Chapter 1
Sirius first met his soulmate when his father lowered him to his baby brother's crib. Regulus was sleeping when his finger touched the place under his eyes, and when he removed it, it was inked by his touch.
Sirius was so overwhelmed with the feeling of marking a soulmate he started crying, and so did Regulus, yet by the time he turned 8, he couldn't recall what had happened, aside from what his father told him.
He doesn't remember the crying, the touch or anything of that sort. There is ink on his pointer fingertip, but that's really it. Regulus' mark is under his eye; it looks like a beauty mark, but you have to get close to it to see the rune; his mother likes the placement. She said it really emphasizes Regulus' beauty.
Sirius thinks Regulus doesn't need that; he's already beautiful enough and needs nothing else to get him more attention. Regulus' attention should be on him and no one else alone.
He hates it when Regulus is speaking to someone because if Regulus has anything to say, then he needs to say it to Sirius; it's not really fair for anything to steal Regulus' attention.
He tried to explain that to his brother but only got a shrug.
"Siri", large dark eyes staring up at him; they look almost alien, with the way they're pitch black like the night sky.
Regulus blinks, and Sirius watches; he watches how his eyelashes kiss his cheek, so long and dark; when Regulus cries, Sirius can only just watch as tears cling to his eyes, falling so slowly, wetting his eyes, making them bigger and redder.
Sirius thinks he likes Regulus' eyes so much because they're where his soulmate mark is placed.
"Yes", Sirius answers, staring, always staring.
Regulus smiles at him. He's clinging to Sirius' hand, and he should always hold, seek, and want to be near him.
"I want to go out", Regulus states, looking out the window to the muggle streets, the kids walking around in their odd customs. It's hallow night, and every year they do the same thing.
"We can't; Mother would be angry", Sirius states, looking out the window and seeing kids laugh.
He wants to; he can go alone, sneak out and come back. He doesn't want to drag Regulus with him; he can't bear Regulus getting hurt, and he wants to rip his ears out when he hears Regulus getting punished. However, he doesn't get them often like him; his reasoning is that Regulus is an omega, but Regulus disagrees and says it's because he's younger.
"But look, I have been watching them." Regular's eyes light up as he looks outside and then back at him; Sirius wonders how they can light up when they are so dark. Sirius has a theory. The theory is small and stupid. It goes ', it's because they are so big, the empty dark space between the stars.'
Regulus's eyebrows frowned. "Are you listening to me?"
Sirius blinks twice, coming out of a trance; Regulus hates when he gets in them; the child omega always complains when Sirius is watching but not listening.
"Yes, I'm listening, Reggie, you- you've been watching them, right ?" Sirius clears his throat, getting more comfortable in the window nook, his feet under him
Regulus smiles widely, sitting up and putting his weight on his palms; he pecks Sirius' lips. Sirius smiles at the small kiss, and their mother allows them to peck each other (only! much to Sirius' disappointment) after a tantrum from both Sirius and Regulus about the fact that they should be allowed to kiss. 'we are soulmates, mummy!' Was Regulus' strongest and only argument
"Yes! Well, I have been watching them, and it seems like children like ourselves—" he points at himself and then at him. "go to people's houses, they knock, and then adults open the door and give them candy!" Regulus explains his hands moving around with his excitement
Oh yes, candy, sweets and desserts are Regulus' number one motivation; his mother seems to have realized that as she can make Regulus do anything by pulling out a sweet,
Sirius wants to crush whatever sweet she pulls out. Nothing should steal Regulus' attention, not even food, nothing, only him.
"Wait, hold on a minute, we just have to knock on people's houses, and they give us candy," Sirius says, a smile growing on his face. Regulus smiles back, nodding Edgerly, "That's brilliant."
"I know; I think we should try it, " Regulus says, carefully getting off the nook and ensuring his feet touch the floor before standing up.
It's stupid; they really shouldn't. Their mother and father would be so mad, so angry. Still, Sirius looks back out the window and sees a group of muggles leaving a house with bags of candy and the desire to do it gets aggressive.
"We have to make sure Mother and Father don't know", Sirius says, getting out of the nook faster than Regulus, standing beside him.
"Umm", Regulus has his thinking face on; it's either the best idea Sirius will ever hear or the worst. "Kreacher!"
Sirius hates, hates, hates Kreacher with so much passion, and he knows Kreacher hates him, too; Kreacher likes Regulus way too much, and Sirius wants to kill him with his bare hands; no one needs to like Regulus that much.
"Master Regulus, master Sirius." Sirius can feel his eye twitch at the disrespect; his name should be spoken first, then Regulus and his focus should be on Sirius, the alpha, not the tiny omega
That little ugly nasty cockroach likes to throw little jabs Sirius' way all the time. Sirius responds in kind, throwing jabs back or simply tossing the elf across the room; he's gotten better at it as he grows up.
He just has to do it when Regulus isn't around.
