Chapter 2
Okay so, maybe James had spent his day off listening to R.A.B’s music and watching edits of him on TikTok. Maybe. So what? Sue him.
The singer had always been someone James greatly looked up to, and despite begging his best friend for years, Sirius refused to introduce them. James knew his best friend hadn’t actually talked to his brother in a long time, but even more than James wanted to date Regulus, he wanted his best friend to be happy.
And so, he backed off. Didn’t ask SIrius to pull any strings for him. Instead, he got his best friend LIly to pull the strings and get the two of them tickets to R.A.B’s tour. He’d seen online that a big thing at this tour was Regulus’s fans, the Sickles, making friendship bracelets based off a lyric from his latest album, Midnights. And so, he did.
Hey, he said he’d back off trying to connect Sirius with his brother, not that he’d back off trying to get Regulus to give him the time of day.
With Lily’s help, James made a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, determined to get it to Regulus. Unfortunately, the bracelet did not make it to the singer. Regardless, James and Lily had an amazing time at the concert and each took a lot of pictures with fans - funnily enough, most of Lily’s photos being with Regulus’ fans, the Sickles, and James’ being with their somewhat reluctant-to-attend partners.
Of course, the night had to be ruined by paparazzi catching them and asking if they were back together, to which they responded no they weren’t and Lily was out as a lesbian. Not that the Daily Prophet cared.
That week, after a football game where he’d been instrumental in his team’s win, James was asked about his attendance at the concert.
“Are you a big R.A.B fan James?”
He chuckled in response, “I’ve always greatly admired Regulus and what he does, I think he’s an incredible artist and you know, a very attractive man.”
“Well, he’s single at the moment you know.”
James smiled. “I have been made aware, yes, I actually made a friendship bracelet with my number on it I wanted to give to him. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get it to Regulus but hey, if anyone on his team wants to connect us I wouldn’t say no.” He winked at the camera and looked directly at it. “The ball is entirely in your court, Mr Black.” James thanked his lucky stars that Sirius was sworn off of social media for the moment.
About an hour later, James was gathering his stuff from the locker room when one of his teammates, Fabian, came up to him. “Alright mate?”
“Yeah good Fab, you?”
“Not too bad yeah, look I heard what you were saying in the press conference about uh Regulus Black.”
James did a double take. “Uh, yeah? What are you guys secretly best friends or something?”
“Well, not quite. But uh, I have a twin brother, Gideon.”
“Oh yeah, I met him at the team picnic last year I think. Dancer right?”
“Yeah he's great. But uh also, he’s currently actually dancing for Regulus on his tour.”
“He- what?”
“So if you wanted me to pass that friendship bracelet on…”
“Fabian Prewett, you are my favourite person right now.”
