Momo completes her schedules then heads back to Korea, Back in town, Nayeon and Momo finally decide to talk.
Momo sat on the edge of her bed, scrolling through the group chat until her screen blurred. The tension with Mina had simmered into a dull throb, but what gnawed at her most was the silence from Nayeon. She had half a mind to text first, but pride kept her thumb hovering over the keyboard.
Just as she sighed and tossed her phone onto the nightstand, there was a soft knock at her apartment door.
"It's open," Momo called, half expecting Sana or Mina wanting a round 2. Instead, Nayeon slipped inside, shutting the door behind her.
"Hey," Nayeon started, voice soft. She crossed the room and sank onto the bed next to Momo. "We should talk."
Momo scoffed. "You think?"
Nayeon sighed. "I get why you’re mad. I really do. But Momo, you know Mina likes to be shady sometimes, She loves getting reactions out of people. It doesn’t mean anything."
"It doesn’t mean anything?" Momo repeated, turning to face her. "Nayeon, she made it sound like you two had some romantic sushi date while I’m just... here."
Nayeon shook her head. "It wasn’t a date. We grabbed food because fans and managers keep pushing the “minayeon sushi date” agenda, I didn’t even know Mina was going to keep bringing it up. I should’ve shut it down earlier.”
“What about pretty girl , pretty date?”
“Honestly yes, Mina is a good person to talk to and I find myself relating to her on alot of stuff, not like a sister bond but like a twin, a me in a different font but I genuinely can’t see myself being romantically attracted to her, does that make since? Almost like me and chaeyoung, I can’t see myself dating her but I relate to her in alot of ways and she’s like me in another font”
Momo bit her lip, trying to swallow the knot in her throat. "It’s not just about Mina. It’s... I don’t know. Sometimes it feels like you’re so distant. And then I see you being all close with others and I just... I get in my head."
Nayeon sighs for a second then lays a hand around her shoulder, “I know I can get quiet sometimes but just know it’s nothing against you and I’ll always have you first, random example but in death note ttt even though I wanted to get rid of everyone and beat everyone I never thought of killing you, you mean that much to me and you know how much I love my games, you bring good energy into my life that I’ve never had like this and I feel so at peace around you, like you complete me.” Nayeon said sincerely.
Nayeon reached out, taking Momo’s hand. "And I don’t want you to feel that way. I love you, okay? I don’t want anyone else. Not Mina, not anyone."
Momo squeezed her hand, finally letting out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding. Then looks down and starts smiling hard without realizing it. “I.. uh., But next time, can we just talk about stuff instead of me having to fight someone in a dressing room?"
Nayeon laughed softly. "Deal. And... I’ll talk to Mina. She needs to stop being messy, that’s twin but, hey”
Momo nodded, resting her head on Nayeon’s shoulder. "Thanks."
They sat there in silence, the weight between them lifting, bit by bit. Finally, they were on the same page.
“I see that hickey still hasn’t faded” Nayeon tease
“Stoppp” Momo says playfully hitting her “this isn’t even the worse one you gave me, the one on my abs was much worse then.”
Nayeon starts sounding fake disappointed and pulls momos shirt up “ughhhh I see that one disappeared, I’ll have to give you another one, luckily I’m too tired”
“Wooo! Ain’t tht the truth!!” Momo says sounding excited
“I’m not too tired for one..”
“Bye.”
Momo doesn’t communicate through words, she’s the type of person to understand her deeply you need to understand her signals through her body language, she’s communicates to her best, though sometimes it’s not enough, luckily, Nayeon is. How long can it really be enough though?