Just as Sirius is going to shout at Kreacher, Regulus grabs his hand and holds it tightly, silencing the anger that Sirius feels bubbling up.
"Kreacher, I want to go outside", Regulus says, huffing his cheeks and puffing his chest, trying to make himself taller,
Kreacher looks at the omega like he has lost his mind; Regulus lets go of Sirius' hand, returning his eye-twitch syndrome.
"Please", Regulus pleads, leaning down in front of the elf, his hand in a pleading motion.
Sirius can already see the elf breaking; he would know he's also a victim to those eyes. Sirius is sure Regulus can make them go bigger on command. He doesn't have the proof yet, but he will find it.
"Oh! Oh please, Kreacher !" Regulus goes on. The elf doesn't speak but looks sideways before looking at Regulus' eyes. (Big mistake if you're trying to say no to the baby black) "I only want sweets; I will make sure not to interact with the muggles too much."
Kreacher starts fidgeting with his hands rocking side to side; Sirius stays silent, knowing that Regulus can do all the work he does when Sirius speaks too loudly or too much and to the point where he angers their parents, making him go to bed with no meals, only for the meal to appear an hour later, in a smaller portion because Kreacher is again an ugly cockroach that goes around orders Or when Regulus apparates into his room holding the elf hand,
he wants to break the elf's hand for holding his baby brother, but sadly, the elf needs those to apparate his omega into his room; Regulus would appear holding his dragon, big eyes asking him if he can sleep with him knowing too well he isn't allowed, Sirius would just move and pat the empty space in the bed, giving regulus loads of small kisses until the dark eyes give into sleep
"You can follow us, magically hidden, of course", Regulus whispers the last part. "make sure we are safe."
The elf closes his eyes and gives in, just like everybody in this damned house, whenever Regulus wants something.
-
"The hats are a great touch, Siri", Regulus says, walking towards their first house. Sirius won't lie; he's kind of terrified their mother always told them great horrors about muggles. Regulus seems to have forgotten them in the face of sweets and candy, much like everything else in Regulus' mind.
Sirius bitterly thinks Regulus loves sweets more than he loves him, which should be impossible Because Sirius is Regulus' soulmate, and he should love him unconditionally. Honestly, he's not even sure of anything anymore.
"I saw a muggle wearing it; they were painted green though, not sure what's that about." Sirius fixes his hat, walking the steps to the first muggle house they will interact with, clutching Regulus' hand with one hand, the other holding a bag they asked Kreacher for
Looking around, he wonders what is the deal with all the skulls and pumpkins. It's bizarre; there are so many bats and muggles in wizard hats and odd green paintings; others are animal, and some are just unknown to Sirius; it's fun to look at, though
Slowly but bravely, he knocks on the muggle's door, taking a deep breath when a short and chubby middle-aged woman opens the door, smiling brightly at them; she is wearing her hair in pigtails and a blue dress.
Regulus squeezes his hand harder, seemingly frozen; the thing is how much Regulus likes to act like he's brave; he never really was good at confrontation; he likes to sneak behind people's backs and do his bidding, like the time father yelled at Regulus and then choked on his tea the next day, Sirius was the brave one, always standing up facing his fears or their parents.
"Candy now", Sirius demands, not letting go of Regulus' hand. He shoves the bag at the lady.
The lady laughs, putting her hands on her hips and looking down at them. "Oh? No please"
"Please" Regulus whispers, biting his finger
"Well, you're just a proper witch, aren't you?" the lady focuses on Regulus, probably looking at Regulus' eyes and wondering if they are odd or beautiful; Sirius has that thought all the time.
"I'm a wizard! But Thank you," Regulus says after he pulls his fingers out of his mouth and smiles at her.
"Sadly, I can't give you candy until you say the magic words." the lady still smiles brightly. Sirius wonders if her face hurts. He has never seen his mother smile that much, and she looks around the same age. Sirius can't tell what her secondary gender is since his nose hasn't yet developed, but he can bet she's an omega from the air around her.
"Magic words?" Regulus wonders loudly, his eyes shining. Sirius looks at him, then back at the lady.
"Yes, of course. Have you two never been trick-treating before?" The lady's smile falls a little
"No", Sirius says. He's unsure what that is, but they haven't done that before, and he doesn't like lying.
"Oh- why not ?" The lady looks sad a little, which confuses him
"Our mummy and daddy won't let us", Regulus starts; Sirius looks at him and realizes he's using his sad puppy eyes at this unsuspecting muggle omega? Woman
Dear god. Somebody needs to stop that boy and his eyes.
"Our mummy and daddy won't let us; they say no every time." Regulus brings a hand to his face and rubs his invisible fake tears, "They say, 'Oh no, you and your brother will stay home', which I don't want to; I want to go trickle and threatening—"
"—Threatening?" The woman whispers to herself
"So we did it this year! We managed to convince them—"
If Sirius hates lying, then Regulus loves it. He sleeps and eats lies; their m mother approves but not when directed at her, which is confusing. Regulus is going to lie to everybody if she encourages him.
