He woke up to the smell of maple pancakes. And it seemed Hermione was making some tea as well, or coffee, for he could hear the kettle boiling.
Severus turned and to his horror, he noticed Hermione was still in bed next to him.
"Hermione!" he shouted.
"What?"
"Someone's making pancakes in our kitchen." He sniffed the air. "And I think they're burning them."
For a moment, she was confused. But then, they heard a child's laughter. In a flash they both got up.
"I think our kids are trying to cook for us," she said, amusement in her eyes.
"It seems they're planning to burn the kitchen. That kettle has been boiling for five minutes now."
"Right. I'll go and see what the fuss is. You stay here and pretend asleep."
Severus would have protested, but somehow she had already reached the door. He nodded and relaxed. Maybe a lay in would be nice.
