning his name. In a town called Moulton they dropped the bundle off, called it a day and decided to go home to celebrate a job well done.

When they got home not one of them ever thought of that day again, they didn't even realize that by the time they had dropped the baby off he had calmed down, as if he had finally got over a really bad dream, and had hair that was only one color, a mess of black untidy hair, becoming a seemly normal baby that the Dursleys would have allow into their home if they had read the letter and weren't distracted. When the workers from the home next found the child they would find a letter in his bundle to a Mr. and Mrs. Dursley leaving one Harry Potter to her due to the magical death of his parents due to a magical war. They would never actually believe the contents of that letter but at least it did give the kid a name.