Regulus can't seem able to lie to him, though, no matter how much he tries. One glare at the omega, and he's spilling his beans and life story.
"—but they didn't tell us anything about it; they just let us out; it's so sad; I wish they would come along with us, but I don't mind. I have Siri with me—" Regulus brings up their intertwined hands to show her.
"— and he will protect me because he's my older brother and my soulmate, so please, candy, please."
The monologue ends, and the lady seems speechless, which Sirius can relate to; he doesn't know when Regulus had time to come up with all this backstory.
"Oh- oh, you poor things", the lady kneels down to them, bringing them in for a hug, which freaks Sirius out. A muggle is touching them. He's supposed to be burning by now, but it seems nothing is happening; he looks to his left and sees Regulus smirking his way. Sirius smirks back.
Sirius quickly wipes the smirk away when The lady pulls away. He's not a fan of the pathetic act, so he stays silent.
"Here you two go." She grabs a basket full of candy, muggles candy, and drops loads inside their bags.
"Thank you, ma'am", Regulus smiles, his eye glistening as he watches the candy.
"Only one bag? You boys need two! One for each, hold on, Richard!"
"Yes", a man's voice echoes through the house.
"Bring me that pumpkin basket, the extra one you got from Mum."
-
They leave the muggle lady's house with an extra basket and so much candy, and they say goodbye to their mates. Apparently, they have been mated for 10 years, and he was right. She's an omega.
Regulus hums next to him, one hand still holding his and the other with his new Pumpkin basket; he smiles up at Sirius.
"Oh, that went wonderfully, didn't it, Siri?" Regulus smiles contentedly
"I can't believe you made all that up," Sirius says, disbelief written all over his face.
"Did you see that! She touched us, and we didn't burn or wither away or die." Regulus seems to be recalling everything that their father told them would happen if they left the house and got touched by a muggle
"Yes, I saw." Sirius nods, walking towards another house; the sun is setting, and the wind blows through Regulus' curls. Sirius watches, ignoring the children walking around in weird costumes.
"Why do you reckon all these people are dressed up? I watch muggles every day, and they don't dress like this" " Regulus wonders, watching a boy dressed like a bat.
He shouldn't be watching Muggles every day. Their mother would have an aneurysm, but he doesn't say that.
"I'm not sure. Do you think it's because of this trickle and threaten?" Sirius hums, tilting his head
-
"We got so much candy!" Regulus screams. The basket and bag are too heavy now, and after hours of walking, they decide to sit down on the pavement; the sun is gone, making the October air colder. Sirius watches Regulus shiver and brings him to his chest to warm him up; he feels a sudden warming sensation flush through them and remembers Kreacher's presence, warming Regulus at the slight discomfort.
Sirius swallows the urge to scream, focusing on Regulus instead; the omega pulls out a bar of chocolate from his basket.
"Kit-kat", Regulus slowly pronounces; at 7 years old, he can read very slowly. He says he can read faster with his mind than saying the words aloud; Sirius doesn't get it, but he nods anyway.
"What is this fascinating with pumpkins?" Sirius mumbles to himself, looking behind him at the house that has a bunch of pumpkins outside carved out in an evil smile that reminds him of Mother when she manages to throw a jab at his aunt without her noticing
"Don't know" " Regulus whispers, cracking the chocolate from the middle. It comes out in two perfect pieces.
"Why did you do that?" Sirius asks him; he wouldn't have cracked them. He would have just taken a bite.
"Felt right", Regulus shrugs, giving a piece to Sirius; Sirius smiles at Regulus, taking it from his hands.
"At the same time," Sirius says, Regulus nods quickly.
"Wow"
"Yummy!! This is the best day ever," Regulus screams, standing up and throwing his hands up.
Sirius laughs
-
“Don’t want you to leave”, Regulus whispers into the dead of night, sneaking into his bed after their bedtime.
“You will come to join me next year”, Sirius explains, running his hand through his brother's hair; the curls are alive and beautiful in a very sensible and good-mannered way with a bit of chaos thrown in, just like Regulus.
Regulus blinks up at him, his alien eyes staring directly into his soul; they have gotten bigger over the years. They are more magmatic now they pull Sirius in. Sometimes, he feels like he’s losing his mind looking at them.
“What will I do for” Regulus swallows before whispering “, Halloween?”
Yes, Halloween. After the first one, it became a tradition; they realised that their parents always leave on that day, so they started sneaking out every year.
Regulus begs Kreacher to keep their secret, giving the elf a lollipop each year as a thank you. Sirius refuses to eat any lollipops from that day forward,
The lady, Suzan, and her mate, Richard, always greet them. Suzan always has an extra basket for Regulus since they have to throw it out before their parents come home and find it; she’s nice and beautiful even though she’s a muggle. Sirius realised their parents were liars.
