Harry was sitting patiently in his seat at school, chatting with his desk-mate as he was waiting for his teacher to arrive. Art class was about to start and he was excited as usually, it was his favorite, simply cause the teacher was usually nice, unless the kids upsetted her, and cause he liked to draw even though he wasn't very good at it.
"Good Morning, kids!" the teacher, Ms. Rose said as she entered the classroom. The kids stood up and changed 'good morning' politely. They sat back down as Ms. Rose placed her bag on the teachers desk.
"What shall we draw today, hm?" she asked the kids friendly as she looked around the classroom for absents.
She pretended to think for a minute as if she hasn't prepared the idea in mind already. "How about, we draw our families?" she asked and smiled. The kids nodded in unison, and Ms. Rose gave them a blank paper to each of them.
Everybody started to draw as Ms. Rose started to walk around the classroom in between the desks to look at everybody's work.
Harry looked over at his desk-mate's drawing and frowned. There were only three people?
He brushed it off and focused back on his own drawing.
Ms. Rose approached him from behind and looked at his drawing over his shoulder.
It was him in the middle, on his left there were two women, one with straight orange hair and the other one seemed to have a black afro. On his right there were two men, they didn't look that different from one another though but you could blame that on his drawing skills.
Ms. Rose chuckled awkwardly. "Did you draw your aunt and uncle too, Harry?" she asked softly.
Harry looked up at her innocently and shook his head. "No, these are my moms and dads" he said obliviously and smiled.
"What'd you mean, your moms and dads?" his desk-mate asked in a weirded out tone before Ms. Rose could say anything else.
Harry looked at him. "You don't have two moms and two dads?" he asked, his vision going back and fourth between his desk-mate and his drawing. The little girl shook her head and gave him a mean look before Ms. Rose cleared her throat.
"Please, everybody, get back to your own drawings." she said, looking at the whole class. "Continue, Harry" she told him softly as she put her hand on his back for a second before going to the front of the class.
Eventually, class ended, and as it was his last one, he packed his back and left. Everybody seemed to glare at him and he had no idea why.
He brushed it off carelessly though. His dad taught him not to care what others thought.
He was walking excitedly home to show his dads his drawing. It was time for him to stay with them, last week he was at his mom's.
As he entered the house, his father was cooking in the kitchen.
"Hi Papa" harry said and runned to hug his dad.
Regulus chuckled and hugged him back. "Hey Harry. How was school?" He asked turning the stove off.
"Great. Where's dad?" he asked. He wanted to show them both at the same time his magnificent drawing.
As on cue, James entered the kitchen. "Right here, cub!" he said and crouched as Harry ran and hugged him too.
"I wanna show you something!" Harry spoke excitedly and extended his hands, showing off his drawing. "Its me, you, mom and mama!" he said, and giggled.
Regulus and James smiled. "That looks wonderful, Harry!" Regulus said as James nodded and ruffled his hair.
Harry chuckled proudly. "Could i go over to moms after lunch to show them too?" he asked. Lily and Mary lived just down the street, it was a 10 minute walk. James nodded and smiled "Of course you can, cub!"
After lunch, he kept his promise and went over to the Evans residence to show his moms his drawing. Mary said he was getting even better at it and Lily told him it looked very beautiful.
As Harry was sat on Mary's lap and telling her about his day at school, Lily got a call.
"Yes?" she said as she picked up the phone. It was Ms. Rose asking her and James to present to school tomorrow.
"Did something happen at school today, sweetie?" Lily asked Harry. He looked around thinking before shaking his head.
The next day, Lily, James and Harry were in the teachers office.
"Is something wrong, ma'am?" James asked
Ms. Rose raised her eyebrows and hesitated shortly. "I'm sure you saw Harry's drawing from class, have you not?" she asked. Lily nodded. "We did, why?"
"Well, I'm sure you can understand why i have some concerns!" she said and it clicked for Lily. She chuckled. "Oh, no, it is not what you think, miss. I- James and I are divorced on good terms and we're just co-parenting Harry with our new partners!" she said, nodding as she spoke.
The teacher looked much more relieved. "Oh, i am so sorry then! I just wanted to check that there aren't any issues, my apologies, Miss Evans." she said, Lily assured her that there was no problem whatsoever. As they left the office, Harry looked as confused as ever.
"Mom? Dad?" he asked. Lily bent to his level, with her hands on her knees and James crouched down to look at him.
"I don't understand, what was wrong with my drawing?" he asked in a small tone, looking upset as he looked between his mom and dad.
"There was nothing wrong with your drawing, cub!" James assured him, putting his hand on Harry's shoulder and gave a light squeeze.
Lily nodded. "Yes but, you see, usually kids have only two parents. But me and your dad are not togheter anymore and you have four because we have found new lovers. You'll understand better when you're older, sweetheart" she said and patted his hair. She told him not to worry about it whatsoever.
Little Harry thought it was kinda boring to only have two parents but he didnt word it out loud.
