Chapter 4
Lily Evans was a model, a great model at that. When she came out as gay, she was worried it might ruin her career but thankfully she found it did the opposite. She was very grateful to be romantically linked to her best friend James Potter a lot less, even though it did of course still happen sometimes.
Lily had always prided herself on being able to handle her gay panic quite well, but all that changed when Mary Macdonald walked into her magazine shoot. Mary Macdonald was a fairly up-and-coming photographer, however that all changed when she became Regulus Black’s personal photographer for the Eras Tour. Now though, she was the director for Lily’s first ever Vogue cover. Mary walked up to her smiling and held out her hand. “Hey! Lily, right?”
“Um, yes Lily I am, I mean uh- hi.”
Mary only smiled widely. “ Hi! Big fan, I loved the shoot you did for Attitude the other month I mean as queer woman myself it was just so powerful. Ready to make some more magic?”
“Yes! I- I mean um, wow.” She looked down at her hands. “Thank you so much Mary, I’m a big fan of yours as well. Your shoots for Regulus Black are just insane. I was at his Kansas City show that you photographed, I mean wow.”
“Thank you. Are you ready to start?”
“Yep, all ready.”
It truly was a wonder how Lily made it out of that shoot alive. Mary was a sight to behold even just normally, but the attention she commanded when she was in the zone of shooting was awe inspiring. More than a few times, Lily had to turn away from the camera because she blushed too hard when Mary told her she was doing a good job.
Once the shoot was over, which seemed like after way too long but also not enough time, Mary walked up to her and smiled again. God her smile was radiant. “Hey Lily?”
“Hm?”
“Would you uh, maybe wanna go for coffee after this?”
Lily was taken aback. “You mean like, like a date?”
“Yeah. I mean, if you want. No pressure.”
“I-I’d love to.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“Awesome, let me just grab my coat and we can go. Unless you need anything?”
“Just uh, give me 10 minutes.”
“No worries. Take all the time you need.”

“James, R.A.B is yet to respond to your proposition, do you have anything more you’d like to say to him?”
James chuckled. He’d scored the winning goal for his team today, but still all anyone wanted to talk about was Regulus. He really was the people’s prince. “Well you know, Regulus, I’ve seen you rock the stage at the Gryffindor stadium, maybe you can come and return the favour and watch me score our next win in my home stadium. But really now people, let’s leave some questions for the other guys huh? I know we all love R.A.B but we wouldn’t want the rest of the team to feel left out.”
With that, the reporters moved onto asking questions to Fabian about his tackle of their opponent This allowed James to sit back and think about the dark haired beauty he *maybe* had a date with. Sure enough, when he got back to his phone after the press conference finished there was, among other messages, a text from the object of his affections.
