"I hate you."
"Why? I'm lovely."
"Because-" You reached across the table, trying to gather your homework back together. "This is the third time some of my assignments have mysteriously gone 'missing' in this week alone and guess who - give me that - who's being annoying as usual?"
Sirius grinned, still keeping a book out of reach. "Annoyingly charming, right?"
You hummed noncommittally. "Keep telling yourself that. Now can I please have my book back?"
"Sure." He tossed the book at you, then while you fumbled to catch it, leaned forward and snatched up your essay for Charms, leaning his chair onto its back legs. "Hey, this is pretty well written. Would you do my essays too?"
"Absolutely not."
Saturdays were your designated day to study and finish assignments by yourself, and your friends knew that. Sometimes Lily or Remus would come study with you in the library, or even just sit and keep you company in silence. But every so often, which ended up being more than you cared for, James and/or Sirius would come and bug you just for the hell of it.
Just like today.
"I could make this sound like I wrote it. Probably. Shouldn't be too hard." Sirius flattened the essay on the table with one hand and reached for your quill.
"Sirius! Don't-"
You lunged out of the chair, trying to get your essay back, but Sirius got up just as quickly, holding the parchment above his head as he rounded the other side of the table.
"Tsk-tsk, didn't your parents teach you not to grab things without asking?" he scolded. "Besides, I wouldn't really take the credit for your work."
You scoffed. "Wouldn't put it past you to at least try. Now come on, please just-" You reached up on your tiptoes, but it was pointless. Sirius just grinned when you huffed in frustration. "It's not fair that you're so tall, bloody hell."
"Blame my superior genetics."
"Yeah, right."
"Oh come on. You've been studying all day, you should take a break."
"I can't take a break, because you keep interrupting me, and I really need to get this done. So for ten minutes can you please be si-"
Sirius grinned again. "You know I'm always-"
"Ah-ah-ah!" You interrupted him by pointing a finger in his face, the other hand covering his mouth. "Do not finish that sentence. And for your information, I was going to say 'be silent'."
"That's no fun," he complained, his words muffled against your hand.
"It wasn't supposed to be." You removed your hand and took a step back, although you kept your hand partially raised. "I'm here to study because the library is usually quiet, so if you're going to stay here, can you please be quiet and not distract me? Then I can be done quicker."
Sirius pouted for a couple moments, but he lowered his hand and finally gave you back your damn essay. "Swear that we can leave as soon as you're done? James and I came up with some new ideas for pranks, I want to see what you think of them."
"Yes, I'll leave as soon as I'm done, but not because of your prank ideas." You accepted the parchment and hid it behind your back for good measure. You frowned in mock annoyance. "I don't know why I'm even dating you. You're just lucky you're pretty."
Laughing, Sirius pressed a kiss to your forehead. "I told you; it's my superior genetics, love."
"Oh for Merlin's sake, would you stop? "
