Peverell
I make my way to the class I'm to teach from now on, pushing my hair out of my face. Wearing black pants, with a green silk top, cut lower than the average V-neck, the sleeves cover my hands, aiding in keeping me warm. When I get to the room number, I walk into the classroom full of Vampires, smiling.
There are a few gasps, murmurs about my looks, some confused on how I look like a vampire, but my heart is obviously beating. "Hello! I'm going to be your teacher for the foreseeable future." I turn to begin writing my name on the board. "For this class, I'm going to allow one person each day to pick the topic they want to learn." A few chatters in excitement. "Obviously, this will start tomorrow as I need someone to pick something today." I move from the board to my desk, not noticing the quiet classroom, shock present as they read my name. I grab the paper with their names, looking it over. "I need to put faces to names, please." I look up with a smile.
They nod, weirdly quiet and I brush it off, going through the list. I'm thankfully able to conceal my shock when I get to Kaname Kuran, deciding to think on that later. When I'm finished, I lean back on my desk. "Alright. I want everyone to write down what their struggling with. History, English, writing, math. You can elaborate if you'd like." I smile gently. "This will be for my eyes only, so need to worry about your classmates finding out." A few flush and I chuckle, nodding. "Go ahead."
They begin writing and I look out the window, crossing my arms. I begin walking around, accepting the papers that are handed to me, before pausing in front of a boy, who clearly wants to ask something. "Yes?" I ask.
He clears his throat. "You're not a vampire...?" He asks? Or maybe states.
I chuckle, shaking my head. "I am not."
His eyes widen and I grin, ruffling his hair before moving on.
When I've gotten all the papers, I hum, nodding and placing them down. "Alright, that's all I've got for today." I laugh alongside them. "Any questions? If not, go ahead and do whatever with the rest of class. We'll begin learning tomorrow, those that want to choose what we learn tomorrow, raise your hands." I look around the room, before nodding.
When I sit, a few hands are still raised, and I raise an eyebrow before remembering I asked if they had any questions. "Oh!" I chuckle sheepishly. "Yes?" I ask a girl...Ruka.
"What hair products do you use?" She asks.
She gets a few looks and I grin, listing them for her. "Wait!" She shouts, grabbing a pen. I can't help my laugh, waiting for her before listing them. I spot a few others as well and shake my head in fond exasperation.
"Yes?" I ask the next person...Senri.
"What's your favorite snack?" He asks quietly.
I hum, resting my cheek in my hand. "I enjoy baking, so any sort of pastry is a yes in my books."
"You like cooking?" Another boy asks.
I smile, waving my hand back in for in a so-so motion. "I can cook, sure. But I don't enjoy it like I do baking."
He nods in understanding, another boy raising his hand...Takuma.
I nod to him, smiling gently as he's wringing his hands a bit nervously. He clears his throat before speaking. "I've heard the name Hadiran Peverell..." He trails off, a few perking up at his question. "Are you the same one?" He finishes a bit hesitant.
I nod, hearing a few gasps. I look around at them chuckling. "The very same." I see a girl turn a bit pale and worry. "Hey, I'm nothing special. Nothing scary here. I'm just a bit unforgettable... think it's the hair?" I grin, and she calms, nodding with a small shy smile. "That's what I thought." I sigh before seeing the time. "Alright, class is almost..." I reach out to the paper's where I've written random students names on them, grabbing one. "Hanabusa." The boy in question cheers. "Alright, the choice is yours. Write down what you want to learn tomorrow so I don't forget, and I'll teach it."
He begins writing and I dismiss the class. He drops his note off on my desk as he passes, and I read it, thinking over what I know from the second great war. I'd rather not have a boring class.
I sense someone standing in front of me and look up to Kaname. Smiling, I tilt my head. "Kaname?" I ask.
He gives a pleasant smile back. "You did well." He says gently.
My eyes widen, before I'm covering my face groaning. "Was I that obvious?" I ask with embarrassment.
He chuckles. "Not to anyone else, no."
I look back up to him, smiling in relief. "Thank Merlin. It's been so long since I've taught, and I just found out yesterday." I gather the papers before standing, planning on going through them all tonight and coming up with a plan for each student.
"Oh? As a favor to Cross?" Kaname asks.
I nod, still shuffling papers. "Yeah. I'd just gotten back yesterday, and he needed help." I shrug. "It's no problem, just made for a terrible class today." I chuckle, holding the papers against my chest and moving. Kaname follows and I hold the door open for him, but he motions me to go first.
"Well, I look forward to tomorrow then." He comments.