“You can go alone”, Sirius suggests, even though it feels like poison in his mouth.
“No.” Regulus shakes his head lightly and closes his eyes, a tear slipping down
“Don’t cry”, Sirius says desperately. He sits up a little, pressing a kiss to Regulus' cheek; he accidentally touches the soul mark; his body feels like it’s on fire and without thinking, Sirius pushes his tongue on it, licking it before sucking it.
He hears Regulus let out a gasp before the omega melts into the bed, it feels odd sucking on his brother's cheek, but the sensation doesn’t go away; it intensifies.
He doesn’t realise that Regulus took hold of his hand until he feels his brother sucking on his inked fingertip; a groan escapes him, a euphoric feeling rushes through him, and he feels millions of emotions coursing through him; Sirius drops himself on top of regulus, slowly he starts moving his hips not sure what he’s doing but loving the feeling.
Sirius leans down and removes his mouth from the mark to peck Regulus, who responds immediately with more kisses; they move together, gasps leaving their mouths until they both explode.
“Oh”, Regulus whispers. Sirius wonders if Regulus thought he wet himself; he certainly thought he did the first time around.
“I love you”, Sirius says, stopping his movement and looking down at his soulmate, omega, and brother.
Regulus smiles brightly at him. “I love you too.”
“Don’t worry, Reggie, I will be thinking of you on Halloween. I will always think of you, always. ” Sirius promises the galaxy inside of Regulus’ eyes.
The galaxy blinks back at him as if asking him to show instead of tell.
-
The first time Sirius met his second soulmate, he thought the sun became a person, that it started walking among humans, and nobody seemed to notice. Well, they did, but not in the way Sirius notices, and oh, does he notice
“I’m James”, the sun says, smiling brightly at Sirius; it’s so warm, it’s so warm and bright and alive, and it has dimples and a blinding smile. It’s golden, and it’s honey, it’s brown, it’s dark, and it’s everything. It completed him so thoroughly he thinks he will die.
“Sirius” cleans his throat, his mind trying to catch up. “Sirius Black”
James reaches out to shake his hand, but Sirius backs away; he knows this feeling: this is his soulmate, his second soulmate; he just said goodbye to his first one.
He wants to shake James' hand, but that’s where Regulus' mark is, and he doesn’t want them to mix; Regulus won’t like that.
Instead, he reaches out with his inkless hand and touches the golden boy's neck; he feels it, the feeling he had felt yesterday with Regulus, the euphoria, the electricity.
He watches James, his body slacking as their souls combine.
“W-What?” James whimpers, reaching out to hold onto Sirius’ shoulder; Sirius fails to stabilise James, and James crashes into him, his weight bringing them both down
“ Merlin”, James whispers against Sirius's neck, his breathing coming out harsh and heavy.
“You’re okay”, Sirius whispers, running a hand through the alpha’s hair just like he would to Regulus. Sirius can tell he’s an alpha; he can smell the honey and a heavy undertone of alpha.
“I am?” James laughs before burying his face into Sirius’ neck, brushing his lips against them
“Yes”, Sirius breathes out; he wants Regulus here; he wants him here because Sirius knows if he was here, the three of them would feel complete. They would be evermore.
“ I found you”, James hums, bringing his face close to Sirius.
Sirius does what he has always done and pecks James' lips; James gasps before smiling brightly, blinding him.
“That was my first kiss.”
-
“We have another soulmate.”
“What the fuck do you mean we have another soulmate” James hisses; Remus was such a bad influence.
“Our other soulmate is my brother Regulus”, Sirius's voice hitches; he watches James' mouth drop. “Mother isn’t letting me send him; I keep sending them, but I don’t get a reply back.”
“Wait, your soulmate is your brother.”
“Yes, keep up, fuck, shit”, unclothed and would send his mother to her deathbed.
“I have two soulmates !? I need to send my mum an updated letter. Why didn't you tell me?” he’s already picking up a paper.
“Regulus is mine.”
“He’s mine too.”
“See, this is why I didn’t tell you.”
“Huh? That doesn’t make sense. He’s my soulmate, too.”
“I don’t share Regulus.”
“Well, you will have to now.”
“I really don’t “
“Yes, you do.”
“Shut up! He’s mine.” Sirius is losing his mind; he’s losing it because he can’t talk to Regulus, and now he has to share him. This is the longest Sirius has had to go without hearing a word from his brother, and it’s killing him.
“Sirius”, James stands up, holding Sirius's shoulders; Sirius looks at the honey stuck in James' eyes. “It will be alright.”
“Why did I come to Gryffindor?”
“Didn’t you say the hat laughed at you for 3 minutes, then shouted Gryffindor?”
“Yes, but I should have said something.”
“I’m happy you’re with me”, ‘James whispers.
