Arlebina | "I love you like a rotten dog."
Arlecchino couldn't wait for the meeting to be over. Her gaze kept flickering to Columbina's form across the table, watching as the angel twirled her hair absently- she never really listened. She couldn't wait to be behind closed doors, just her alone with Columbina.
Finally, the meeting was over. Arlecchino walked out beside Columbina, her hand brushing against the angel's back. "Columbina... come to my office please. I need you alone for a moment."
Columbina's lips tweaked up slightly at Arlecchino's whispered words. A soft hum and nod was given to the Knave in response. She followed Arlecchino to her office, her mind filled with idea's of what her and her lover would do behind closed doors- hopefully Arlecchino had already trimmed her finger nails.
Once the door was closed Columbina smiled coyly at Arlecchino, wrapping her arms around the much larger Knave. "Why did you call me to your office? What wicked idea's do you have in your mind now, Knave?" Columbina teased, completely sure the reason for her lover's request of privacy was for...nefarious purposes.
So imagine her surprise when Arlecchino completely sank into her arms with a sigh.
Arlecchino buried her face into Columbina's hair, her arms tight around the angel. Columbina stiffened slightly, but soon realized that Arlecchino had guided her to her office for an intimate moment- but this was an intimate moment without sexual activity. Columbina hummed softly, stepping backwards untill she sat down on a nearby black lounge that Arlecchino had in her office. Arlecchino followed her, sinking to the floor on her knees with her head in the angel's lap.
"What happened, Knave?" Columbina sighed softly, running her hand softly through the short part of Arlecchino hair. Arlecchino's hand tightened around where it had Columbina's skirt in her fist, her whole body tensing.
"...I don't know." Arlecchino muttered, her voice low and guarded. She never liked being this vulnerable but she was desperately in need of some form of comfort.
Columbina hummed, dragging her nails softly against Arlecchino's scalp. She knew how much Arlecchino like it. "You're not lying to me, are you?"
Arlecchino finally relented after a few moments of silence. "Another one of the orphans passed today. And I...smelled something that- oh, never mind..."
The angel softly moved her hand to brush against Arlecchino's cheek. "What did you smell?" She already had a suspicion as for what it could be.
"Some woman walked past me earlier, and her perfume smelled a lot like..." Arlecchino tightened her jaw, her grip of Columbina's skirt tightened even more.
"Crucabena's?" Columbina said softly. The way Arlecchino looked away and lowered her gaze told Columbina everything she need to know. She sighed and continued to stroke her lover's hair. "I'm sorry about the orphan..."
"I know." Arlecchino said flatly. She wasn't looking for empathetic words, she just wanted someone to listen. The bare minimum, perhaps, but still. Besids, she didn't think she was worthy of anything more than the bare minimum anyways.
Arlecchino just buried her face into Columbina's lap, memorizing the scent of her clothing.
"I don't deserve you."
The words somehow slipped out of the Knave's mouth.
"Yes you do."
Columbina responded.
"I'm terrible. I'd corrupt and ruin you."
"You think I'm not already corrupted?"
"..."
"I'm already corrupted. Beyond saving."
"...then how are you so gentle?"
"Because you make me want me to be. Even if we aren't supposed to be gentle creatures, I still want to love you gently."
Silence for a few moments. Columbina was convinced Arlecchino had fall asleep.
"Columbina..."
Ah, she was wrong.
"Hmm, yes?"
"...I love you."
Like a rotten dog.
