The full moon was in four days and the marauders could tell. Between Remus being in more pain than usual and his attitude it was obvious. It was especially obvious to James who was sitting next to Sirius in the Great Hall when Remus’ snapping brought his attention back to his friend.
“Sorry, my Prada’s at the cleaners along with my hoodie and my fuck you flip flops you pretentious douche bag!” Remus huffed as he turned back to face James and Sirius. “What?” His Welsh accent was thick with annoyance as he raised an eyebrow at the pair.
“What was his issue?” Sirius asked of his boyfriend with a curious look on his face.
“Just another one of the fucking snakes giving me shit for being a half-blood again.” The werewolf explained. He sighed as he finally let himself relax a little before grabbing a sandwich and eating it.
“Do you want us to prank them?” James wondered aloud, his mind already wandering and running a million miles an hour at all the possibilities for different pranks they could pull.
“I’d rather just hex them and be done with it.” Remus huffed, finishing his sandwich before continuing, “They might get the message then.”
“Which one was it?” Sirius asked, concerned for his friend.
“Avery and Mulciber.” Remus groaned, his back and shoulders aching from the pain he knows comes from this time of the month.
“I swear to Merlin himself-” Sirius started to stand but was cut off and sat back down by James placing a firm hand on his shoulder. Sirius took a deep breath before continuing, “Their assholes through and through and deserve everything they’re going to get.”
“That sounded like a threat, brother mine,” Regulus said, walking up beside the group and sitting next to Remus. Sometime in the last year or so he had also run away to the Potter’s and had made up with Sirius. He had also started to get closer to the group and had felt like the fourth marauder they had been missing the entire time, when he joined their little group it was almost like the last piece to a puzzle sliding in and making them whole again.
“I wish it was Reggie. They shouldn’t be able to get away with everything they do.” Sirius shook his head, his curls bouncing around and a few falling in front of his eyes.
“And yet you still shouldn’t blatantly threaten them on school grounds where you know people will be listening.” Regulus rolled his eyes at Sirius and shook his own head.
“Can you two not bicker like a married couple for five fucking minutes?” Remus muttered from where he had laid his head down on the table, pushing his plate out of the way.
“You’ve seen how they are behind closed doors Moony. You know they can’t.” James joked with a chuckle, looking over at Regulus who looked like he was about to hit James over the head with the book in his arms.
Sirius chuckled, also watching his brother with a violent glint in his eye. Regulus rolled said grey eyes and set his book down on the table in front of him while grabbing a sandwich of his own and biting into it. He ate as he flipped through the pages before handing the book over to Sirius. “I trust you can read.” He teased his brother who took the book from his hands and began reading.
“I trust you can read.” Sirius mocked. “Bien sûr que je peux lire, Reg.” (“Of fucking course I can read, Reg.”)
“Bien, je n'étais pas sûr.” (“Good, I wasn’t sure.”) Regulus teases his brother, with a small chuckle, before finishing his sandwich.
“What’s this for?” Sirius asks as James leans over his shoulder and tries to read the page Sirius is looking at.
“Something I took from the family library before I ran off last year.” That explains why the page is all in French.
“What’s it say?” James asks, trying to see if there’s any English on the page, there isn’t of course. Despite speaking three languages he’s at a complete loss for what the book is talking about.
“Nothing important, just something Reggie and I were talking about last month,” Sirius explains.
Remus groans from his almost resting spot on the table. “Is that the thing you were up all night talking about?” Sirius almost choked on the sip of water he was taking before looking down at his boyfriend with wide eyes.
“What?! You knew? I thought we were quiet…” Sirius racks his brain, wondering if they woke Remus up.
“And you forgot that I speak French, mon amour.” James can practically hear the eye roll in Remus’ words. Other than the Black Brothers, Remus probably knew the most languages of anyone James knew.
Remus groaned as the trio continued to talk about him, he eventually stood up, “I’m off to the dorm for a nap, I’m fucking exhausted and in a shit ton of pain.”
“We’ll come with,” Sirius said, gathering his stuff and standing up before looking down at James and Reggie. “Reg? Viens avec nous?” (“Come with us?”)
Regulus nodded and he and James gathered their stuff up before they all headed up to the Gryffindor tower and into their shared dorm.
Remus let his books fall to the floor as he shrugged off his robes and they fell over his books and things. He walked over to the two beds they had transfigured into one and practically fell into it. Regulus followed him in and gathered up his books and robes. He set the books on his nightstand and tossed his robe on the unused bed.
Sirius and James burst through the door at almost the same time, falling over each other with a thud which devolved into them laughing and draping themselves over each other. Regulus rolled his eyes at their antics and laid down next to Remus, carding a hand through his hair.
Sirius and James took a few moments to collect themselves before stripping themselves of their uniforms and throwing on lounge clothing and joining the pair on the bed and curling around them. James pressed up against Remus’ back and Sirius into Regulus’. Regulus fell asleep to the gentle rubbing of Sirius’ hand on his back and Remus followed shortly after to the sound of James humming a lullaby Effie had taught him. James and Sirius also fell asleep, following their boyfriends shortly after.