Sirius looks at James and melts, hugging him. “I’m happy I’m here too, but— but my baby.”
“Our baby”
“James”
“What, it’s true!”
“You don’t even know him.”
“Nope, I do; he’s my soulmate and his name is Regulus.”
“Still”
“Can he be mine too?”
“I will think about it.”
“Please do, soulmate.” James laughs, and his warmth covers Sirius in ways he can’t describe, and he loves, oh, how he loves and misses
-
“Halloween is a wizard holiday”, Sirius shouts at Remus, James and Peter, who are all looking at Sirius like he’s crazy.
“Well, not technically,” Remus says, cracking his neck.
“What do you mean not technically?” Sirius demands, looking at Remus
“It’s a muggle holiday, but wizards adopted it, mostly Hogwarts. A lot of magical people don’t approve.”
“Pureblood”, Peter adds.
“And some do.”
“Blood traitors like me.” James smiles at Sirius.
“Don’t say that.” Sirius shakes his head at James; today is Halloween, and as he walks through the hall, only Regulus is on his mind. He can’t stop thinking about his boy, the galaxy waiting for him in that dark, cold house.
“Sorry, love”, James says, tipping his invisible hat, “but that’s what I am.”
“do you think my mother will allow my letter to reach Regulus?” Sirius says, worry bleeding through his speech
James winces. Sirius can tell he recalls the howler he got and the late-night confession about his mother sending him a letter informing him not to contact Regulus and that she will be throwing all his letters to the fire as a punishment.
“Maybe”
“Great.”
That Halloween wasn’t so great. He closes his eyes, and all he can see are galaxies and the October wind running through black curls.
-
Sirius wasn’t allowed to come home for the remaining year; he missed Regulus terribly, the omega sinking into his bones daily. James was beside him, distracting him with pranks and silly things.
Many of those days were filled with happiness, kisses, worries and sunshine, red covering him from top to bottom, scars on Remus he became so familiar with, James' smile burning his iris. Peter’s laugh rang in his ear. It’s insane, and he loves it so much.
“Sirius”, James laughs, his voice covered in sleep.
“Umm,” Sirius groans into James’ pillow.
“You slept in my bed again.”
“I’m your soulmate. Get over it.”
He feels James' lips on his ears.
They don’t touch each other’s marks because the feeling is too overwhelming, and they are too young. At least, that’s what James’ mother told his alpha in a letter.
He doesn’t get it; he always does it with Regulus, which always feels fantastic. He wants to do it with James, but no matter how much of a prankster James says he is, he always listens to his mother.
-
“Siri”, Regulus says calmly, walking up to him. Sirius holds his breath, looking at his brother; his eyes are too calm. Sirius can’t believe he’s holding it together. He wants to drop to his knees and beg Regulus.
“Regulus”, Sirius says in a raspy voice; he feels a hand reach him and looks down to find Regulus pale, pale hand holding his tanned ones’ he can’t remember when he got darker.
Regulus holds his hand so tightly Sirius would whine about it if it didn’t give him relief if it didn’t settle something in him.
“Hi”, he hears James behind him; he looks at James, who is grinning down at Regulus.
He watches Regulus, who turns to James and slowly blinks at him. Sirius wonders if he’s thinking of the sun; he glances at James and sees him with his eyes wide open.
“Oh wow”, James whispers. He tries to reach for Regulus, but Sirius grabs his hand, turning it away.
“After summer”, Sirius hisses; his parents are looking at them from afar; the children are mostly gone; he looks behind James and sees a couple who are most definitely James’ parents; the lady has a bright smile just like James’, and the man looks like James.
James’ mom notices and waves at him; he nods quickly before turning back to his soulmates; he grabs Regulus’ hand, reaching for James and quickly pulls him away.
“Bye, James”, Sirius says in a hurry before speed-walking while pulling Regulus along with him.
“Bye!” James shouts. It sounds sad but hopeful, and that’s all Sirius can ask for; Sirius grimaces when he sees the look on his parent’s faces up close.
-
“If Regulus wasn’t your soulmate, I would have thought you’re a lost cause. The only young alpha of the noble house of black in Gryffindor for shame”, Walburga says for the final time before slamming the door to his room.
Sirius sits down on the bed and winces at the pain in his muscles; he never thought his parents would hurt him this badly; it made him feel disgusting and worthless.
Sirius shoves the urge to cry down, getting under the bed and letting his tiredness take over,
He’s woken up by extra weight on his bed; he opens his eyes slowly and greets his galaxy; in pain, he sits up and hisses, aching all around.
“Hi”, Sirius gasps, looking at Regulus properly; he didn’t get the chance to talk to him after they went to their parents; they sent Regulus to his room immediately upon entrance.
Regulus looks at Sirius before nuzzling him, Regulus’ cheek on his neck; he wraps his arm around him and pulls him close to his chest.
“Missed you” Regulus whispers
“I missed you too,” Sirius says on top of the dark curly hair.
