Chapter 4

Pandora:

I knocked on the door, “Professor McGonagall?”

“Come in” I turned to Regulus

“You leave now.”

“No, you said I could walk you back, how will I know when you're done if I don’t wait here?”

“Reg y-”

“I said that I would walk you to and from, it’s too late to negotiate, go inside” let out an exasperated sigh before I steeled myself and marched into the office. Well, it wasn’t really a march as it was an unsteady walk. When I got to her desk she looked up from some parchment she was grading.

“Ms. Lestrange, have a seat”

“I prefer being called by my first name if you don’t mind terribly,” I said sitting down

“Fine then, Ms. Pandora, how may I help you?”

“I need to talk to you about something…strange”

“Like what? Dark magic?”

“No, I don’t think it’s dark magic, I had never really thought that it could be, though I suppose it isn’t exactly natural.”

“Ms. Le-Pandora, what are you talking about,” She said with worry in her eyes. Silly really it’s not me she needs to worry about, it’s not me who's going to die, “Is everything alright?”

“I- My friends, I mean- well it’s- it’s just that-” I started tearing up again. I didn’t know what to say, it was too much and it was too loud in my mind. I balled my hands and put them on the back of my head, it’s nice.

“Ms. Pandora, I can see what you’re trying to tell me is causing you discomfort. If you want I could perform a spell that will allow you to simply think what you need to say and I will hear it.”

“I think that would work best,” I said.

Mens Lectio” she waved her wand and I felt a tug in my mind

Hello?’

“Hello, Ms. Pandora,” Professor McGonagall responded out loud “What would you like to show me?”

There were death eaters everywhere, Dorcas standing in the middle firing spells as fast as she can; she was winning. Death eaters were falling fast their masks of silver falling from their faces, among them an older version of Lucius Malfoy, a popular boy ahead of me, fighting

Then all of the fighting stopped and an excited whisper went through the crowd and they seemed to part down the middle. Standing in the middle of the newly cleared aisle stood a figure in long black robes.

‘No,’ whispered Vision Dorcas

‘Yes.’ said the robed figure

Green light surged toward Dorcas as a scream started to leave her lips

Barty was much older, he had a crazed look to him. He was explaining how he had killed his father, about how ‘The Dark Lord’ was going to return. A young boy with glasses and messy black hair was watching intently. Soon the boy with glasses and a few teachers left as a tubby man in a green bowler remained. Barty looked over at him and flicked his tongue out.

‘Your ministry stands no chance against the Dark Lord, NO CHANCE’ he yelled. The man in the bowler hat looked terrified and shouted for help. A burly-looking man walked in with a dementor captured in a ball of light. The man let the light fall and the dementor swooped to Barty giving him his final kiss.

It was dark, and Evan was crying. He was standing in the middle of a forest and a photo clutched to his chest as sobs racked his body. A twig snapped and a bulky figure stepped into the almost nonexistent moonlight. He had a chunk taken out of his nose and scars all along his face and a cane that he leaned heavily on.

‘Let's finish this here Rosier.’ he called but Evan did not look, he continued sobbing falling to his knees

‘KILL ME!’ he roared tears falling fast down and off his face,

‘Fight me first!’ called the man with his lips ever slightly turned up. Evan didn’t even try a powerful spell, it was a spell I invented, it made bubbles that looked like butterflies. Moody fired a green bolt of light, and Evan smiled through the pain for the last time.

Regulus was in a dark cave standing with a house elf

‘Kreacher, once I get it you must leave and destroy it. Do not tell anyone. Understood?’

‘Yes master’ responded the elf; a grimace set permanently on his face. Regulus sighed and looked toward a strange crystal pedestal with a bowl on top.

“Panda, I'm so sorry, please forgive me.” A single tear fell down his face and he walked toward the pedestal. He picked up a shell and used it to scoop up the liquid in the bowl. He drank.

It was dark, the whomping willow was standing still hovering in the air as if it were in slow motion. A black dog ran to a hole in the base of the trunk and sat next to it. A figure came racing down the hill from the castle towards the tree. Once it reached the trunk moonlight fell on the figure revealing it to be Snape. He walked in the hole, wand up in front of him. A few seconds later James came sprinting down the hill and bolted into the hole, no sooner had he entered than a scream of pure terror rang out. James had Severus around the waist and was dragging him out of the hole of the tree the dog came out again stopping a snout from biting Snape.

Remus and Sirius were standing in a dark hallway. They studied each other both with a melancholy look in their eyes.

“I owe you an apology,” Sirius said after many moments of silence

“So you do,” Remus said shortly

“I’m so so sorry I thought you were the spy and I’m so sorry about what happened with Snape and I'm so sorry that I gave you cause to think I couldn’t be trusted and I'm sorry I went to Azkaban and left you alone and I’m so-”

“Let me stop you right there,” Remus interrupted, “You're not the only one at fault here. I was willing to believe that you betrayed James, your brother in everything but blood. I’m sorry I didn’t trust you, Merlin's pants I wish I had, but that doesn’t change the fact that I didn’t. Sorry,” he finished lamely. Sirius wrapped Remus in a hug and hung on like the world was ending. Remus hugged him back.

Professor McGonagall sat back in her chair staring wide-eyed at me. I looked back.

“Ms. Pandora, what was that?” she said still looking at me

“My visions, Ma’am," I responded starting to get uncomfortable

"And, how long have you been having these…visions"

"For as long as I can remember, they didn't really have a starting point that I can direct you to, unfortunately"

"And do these visions always come true?"

"Most of the time they come to be, but sometimes something changes between when I first see the vision and when it comes time to live it and-” I broke off, not wanting to share my worries with her.

“Ms. Pandora, you should know, I don’t plan on sharing this conversation or your visions with anyone.”

“I was wondering,” I started slowly “If it would be possible to purposely change the future, to fix things, make them better” She paused considering my words

“I am not going to tell you not to try, but I will tell you that you need to be careful, when people mess with time strange things happen.”

“Like with a time turner?”

“Yes, but I suppose that those visions haven't come to fruition yet, so one would assume that you could change them." She paused and a smile appeared on her stern face. My mind started to produce a plan.

"Thank you, professor, I believe I should depart now," I said, my mind still whirring with half-realized ideas.

I walked out of her office determined to fix what hadn't been broken. Well, not yet anyways.
