40. There Is Only One Happiness In This Life, To Love And Be Loved

Hermione looked at herself in the mirror and tried to convince herself that this afternoon was going to go without a hitch. It wasn't a very difficult persuasion as she was just vibrating with happiness at the moment. It had been a month since she and Blaise had settled things, and it seemed like going slowly wasn't quite in their power, so yesterday they did something completely insane. Well, it wasn't that insane, just very impulsive.

"You think Ginny didn't slip out?" Blaise asked as he walked into their bedroom to see what was taking her so long.

"I can only hope," she chuckled, knowing her friend very well, knowing how hard it must be for her.

Blaise walked over to her and hugged her from behind. "Um, maybe Theodore gave her some tips on how to keep a secret," he joked, kissing her head. He still couldn't believe it. And the truth was that he tried not to think too much about it, or he would jump to conclusions that almost robbed him of the most valuable thing he ever had.

“I wish, I really would like it if they found out from us. Maybe we should have told them we got back together," she sighed.

"I kind of think they know anyway, even though we tried so hard to hide it last dinner at the Burrow," he laughed. "Actually, I'm kind of surprised Charlie didn't tell it out on us."

"True that," she laughed too. It was very difficult to explain to Charlie not to tell anyone about Blaise moving in with them. Not that they didn't want the others to know, of course they did. They just wanted a little more time to themselves. They needed time to themselves. To make sure they were on the same page so that this time it would work out for them and it wouldn't affect Charlie in any way.

“Mommy! Daddy! Let's go!" shouted Charlie, running to them. He was looking forward to going to the Burrow today more than usual because everyone would be there, and Quidditch would be played.

"We're on our way," Hermione assured him, turning in Blaise's embrace to give him a quick kiss before slipping away and following Charlie, who had already run out of the bedroom.

Blaise followed his wife and couldn't help but smile. His wife.

“Are you ready?” he asked when he found them standing in front of the fireplace.

"We are," Hermione confirmed, holding Charlie's hand tightly to prevent him from running into the fireplace without them.

Together they flooded to the Burrow, where it was suspiciously quiet, so most likely everyone was in the garden, where their already traditional friendly game of quidditch was supposed to take place. All but Ron, who was heading in that direction.

"The second time together? Is that some new tradition of yours?" he wondered when he noticed them.

Blaise smirked and put his arm around Hermione's shoulders. "Actually, it is," he said contentedly, earning a small slap on the hand from Hermione.

"You might be worse than Ginny," she hissed softly.

“Mom! You have to see that!” the redhead yelled outwards, but it was highly unlikely that Molly could hear him.

"Is everyone here yet?" Hermione asked as they walked out into the garden together.

Ron nodded. "We were only waiting for you."

"You're finally here, children," Molly greeted them and went to hug them.

"And they came together again," added Ron.

"What about it?" didn't understand Harry, who saw nothing strange about it when they were talking normally again.

Ron shrugged. "I don't know, let them tell us," he said casually.

Hermione and Blaise looked at each other, but before they could say anything, Charlotte interjected. "Are you back together?" she asked almost in a whisper, so as not to startle them with her question, but everyone present heard her very well and fixed their gazes on them.

They both nodded, and Hermione held up her hand, an old familiar ring glinting on it. "Actually, we kind of remarried yesterday," she said with a smile.

And as expected, everyone present was very pleased with this news. Hermione and Blaise suddenly found themselves surrounded by their family and friends as everyone wanted to congratulate them. The brunette almost thought they were more excited about this than when they got married for the first time. She was glad for that. A small part of her was worried that they would be angry with them for doing so without their knowledge and presence at the ceremony, but since it was an impulsive decision, there was no time to tell them. Besides, they didn't want a big wedding when they already had one. So nobody actually lost anything.

"Wait, wait," Harry interrupted the wave of congratulations, looking rather thoughtful. "But someone had to be maid of honor and best man."

"Of course, the exact same people as the first time," Blaise smirked.

"So that's what you did yesterday?" he asked his wife in surprise.

Ginny just shrugged, but a sly smile was on her face.

"I have to say I'm surprised you didn't tell," Theo said appreciatively, somewhat expecting the redhead would slip out to her husband.

