Your Father is Dead. You Said so Yourself

Chapter 13- Your Father is Dead. You Said so Yourself

Michael angrily sped walked to the Potion Master’s quarters. He had been there a few times in the past to get rare ingredients or even have drinks with the dour man. But now, he was about to filet the man alive for abandoning him and leaving him to deal with missing students during a crisis.

So yeah, Michael was pissed.

He banged harshly on the doors to Snape’s quarters and waited for the man to answer. The door opened slightly.

“Mike-“ He started, but Michael cut him off.

“You’ve got some fucking explaining to do.” Michael practically snarled, eyes glowing a bright and violent purple in his anger. Snape sighed.

“I do, come in.” He opened the door, allowing Michael to storm inside. He made a beeline for the liquor cabinet, grabbing two (2) glasses and filling them with the hard Firewhiskey from the back. He puts them on the table and sits down, taking a drink.

“Well?” Snape stares for a moment, then sits down across from the other man, taking a sip of the amber liquid.

“The Headmaster had the most brilliant plan to keep a high value artifact at Hogwarts.” He started, voice dripping with sarcasm. “He planned to lure the Dark Lord and trap him.”

“That sounds like a shitty plan.”

“I know.” They were silent for a moment, until Michael spoke up again.

“The troll was a distraction.” He sipped his drink. “You were trying to protect the Stone.” Severus raised a brow.

“How do you know about the Stone?” Michael considered lying, but in the end it would be nice to have a Potion Master on hand in case something went wrong. Plus, finding out that it was Voldemort that had endangered those kids pissed him off.

“I spoke with the Dark Lord, he mentioned it.” He took another drink, the glass halfway empty by then.

“You… Spoke with him? At Hogwarts?” The other asked.

“Yeah, he needs my help to make sure his soul will stick to the new body. We made a deal.”

“You made a deal with the Dark Lord! Are you mad?” Severus yelled harshly.

“It does run in the family.” He replied.

“But why? You’re a muggle sympathizer, why would you help the Dark Lord?”

“You live in the muggle world right? Do you remember when those kids went missing from Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria in ’87?” Severus seemed puzzled by the sudden change in topic, but answered none the less.

“Vaguely, I wasn’t paying much attention to the paper at the time.” Mike downed the rest of his Firewhiskey.

“My father is the one who took them… and killed them.” He explained. The atmosphere was tense and silence permeated the air.

“That’s… terrible, but your father is dead. You said so yourself.”

“I lied.” As silence once again took over Michael goes to pour himself another drink, deciding to just bring the bottle back with him. Sitting down again, he continues. “Afton’s are, notoriously hard to kill. That’s why it was such a travesty when all those accidents occurred to my family, and why people think my father fled to the muggle world. But if there is ‘anyone’ who can kill that monster once and for all, it’s a rising dark lord and an Afton.”

Severus needed a moment to fully digest the information.

“Harry Potter.” The man mumbled under his breath.

“Harry Potter?”

“Harry Potter, The Boy-Who-Lived, the Savior of the Wizarding World, the child who defeated the Dark Lord as a mere infant, James Potter’s son.” He practically sneered. “The boy had apparently disappeared a few years ago without a trace, but as far as I heard he was never reported missing.”

Michael pales.

“Only four (4) kids were reported missing, but my father killed five (5). I thought I was just overreacting, but…” He trails off.

“How do you know there were five (5)?”

“My father left some of his research behind. It’s not much, but he always references five (5) kids.” He takes a long drink of the alcohol. Severus swears under his breath.

“What exactly is your plan Mike? When your father is dead, what then?” He asks with a scowl.

“I’ll figure it out once I get there, but he ‘needs’ to die.” Michael says with a distinct finality.

“And what of the Dark Lord? Who has killed thousands of men, women, and children in his insanity. Harry Potter was supposedly going to be the one to finally defeat him, but the boy is most likely dead.” The man says harshly.

“Fuck.” Mike rests his elbows on his knees, resting his head in his hands and tugging his fingers through his hair. “I’ll figure something out Severus, I will. I’ve got time.”

“Time. What time? The Dark Lord is going to get the Stone by the end of the year.”

“Once I help him he will owe me a debt. I’ve been keeping an eye out and I will have a way to distract him after he gets his body.”

“Oh really? What would that be?” The scowling man asks critically.

“I’ll use my debt to make him help me find and kill my father. I heard they’re planning on opening a new Freddy’s, and I just know he’s behind it. I’m going to apply for the nightguard position and I’ll use the debt to make him come with me.” He explains quickly.

“How do you know that the Dark Lord won’t just send one of his followers in his stead?”

“It will go against our debt, as long as I’m specific which I will be.” Michael pauses. “ I’m sure the Dark Lord will be too interested not to go himself anyways.”

“Now why would the Dark Lord be interested in a muggle pizzeria?” Severus asked with a hint of his usual sarcasm.

“My father’s research, was on soul magic. He wanted to bring dead souls back into a new host, essentially bringing them back to life, while simultaneously dabbling with immortality. That’s why he killed those kids. What Dark Lord wouldn’t be interested.” Michael rationalized. Severus was silent until…

“Harry Potter could still be there.”