“You didn’t write” " Regulus hisses before biting down on Sirius’ neck; Sirius lets him even though he can’t really handle more pain.
“I did; Mother said my punishment for being in Gryffindor is not talking to you for a year”, Sirius grits out. Regulus lets go at that confession, his teeth releasing his neck; he looks at Sirius before sighing.
“Here”, Regulus pills out a small greenish potion “, pain relief”
Sirius wants to ask him how he got it, probably from the elf, or he asked his mother for one and hid it until he needed it when Sirius wasn’t allowed any.
“Thank you” Sirius takes it and quickly chugs it down, pain disappearing a little; he takes a deep breath “fuck, that already feels better.”
Regulus clicks his tongue. “don’t speak like that; mummy won’t be happy.”
“She’s never happy about anything.”
Regulus hums, and he pulls out a sandwich from his pocket. Sirius wonders what other mysteries are hidden inside the little pocket.
“Eat!” Regulus demands. Sirius smiles and takes the sandwich; he wonders if Regulus' urge to feed him and make sure he’s okay is because he’s an omega or if he’s just a caring person.
“So”, Regulus says after a while, letting him eat in peace, “who was that in the train station?”
“James”
“Well, I know that I heard you say his name.”
“Um”
“Sirius”
“Alright, sorry.” Sirius finished the sandwich and wiped his hands on the bed sheet, ignoring the disgusted look on Regulus’ face. “James, he’s our… other soulmate.”
“We have another one.”
“Yes”
“And he’s a blood traitor”, the opposite reaction to when he had to inform James.
“Don’t call him that.”
“That’s what mummy would say” Regulus hisses.
“Yeah, well, mother is crazy, and so is father. Did you not hear what they did to me?”
Regulus glances at Sirius and nods. “they were furious.”
“I can tell.”
“But they love us.”
“Do they? They wouldn’t let me talk to you for a year?” Sirius says. He knows there is a crazy look in his eyes; that’s what James tells him whenever he mentions Regulus.
“Siri”, Regulus whimpers, shaking his head. Sirius can see the little fight that was in Regulus’s body leave him; the small omega comes closer until he’s pressed on his chest, “Don’t want to fight.”
Sirius sighs before pulling Regulus closer; Regulus automatically grabs Sirius's hand, reaching for his soul mark.
“Wait,” Sirius says, pulling his hand away from Regulus “we shouldn’t.”
“Why not?” regulus pouts
“James' mum said that it’s for adults and that most people don’t meet their soulmates that young, so we should wait until we’re older.”
Regulus scoffs, his eyes sharpening. “Well, James’ mum isn’t here, is she” he pushes Sirius on his back and puts his marked finger in his mouth, sucking at it like a starved child.
Sirius lets out a gasp arching his back; he feels like he’s rushing out of the water, breathing fully after so long; he quickly pulls Regulus down to suck on the mole under his eyes, and they both moan softly at the sensation.
He gasps when he feels Regulus moving his hips, trying to get friction; after a few seconds, they both let go, and Regulus puts his head on Sirius’ neck, breathing heavily, both of their chest rising and falling at the same time.
“What is that?” Regulus pants
“It’s like an orgasm.”
“An orgasm?” Regulus lifts his head to look at Sirius; his cheeks and lips are red, curls falling to his face
“Yeah, I heard the alphas in the dorms talking about it”, Sirius says with a sheepish smile.
Regulus' nose scrunches before dropping on the left side of the bed; he pulls the omega closer to him. “it feels good; it makes me sleepy.”
“Sleep then,” Sirius says, putting his nose on Regulus’ nose.
“Do you like James” Regulus whispers; he’s not looking at him, regulus is avoiding his stare, and it pisses Sirius off.
He grabs the omega’s chin and makes Regulus face him; Regulus frowns and swallows.
“Don’t look away from me”, Sirius demands; Regulus nods quickly.
“Sorry”
“Just don’t do it again; what did you feel when you saw James?” Sirius whispers, pulling the thin summer blanket over them
“Bright” Regulus says with finality.
“He is, isn’t he?” Sirius laughs
“Like you”, Regulus says, looking at Sirius.
“I’m bright?” Sirius eyes widen at that; he never considered what he might be to soulmates
“Like your star.”
-
“What?! There is Halloween in Hogwarts.” Regulus jumps up and down, excitement written all over his face.
Sirius brought it up when Regulus came in with his share of Halloween candy; he went alone this year and said it made him happy since he was so lonely but didn’t go to many houses like they usually did because it was sad and upsetting to be without Sirius. Apparently, Suzan went trick-or-treating with him after he told her that Sirius wasn’t around.
Sirius thinks it’s nice of her to make sure Regulus is safe while collecting candy; he wants to give her a gift for that. He usually would be jealous, but at this point, after listening to how lonely Regulus had been, he finds that he’s happy someone was there for him other than that ugly elf, even if it’s a 40-year-old omega.