Before she could say anything, Tom joined the conversation. He had been invited by Ginny because, besides her, they also needed a stand-in for Draco when only Theo had arrived from France. "I don't like to interrupt this joyful moment, but we came to play, didn't we?" he asked a rather rhetorical question.

"Oh yeah, you can tell he is a professional Quidditch player right away," George scoffed. "Ginny didn't let us rest either."

"But he's right, so let's get to it," urged Ginny, whom Hermione was happy to leave the post of referee for today.

After her words, there was a bit of confusion as everyone tried to get to their place and prepare for the game, but they were all used to it so they could navigate it.

"So, are you going to catch me the golden snitch?" Hermione asked with a smile as they all stopped noticing them.

Blaise grabbed her around the waist. "You know very well that I play as a chaser."

"You act like you don't change positions whenever you want," she teased him, but before he could say anything, she pulled him into a kiss. "Just win, okay?" she whispered against his lips before pulling away from him completely and breaking away after Charlie, who ran off after Daphne.

"I hope our little munchkin isn't giving you trouble," she said as she stopped by the pair.

"Mommy!" Charlie protested almost indignantly.

"I'm just kidding," Hermione assured him, ruffling his curls.

Daphne watched them with a smile on her face. "He really is an angel," she confirmed.

The brunette nodded as she couldn't help but agree. “Is it just you and Theo?” she asked quietly.

And this time it was the blonde who nodded. "He thought it was still too early."

"Isn't he too troubled there?" she asked with a sigh. He'd only written her one letter that month, and that was when he'd settled in a bit. And even though she was extremely happy right now, it broke her heart to think he was troubled.

"I don't think so," Daphne reassured her. "You know, he wasn't the only one who came back to France with us. Astoria needed a change of scenery too," she added with a small smirk.

Hermione was surprised. "Seriously? That's good, innit?"

"I don't know anything concrete, but from my point of view, it's very good. They are a giant support for each other," she confided in her, and a huge stone fell from Hermione's heart. It seemed that everything would turn out well after all. Just like she told him.

"The match can begin," Ginny appeared at them, interrupting them. "Can you help me?"

"Of course," Hermione agreed. "If you need anything, I'll be with Aunt Ginny, okay?" she announced to Charlie who just nodded and was already looking around to see who he would join in cheering.

The game started, and Hermione was quite glad her friend wasn't playing. Ginny was a pro, so she didn't have to concentrate as intensely as the brunette, which worked to her advantage as she needed to ask Mrs. Zabini something.

“So, you and Draco?” she said after ten minutes of the match.

The brunette wasn't even surprised by her question. "What do you want me to say, it just happened. I'm not proud of it."

"What do I want? Some details! You're so lucky to have landed not just one, but two of the hottest guys I know," she stated, and Hermione gave her a shocked look.

“Ginny!” she blurted out in horror as her cheeks turned a tiny shade of red.

"Leave me alone, it's the pregnancy hormones," she said with a roll of her eyes. "I love Harry more than anything, but I'm not blind. I know a hot guy when I see one. And what are we going to lie to ourselves about? Those bloody Slytherins are a feast for the eyes. Well, don't say you didn't notice Theodore doesn't look bad either.”

Hermione had to laugh at that. That was all Ginny. She rather quickly told her how it actually happened and what happened next. How she couldn't stop it even though she knew how bad it was. How did Draco get it into his head that he wanted something more. And how her heart belonged to her husband.

"You know, maybe if it were different. Maybe if I hadn't befriended Blaise, maybe we would have had a chance, but once Blaise took up residence in my heart, it was clear that he would never leave it," she concluded her narration.

"Maybe, but since he's friends with Draco, you'd probably have to be friends with him anyway. And then what? Would you leave Draco for his best friend? You wouldn't do that. Yes, this was stupid, and it wasn't appropriate, but when it comes down to it, you were divorced, and it was only physical. What if you didn't become friends with Baise at school, but only because of Draco, and you still found out he was the one? I think it worked out the way it was supposed to,” the redhead said her theory, and Hermione had to admit there was something to it.

"Me too," she smiled and searched the sky for her husband.

Everything was as it should be.
