35. Every Happy Love Is Sad Because Love Is Like The Whole World, Bitter But Sweet

Blaise had gone through more emotions in the past few hours than he had in his entire life. What he had just learned… The pain he felt after her confession could not even be described in words. Sure, knowing she had something with someone hurt, but she was right. It wasn't so much that she slept with someone else as it was who she slept with, because this was more or less a double betrayal. He couldn't blame her for having an affair, but he certainly could blame her for having one with Draco.

He got up from his chair so fiercely that it creaked, and he immediately glanced at Charlie to see if it had woken him up, and when he found that it hadn't he turned towards the door without another glance at Hermione.

"Blaise," Hermione sniffed.

He shook his head but didn't turn to her. "No," he just said and was already out of the room.

A surprise was waiting for him in the corridor. Blaise would probably be moved, but as soon as his eyes rested on the blond man he thought of as his brother just a few minutes ago, all he felt was anger. He walked towards him without thinking, and before Draco could say anything, he already had him by the collar and was preparing to punch him hard.

"Blaise," Theodore spoke next to him as the others just watched in confusion.

Blaise took a deep breath. "The two of us are done," he gritted out before letting go of him and walking away.

Theodore was the first to follow him. Charlotte, needing to know what had caused such a reaction in her son, was second.

"Why didn't you make yourself known?" asked a tearful Hermione as she appeared in the doorway. “It's really nice of you to be here, but you should go home. Charlie's asleep now anyway, and that's probably not going to change."

Everyone present Harry, Ginny, Ron, Draco, Daphne, Jean, and Molly looked at her with obvious confusion in their eyes, but no one said anything.

“Did you tell him? Are you completely out of your mind?” Draco was the first to speak, earning him confused looks for a change.

Hermione gave him a hard look that even he wouldn't be ashamed of. “You really should go, there's no point in you staying here overnight. Charlie is doing well, it's just a matter of not having another seizure in the next 24 hours,” she informed them, receiving comforting hugs, words of comfort, and well wishes from everyone.

She waited for everyone to leave, wiped her tears, and turned back to Charlie. Right now, it didn't matter how much she messed up. All that mattered right now was Charlie and that he would be okay.

Blaise paced in front of the hospital building, trying to sort out the last five minutes. He couldn't believe his luck when Hermione said she would marry him again. He did not understand how in a matter of seconds this happiness could disappear and be replaced by such excruciating pain. He was never the type of person to experience things too much. But this almost brought him to his knees.

"What happened there?" Theodore asked, joining him after a short while.

"I told Hermione to marry me," he replied with the better news of the day.

With that, Charlotte also left the hospital building, but she decided to stay in seclusion for now. She knew how close they were to each other, and maybe she would learn more from their conversation than she would if she talked to her son herself.

Theodore was quite surprised by his answer. "You did?" was all he could manage. Everyone had been trying to open their eyes for such a long time that Theo had stopped hoping for their reunion.

Blaise nodded and balled his hands into fists. "And you know what? She agreed, but then she added something that completely shocked me and I changed my mind about marriage very quickly.'

“Look, I know this is infuriating, but don't do anything you'll regret later, okay?” Theo sighed, not knowing what else to say. He knew it would be disastrous if Blaise found out, but he still secretly hoped they would somehow manage to cover it up. But he understood why Hermione told him. If their marriage was going to have a chance, he had to find out now, not later.

Blaise looked at him in disbelief and quickly approached him. "Did you know?!"

"Yes," he replied with icy calmness.

"And you didn't tell me anything about it? Holy shit, she's my ex-wife! A woman I still love very much, and you knew it!” he yelled angrily, trying to control the temptation to punch him.

"You know I couldn't," said Theo, still calm. He was used to working with his enraged friends, and while it was mostly Draco he had to tame, he could take care of Blaise as well.

Blaise took a breath to say something, but quickly closed his mouth again. Because his friend was right. He knew it. And although Theo didn't have to agree with their behavior, he always kept everything to himself. And that was the reason why he, and neither Draco, were not afraid to confide in him. Theodore made it clear to them that unless someone's life was on the line, anything they told him would stay with him.

“I can't imagine how you must be feeling right now, but you should probably try to put it behind you. Charlie needs you,” Theo muttered sadly.

"He's right," Charlotte finally interjected into their conversation. "I don't know what you were talking about, but you should go back there."

"I know, I just needed some air," Blaise assured them. He would never leave Charlie.

The two present just nodded at that, and before any of them could say anything else, Daphne appeared beside them.

"Let's go home Theo, we'll stop by Charlie tomorrow when he's awake and get him a nice toy," she said casually towards her fiancé, taking his hand before looking at Blaise. "Like most of us, I don't know what happened, but you should probably go back to Hermione."

Blaise sighed and slowly walked back inside. He didn't want to leave Charlie or his ex-wife in this situation. The problem was that he wasn't sure he could be the support Hermione needed now that he knew the truth about what had been going on during their illegitimacy. He was for sure going to deal with Draco. As he said, he was done with him, but he still wanted to hit him hard. To beat his Malfoy arrogance out of him. But what about Hermione? He couldn't just end it with her. Not only because he still loved her, but also because she was the mother of their son. And he's definitely not going to let this get to Charlie in any way.

A little reluctantly, he opened the door to the room where Charlie lay and quietly entered. Looking down at the ground, he walked over to Hermione,  picked up the chair he had been sitting on earlier, and carried it to the other side of the bed where he sat down. He couldn't even look at the brunette because even though her actions hurt him beyond belief, he knew that one look at her and he would forgive her everything. He was that crazy about her.