“ I can’t wait when we’re together, Siri” " Regulus says, swirling; he stops suddenly. “do you think we will be different?”
“What do you mean”
“I mean, it’s always been us, you and I, and now James is in, and I don’t know, I don’t want us to change.”
“Us sneaking out to go trick and treating was different, but it was a good difference, so maybe this is it”, Sirius shrugs, acting like sharing Regulus wouldn’t be hard.
But James is so good that he knows he doesn’t have to worry.
“Yeah, it was a big difference; even this year on Halloween, it was hard being without you, but Susan made me Pumpkin soup, and it was good, so it wasn’t as good as it can be, but not the worse.”
“James is amazing, he’s silly, and he likes pranks. You will love him”, Sirius smiles enthusiastically.
Regulus pokes his tongue out. “he sounds just like you.”
“Hey! You love me.”
“Do I ?”
“Run”
-
“I don’t know how you will be able to care for him. You won’t even be in the same house”, his mother scoffs, fixing up Regulus’ hair.
There are few students around; they came early because their father had to travel in the morning, and his mother doesn’t like mixing in with muggle-borns, muggles, half-bloods, basically anyone that’s not exactly like her.
“He can get sorted in the same house.”
“Absolutely not”, his mother hisses, cupping Regulus’ cheek. “my angel will never disappoint me like that.”
Sirius scoffs; his mother would throw roses Regulus’ way when he does the most basic things. It excepted for him to know three languages by the time he was 7, but it’s a miracle that Regulus knows 3 three by the time he was 11
Sirius does everything he can to get a ‘good job’ from their mother, and she never gives it to him; their father barely pays attention to them, but he always shows up to stand quietly by his mother, never saying anything.
“Sirius”, his father grabs his shoulder tightly, letting him know a speech is coming. “Regulus won’t be in Gryffindor. We all know he’s too slippery for that.”
Okay, that’s true, but an alpha can dream.
“—so try to make sure he’s doing well no matter what ”, his father finishes, so it wasn’t a speech but a statement.
“I will, father”
“Don’t disappoint me again”, Orion adds.
Sirius grits his teeth. He got full marks, and they don’t care; they only point to the terrible things, and he’s tired of it.
-
Sirius locks the carriage door after James gets in; he doesn’t need other people to witness what’s about to happen. Regulus is vicious when it comes to soulmates and marking and kissing.
And Sirius is pretty sure he will break James’ ‘mum said no’ argument.
“Hi”, James whispers, looking down at Regulus; for the first time, Sirius notices how tall James is and how tall he has gotten over the summer, probably Regulus too. Still, he always feels like he’s looking down at his brother.
regulus hums, looking at James and analyzing him
“I'm James” James smiles
“Regulus”
“I know, you’re my soulmate” James smiles.
Regulus looks at him, then at Sirius; Sirius smiles softly at the omega, trying to tell him it’s fine; he’s pretty sure it’s a little tight.
“Can I touch you?” James asks, excitement written all over his face
“Wait!” Sirius jumps. “This is very important.”
“It is?” Regulus questions, his head tilted to the side
“Yes, James, do you want your placement like mine on your fingertips?”
“I don’t know—“
“I like fingertips. It’s easy to kiss them.” Regulus nods to himself.
“I want them on my fingertips”, James says, nodding solemnly.
Sirius laughs at the couple. “okay, alright, we have to pick a place.”
“Here”, " Regulus points at the space beneath his lips. “I have thought ever hard about this.”
“Reggie!”
“Alright!”
James touches it, and they fall into each other. They pull Sirius with them, and they laugh at the same euphoric energy rushing through them; for the first time, Sirius feels completely whole. James and he kiss the marks on Regulus' face
He felt whole as James and Regulus kissed his hands; he felt whole as he kissed James' hand, and he knew all that worry and jealousy for Regulus was nothing. He doesn’t need anything except for them together with him.
-
“You are extremely creepy,” Remus says to Regulus, who blinks at him.
“You're really, really tall.” Regulus smiles, his eyes wide, making Remus feel even more uncomfortable.
-
“Look, Siri! The pumpkins” Regulus holds Sirius's hand tightly, jerking him towards where the pumpkins are
“I see them Reggie” Sirius laughs.
“I’m taking one to my room.” Regulus kneels down, looking at the pumpkins, trying to pick between the moving cat or the moving evil smile that gets bigger and bigger.
Sirius is pretty sure they are not allowed, but that makes him want to steal them even more.
“Wait, let’s tell James so he can help us steal them.”
“I don’t want to wait” " Regulus pouts.
“If we wait until everybody is asleep, then we can have them all.”
“That’s a fire hazard.”
“I’m pretty sure Remus knows water charms.”
Regulus shrugs. “I wish we could go trick and treating; I miss Suzan.”