I nod, smiling up at him. "Goodnight." I smile to the little group that waited for him, fondness filling me when they smile back, obviously comfortable with me. I make my way out, a few paces in front of the group. Walking through the pathway outside, I move to make my way home before I'm cut off.
I grunt when a body cuts me off, strangling me in a hug with way too much strength. "Air." I gasp when Teddy lets a little pressure off, stepping back sheepishly.
"Sorry." He flushes.
I chuckle, grabbing his hand and pulling him into my side as we begin walking. "How was your day?" I ask. "Did you make friends?" I ask hopefully.
"I already have friends." He grumbles.
I sigh. "There's nothing wrong with making more. But okay, I won't push." I feel him sag and chuckle. "Did you enjoy the classes?" I ask hopefully.
He looks down to me with exasperation. "I learned about the fall of Britian." He says dryly.
I choke, before laughing. The fall of Britian is what the wizards dying was masked as. We get to the path near my home, and I turn to him. "Staying?" I ask.
He shakes his head. "I'm a watcher now. No can go." He grins, wiggling his eyebrows.
I chuckle, shaking my head and ruffling his hair. "Alright, then. Go ahead Mr. Watcher."
"Love you!" He shouts as he dashes off.
I smile fondly, making my way home. It was a good night.

I get to Kain's office a few weeks later, sitting down in front of him and placing down two separate folders. "There's two ways to help Zero." His eyes widen, before he's reaching for the first one. The one where I can periodically feed him my blood and push back his instincts." The pros and cons are all listed, and he reads them all before reaching for the second. Him knowing I'm the master of death, means he understands how much I care for Zero to be giving him the option of connecting to me in such a way.
"Hadiran..." He trails off, eyes wet. For once, it's not out of dramatics.
I smile softly. "The choice is his, but I wanted you to approve of both before I showed him."
He nods. "I approve. Wholeheartedly. Thank you so much-"
He cuts off when I shoot up, running for the door and opening it quickly. I push the body out of the way, running for Zero. I see him standing at the stairs, Yuki pestering him and not listening. I get in front of her quickly, grabbing the sides of his face and looking into his eyes. "Yuki, leave." I order.
"But-"
"Now." I cut her off.
When I hear her leave, I sag, smiling up at Zero. He's almost feral, and I speak to him quietly. "It's okay. You're okay." He calms, obviously, his vampire listening to me. He sags into me, his head going to my shoulder. I wrap my arms around him, running my fingers through his hair.
"Ge?" He asks quietly.
I nod into him. "I'm right here. Everything's okay. I'm sorry it took me so long to find a solution." I whisper into his hair.
"You can fix me?"
I hum, continuing to run my fingers through his hair. "There's nothing to fix, Zero. You just need a little help. I can give you that help now." He chokes and I continue humming. "Come on, you can stay with me tonight. How's that sound?" I ask softly.
He nods into me, and I wrap my arm around him, turning to lead him away. My eyes meet Kains, and he nods to me. I give a small smile to him, nodding back before leading Zero to my home.
I don't realize the man that was listening to the conversation between Kain and I, was Kaname. Nor do I notice him watching the entire interaction between Zero and myself.
__________________________________________________________
Leaving Zero to continue resting in my bed before I drop a bunch of information on him, I continue to let him sleep through the next day, leaving a note for him to stay comfortable if he wakes while I'm gone.
I walk to class, my arms filled with the aids I have for each student, depending on what their struggling with. It took time to get them all done, as each student needed a different approach, but I hope they at least use them.
When I get to class, I don't notice Kaname and Takuma watching me extra closely, trying to ensure I wasn't harmed. I would roll my eyes if I knew.
I smile at the greetings they all give me. "Hello! I finished up the aids I made for what everyone needed a little help in." I walk around, handing out the aids to their designated student before walking back down to the front. "These will help you for when you're alone, but don't hesitate to come to me for extra help. I'm usually in the library or courtyard on my free time."
They thank me, a few overexaggerating, causing me to flush. I huff. "It's nothing. You can thank me by using them." I chuckle before beginning the next lesson. The girl yesterday chose to speak about vampire hunters. "Alright, you wanted to talk about Vampire Hunters."
"Vampire hunters see it as their duty to kill rogue and dangerous vampires and consider themselves a type of policing force for them and do not appreciate vampires interfering." I begin explaining their duties before looking towards a boy raising his hand, nodding. "Why do they not like Vampires policing their own? We don't police them."
