Magical heritage

Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, as I continued to grow in this strange world. My world revolved around the love of my family, and I cherished every moment with them. My mother, father, and brother were my constants, providing the warmth and affection that filled my days.

My mother, Celeste, often carried me in her arms as she went about her daily activities. Her soft voice and gentle laughter filled the air, making me feel secure and loved. It was in these moments that I began to understand the meaning of family, and I couldn't have asked for a better one.

As I grew older, I became increasingly aware of the unique aspects of my new life. The vintage style of this world, its rituals and customs, became a part of my daily existence. I couldn't help but notice the beauty in these traditions, the sense of history that infused every moment. My mother taught me about being a veela. I have wings now!

The ritual was a naming ceremony which occurs on the 9th moon cycle after a hatchling has been born. It is done by the people who worship the goddess Elysia. The veela's main religion is Elysian, so when there is a milestone they perform a ceremony to pray to their goddess. So after 9 moon cycles a hatchling gets a naming ceremony where the young women will perform The Celestial Fire Dance. Which is to ask the goddess for blessings on the newly turned nestling. Apparently, you're only a hatchling in the 9 months when the mother and child stay in a ''nest'' together.

My father, Armand, often takes me on walks through the garden, sharing stories of our family's heritage. He spoke of the importance of our bloodline and the responsibilities that came with it. It was during these walks that I began to comprehend the significance of the magical world I had been reborn into. I was born into the house of Fawley, which is seemingly a very important thing. He told me stories about the wizarding world. Who would've thought that Papa is a wizard! I certainly did not. He also told me that I would finally get to meet some other people my age. But my mother has been kind of possessive with me, which apparently is a veela trait that she has passed on to me. Now I finally understand where my annoyance for Meliorn stems from, sorry bro but not really.

My father believed it was important for me to understand and appreciate our family's heritage. My early lessons involved learning about the important houses and that I would represent our house when I grew up. He told me child-appropriate stories, like the tales of Beedle the Bard. He told me about Hogwarts, a school I would go to to gain knowledge of magic and make future contacts. He also told me that when I meet new people I should be careful of prejudice against my creature heritage.

My mother taught me to embrace my veela ancestry and the mystical qualities it brought. While a wand was needed for wizarding magic it was not necessary for veela magic. When transformed into a beaked appearance with wings veela can throw fireballs with their hands. In their human state, they can hypnotise people who are attracted to their gender, so for me, that would be people who are attracted to girls. Mother often held me in her arms, her wings warmly enveloping me. Her sweet songs and stories of Elysia filled the air, calming my restless soul. She taught me the veela rituals and dances, instilling in me a reverence for the goddess who had blessed our flock. I would gaze at her wings, iridescent and mesmerizing, longing for the day when mine would fully grow.

It was all such a novel experience compared to my old mundane life. Every day I learned something new about the magical world I lived in. Even when doing household chores there was magic. Like house elves, those things scared the crap out of me when I saw them for the first time. But learning about all these new things and being reborn with such a great status made me look forward to the future. In my past life, I died too young to accomplish anything significant, this life will be different. I mean a great future is handed to me on a silver platter, how could I not take advantage of this?

It's been a few years since I've been reborn in this world, time flies. I have noticed that my mixed heritage is not the norm in this world at all. From observing my surroundings and listening to other people's conversations I learned that creatures like my mother's side of the family don't normally 'mingle' with wizarding folk. The wizarding world has many creature oppressive laws and there is a clear segregation between wizards and who they deem creatures. In the wizarding government, it is only the people who have known creature heritage who speak up about creature rights. Like the Malfoy who are descendants of veela's or the Black who have changeling heritage. But apparently, there was a war just before I was born. A dark lord had risen they called him he-who-must-not-be-named, silly right? Well because of that war loads of people have passed away, so a lot of ancient lines have died out.

When I was about 4 years old I had my first playdate. My family's house elf Tilly woke me up instead of my mother. Tilly was the person who would take care of me when my parents were busy. I got to wear this pretty silky gown donned with the Fawley house colours, Lavender with Silver. ''Mistress trusted Tilly to make little miss look all pretty, And Tilly is a good elf. Is Missy excited to meet her new friend?''

''Friend? What do you mean Tilly, I don't know anyone besides family?''

The Little elf gasped, eyes wide as saucers. ''Did Misstress not mean to let Missy know?'' The house elf started to murmur panickedly under her breath.

I felt kind of guilty for making the elf panic so much so I reassured her ''No, no I'm sure it's fine Tilly, Mother probably just forgot to tell me''.

After getting ready I met my mum and brother downstairs. ''Good morning mum, good morning Meli.'' So as you can probably tell, I got over my 'I want to be only child phase'. My brother is pretty cool now that he's almost going to Hogwarts. He would sneak into my room after bedtime and tell me all these really cool stories about dragons and their treasures!

''Good morning Darling, today you will be meeting a new girl to make acquaintances.'' My mother said.

A new person? I wonder what family they're from. And why do I finally get to meet someone new? I've been cooped up with Meliorn as my only playmate since I was born, and the occasional glimpse of my parents or brother's friends.

After breakfast Meliorn, Mother and me waited in the foyer to greet the guests. My parents taught me the etiquette of greeting guests or unknown people, so I guess I wasn't going in fully blind but it still would've been nice if they told me a little more about the people we we're gonna meet y'know. I guess I'll find out in a few moments.

After that thought the floo flared up and first a man with lengthy blond hair stepped out, after him a pair of a woman and child followed up, dusting themselves off.

''Greetings Xenophillius, Pandora. And a pleasure to meet you little Luna.'' My mother bowed her head to each one in greeting. She pushed my brother forward. He introduced himself albeit a little awkwardly. After I introduced myself as well we headed towards the parlour.

My Mother sat with Xenophillius and Pandora. Me and my brother were left with the girl called Luna and some toys. There hung an awkward kind of silence in the air and I took this time to observe the girl in front of me. She had pale skin and even paler hair which made her look like a veela but instinctively i was aware she wasn't one of us. She had this dreamy far away expression on her face which made her look a little ditzy. As if she wasn't fully present.

After observing her for a few moments decisivly grabbed her hand and said ''Come, I'll show you all the cool places in the house.''

With widend eyes the little blond girl could only be dragged off to who knows were. Meliorn watched the scene with a deadpanned expression thinking that they really should've taught his sister not to just suddenly grab people, before hurredly going after them knowing he should keep the little chick out of trouble. Also aware of the fact that if anything happened to them he will be at fault for not looking after them properly, such is the burden of the eldest child since the beginning of times.