Sirius tries not to feel jealous of Regulus' attachment to Miss Suzan. It’s really not that big of a deal; she’s an omega with a mate, and she’s super friendly.
It’s fine, Sirius, it’s fine, he told himself; he would just have to talk to James about it and let his alpha calm him down from whatever spiral he was going to jump into.
-
“And you, Mr. Black!” Professor McGonagall points at Regulus, “I would have never thought you would do something like that; I thought you had more sense.”
“It’s only pumpkins!” Regulus tried to defend himself
“Yes, professor, it’s not really that big of a deal”, James adds a charming smile on his face; he earns nods of agreement from Remus and Peter.
“You covered Mr.Black’ dorm room in pumpkins.”
“He wanted it.”
“How did you get in the Slytherins dormitory?” Professor Slughorn says, frowning
“Regulus let us in”, Remus says in a voice that suggests he thinks Slughorn is foolish.
“How come every Slytherin gets a singular room while we have to share? That’s not fair!” Sirius screeches, not forgetting the injustice
“That’s not the current topic! Detention for all of you for sneaking 100 flammable pumpkins into the first-year dormitory!”
“Do I not get detention?” Regulus says, smiling already at the fact that he’s a slippery snake
Professor McGonagall touches her temples, trying to ease the headache Sirius knows she developing. “First offence, Mr.Black. I won’t be so kind next time.”
It’s always like that with Regulus, isn’t it
Sirius just sighs

For the next couple of years, Sirius got to know his soulmate and alpha. He learned about his home life and what he liked and disliked, and his relationship with his omega became more profound and intense.
He became a beater, James became a chaser, and Regulus became a seeker. They really would be an impossible team if they were in the same house, but sadly, Reggie is a slippery snake.
Regulus grew taller and fuller by the years; many people turned to look at him, to look at his eyes and the way his hair curled around his very biteable neck; he had to take breathing lessons with the residential werewolf so he wouldn't curse people Willy nilly
He and James grew tall and large; their muscles grew in a way Sirius never thought he would be able to, but he was a beater, so he guessed there was no escaping that,
James and he experimented a lot; Sirius learned the way James likes his cock to be sucked and vice versa. They both wanted to touch Regulus in a way that made the omega melt. It was always so fun, watching the smirk melt off into a small O That huffs out tiny breaths, dark eyes half closed, heavy with lust. They didn't have sex yet, but really, it's just about timing. They get off well enough now.
He also learnt about Remus' furry issue. James and he clapped Remus on the back and told him it was alright, it was okay, it's excellent. At the same time, Regulus kept staring at the scarred alpha with open fascination that made Remus very uncomfortable.
He also learns that Lily is Remus' soulmate, but the lanky alpha doesn't think he's worth Lily and that he's too dark, which upsets Regulus, who is dark. He caught the small omega threatening a tall Remus on the daily, talking about 'going for his fire.'
Whatever that means, because Sirius would rather die than allow that to happen, he would literally start another war, the one that's brewing wholly ignored.
They learned how to become animals for Remus to join him and make it easier for their friend. Regulus became an animagus too (he's a very proud owner of a fluffy black cat), but he never allowed Regulus to come to the full moons with them, no matter how much the omega whined, huffed and puffed m
James sides with him in the argument and does the very responsible thing of pinching the gland in Regulus' neck to shut him up whenever he tries to bring up the idea of coming along with them.
Remus was happy about that, nodding along with the alphas and pointing his finger at the omega.
Peter was funny and popular with beta girls; he didn't get it. It could be a beta thing, but it was fun to witness; Sirius isn't close to the beta, unlike James, and he's absolutely fine with that.
Sirius might have fallen in love with James all over again when he saw the stag, but that's a secret that he keeps to himself. The cat he carries around is really nobody's business. A hex or two is enough to shut up anyone laughing at him when he kisses his cat on its fluffy head, ignoring the hisses coming out of the said cat.
Regulus' scent came alive when he turned 14. Sirius and James laughed when they smelt pumpkin and cinnamon coming off the omega before they shoved their noses in his neck, inhaling the scent deep into their lungs, prompting Professor McGonagle to yell at them for a good hour
Walburga and Orion don't know about James, and Sirius tells Regulus to keep it that way, who nods with understanding. His eyes are saddened, but Sirius kisses the sadness away.
He loves James, but his parents are a nightmare, barely allowing him to visit his alpha during the summer, claiming 'blood traitor' and 'brainwasher' every second of the day.
Regulus couldn't even come along since that would raise too many questions about why the omega would want to visit someone from a different house and year from him.
He tries to make Halloween memorable for Regulus, like when they were little; James collected candy throughout the year before giving it to the omega as a Halloween present; Sirius would give him costumes that he paid a Hufflepuff to make. Hufflepuffs are the best because they don't ask questions; they nod and take the money.
It was a fantastic couple of years, and Sirius wants to improve the upcoming ones.