I sigh, leaning against my desk. "Well... that's simple. In the vampire hunter's perspective, without their accelerated strength and spells, they're still human. They're not immortal, they're not..." I wave my hand. "All powerful." I finish, before continuing. "So, once again from their perspective, they're humans, protecting other humans. They believe it makes sense to ensure Vampires are basically... doing their own thing, I guess."
I turn away, grabbing another paper on typical missions before another girl is asking a question. "Do you agree?" She asks. I tilt my head, and she elaborated. "Do you agree with vampire hunters policing vampires?" She asks.
I lean back against my desk, crossing my arms as I think. "It's a lose-lose situation." I continue. "I've seen what happens when outsiders interfere in personal matters, and I've also seen when personal matters are left in the hands of their own kind. Both situations eventually failed." I give a sheepish smile. "Is that a good enough answer?"
She sighs with exasperation, but a small smile tilts her lips as she nods.
I grin, beginning once more. "Now, this actually elaborates a bit on the previous question. Vampire hunters generally have an antagonistic attitude toward vampires, generally due to the danger posed by them and the damage they have done. Many hunters express the opinion that vampires enjoy killing too much, thus the reason why they don't think vampires should police their own." I raise my hands with a laugh at the outburst. "I know, believe me, I know." I shake my head with a smile. "You can look at it from a broad perspective, and realize there's good and bad in every species, and reserve judgement for each individual. Or you can look at it from a narrow perspective. Vampire hunters were born and raised to dislike vampires. Just like Vampires were raised believing humans to be beneath them, food or not." I raise an eyebrow when no one contests that. "Is it right? Of course not, but it's how the world is now."
A hand goes up and I nod to the boy. "Are you one then?" He asks. "A vampire hunter."
My eyes widen and I cough to hide my laugh. "Uh, no." I clear my throat. "No, I'm not a vampire hunter." I crease my eyebrows. "Are there vampire hunters teaching here?" I ask sincerely, hoping the fuck not.
A girl pipes up. "Yeah!" A few nod and I hum, spacing out as I think on that.
"Wait... you're not a vampire or a vampire hunter?" A girl asks.
"Does that make you human?" Another girl asks.
"Baka. He's obviously not." A boy grumbles.
I snap out of my head, chuckling. "None of the above." I grin, it only widening when a few groan.
"Alright." I clap, "Vampire Hunters have the power to sense vampires, have slightly accelerated healing, and can even perform some magical spells. Vampire hunters are able to wield Anti Vampire-Weapons. These qualities make a hunter much stronger than that of the average human. Some vampire hunters are known to live past the expected age of an average human due to the amount of vampire blood in their veins."
A hand goes up and I nod to them. "Is it true vampire hunters began by eating a vampire?" He asks, a little weary.
"Of course not!" I say with humor, thinking he's joking. Vampire hunters began after finding some magic in their blood, the tools coming from artifacts left behind my Teddy and me.
I snap out of my head once again, noticing the class watching me, a few wide eyes. I turn weary. "What?" I ask.
Kaname clears his throat, speaking up. I look up to him, seeing the humor in his eyes, and it confuses me. "It's not common knowledge. It is believed vampire hunters were created after eating a vampire." Oh. Oh, that...
I swallow, nodding slowly. "Right. Of... of course." I look back to the class, realizing I just gave a way a lot more information about myself, before sighing. "Well, it's too late now." I sigh, seeing a few perks up. I roll my eyes, hopping up on my desk. "Who would like to learn of how vampire hunters came to be, hm?"
"Yes!" Is shouted.
"Well to understand that you must understand where they descend from. Long ago, there were humans that could wield magic. True magic, without the use of spells in the more powerful. There was a whole civilization." My eyes go far as I speak. "Hidden completely from the human world. They had their own schools, shops, towns. Cities hidden within other cities from the humans' eyes." I smile, coming back to myself. "Now, they eventually died out, but there were a few straggling decedents, or those with very little magic blood, it was because of this that it I guess you could say, activated, and the stronger humans, now known as Vampire hunters, evolved into what they are now. The relics were found from the remains of the lost hidden civilization. It's also how they're able to be created. The knowledge is very scarce though, so I'm sure only one vampire hunter has it these days." I finish with a smile.
The class is staring at me in shock, before the bell rings and I jump down. "Wait! So, there was something before vampires?!"
"Wait, how have we never heard of this?"
"Does that mean you were one? Are one?"
I chuckle, grabbing my papers before looking up with my second secret grin. "I wonder."
Groans are heard, and I exit the room, laughter following me.
I don't see Kaname's calculating stare as he watches me go. If I did, I'd be worried, even if there's nothing to worry about, as Kaname would never ever harm me.
