Mary
The summer holidays were quite the same as last year. Remus spent most of it at home, where he helped his parents with their farm and hung out in the near village with some of the people he knew from when they were children. In August he visited the Potters for one week, Peter was also there.
The full moon in September was on the first and there was no way he could transform in the train, which wouldn't arrive before the moon rose. So Remus had to go to Hogwarts otherwise.
So, officially, Remus had missed the train and was brought to Hogwarts by floo. He was disappointed not to be able to travel on the Hogwarts Exprees with his friends but they promised to come to see him in the morning after.
When he woke up in Hospital wing said day, his roommates sat around him. "Moony!", Peter called out as silently as possible. "How was it?", James asked.
"Okay", Remus mumbled, "I only got two new scars on my back so I can easily hide them."
Nobody of the other students noticed that Remus was limping a bit after he had apparently missed the train, probably because he often did, especially after fulls. Also he was quite subtle about it.
The time passed fast and suddenly they were already in the middle of October. Remus was sitting in the common room with Marlene, Lily's other best friend, and Mary, their roommate. She and Marlene seemed to be quite good friends but it seemed something had happened between Mary and Lily because they were rarely seen in the same room except for classes.
When Remus thought about it, he noticed that he had never even seen them talk to each other. Maybe there had been a fight, back in first year? He had no idea and he wasn't going to ask.
Remus thought the two of them okay, though he didn't like them as much as Lily. They were more annoying because they constantly giggled and gossiped about anyone and anything. At least four times they both watched Remus for a few moments but when he raised his head to ask what was wrong, they immediately turned away, giggled and acted as if nothing had happened. Yes, it really was annoying. Especially Mary, who laughed the most and continually played with her hair. She always blinked at him in such a weird way with her long lashes, her unbelievable amount of mascara almost dripping off.
He was just about to leave when Marlene stood up and said that she was going to the lavatory, Lily had already left by then. He couldn't just leave Mary by herself, it would be quite unpolite. Sighing Remus stared into the flames in the fireplace. Now that he was alone with Mary he had no idea what to say. He didn't really know her so really, how could they talk about something? If you asked Remus, they could've just stayed silent but Mary didn't seem to share that opinion when she spoke up.
"Soo, Remus, how are you doing? You haven't talked much this afternoon. Aren't you hot in that jumper? It's only October and still quite warm."
Was she seriously talking about the weather? And how did it concern her if he was comfortable in his jumper? He mostly wore it to hide his scars, but also because he easily got cold.
"I'm fine.", he said a bit coolly, "I always freeze, that's why I start wearing jumpers early in year."
"Not very chatty today, are you?", she grinned.
Remus arched an eyebrow at her. What did she expect? That they just started doing small talk and immediately got best friends? It had been like that with Sirius, once Remus actually talked to him, but that didn't matter at the moment.
"I see, you're more the silent and sarcastic type. Not that I expected something else. I like quiet boys. Do you have a girlfriend?"
Remus was a bit surprised about her asking that question straight away, as if she was completely sure not to be rejected. Well, she really was pretty. Maybe she would be good for Remus. She was very outgoing and most people liked her immediately. Except of Remus. But she really was not that bad. He could probably learn something from her and also improve his kissing skills, which weren't very outstanding yet.
"No, I don't... What about you? Having a boyfriend?"
She giggled again and shook her head. "Would I ask if I had one?"
And one second later she was sitting next to Remus on the small sofa, her face coming closer and closer. Now or never, he thought and leaned I'm until they kissed. It was actually better than it had been with Lily. Not what he had once expected, what only existed in books but it was fine. Those feelings just lived in dreams, written down and believed to be true by those who didn't know better.
One moment they were kissing softly, the next they were snogging very intensively and suddenly Remus found himself above her on the sofa, kissing her from jawline to her neck while she moaned slightly.
He was excited, not knowing what would happen and were it would lead, but it also felt so natural and good. As if this was the whole propose of living.
"Get a room, you whores, there are first years in the room."
Remus startled up as though he had been hit by a lightning. He had completely forgotten that they were still in the common room. Many people were staring at them and Remus blushed as scarlett as a tomato in embarrassment. Mary just laughed below him. He noticed that he was still sitting on her lower belly and that she couldn't move much so he got up and quickly ran up the stairs to the boys dormitory.
His plan was to go take a cold shower and forget what happened. What he didn't expect was that Mary had followed him and sat on his bed expectantly. He shivered without noticing it. He wasn't ready for that. He was only fourteen years old and couldn't imagine going that far with a girl yet.
Only minutes before he would have slapped himself for standing as still as a statue but now he was glad they had been interrupted. At least he could think more or less straight now.
He tried to explain that to Mary, which she didn't take very well.
"Look, I'm just not ready yet. I've never gone that far with a girl before. I'm sorry..."
"Goddammit, I hate boys, first they make you horny and then suddenly they're not ready." And with that she stormed out of the room.
Exhausted Remus dropped on his bed and it took him at least ten minutes to get up again and take a deserved shower. The older he got the more he hated being a teenager. Even his transformations had become worse since puberty had hit him like a bus.
