New Beginnings
It had been almost two years since the blonde found her in the forest. Two years of getting to know each other all over again. Two years of learning all the secrets there were to learn of themselves and of each other. Two years of love . And only a year since they had committed to each other fully.
Glinda had been so silly after that night they had bit each other. Elphaba lost count of how many times she caught the blonde grinning at her reflection as she stared at the mark. Though it was nothing compared to how she reacted to seeing the mark on the witch. Elphaba was convinced that her mark was one of the most kissed spots on her body. As adorable as she found the blonde, she knew she was just as ridiculous. Had been ridiculous to even think that Glinda did not want the same as her when the evidence was right in front of her that the blonde did. Those marks represented a full circle moment for them. For her. The days of being rejected were in the past. Now she had a future ahead of her. One where she was not alone. One where each day brought something new and amazing.
She ran her hand over the roundness of her belly. That was another conversation they had shortly after they became mated. Should they take that next step? She had asked Glinda about it at breakfast one morning. From the way Glinda’s eyes had glazed over, and how dreamy her expression had gotten, the witch knew what the answer was. But she still wanted to hear her mate say it.
“Of course I would love that. Seeing you… Our own little…” The blonde had practically been giddy. “I didn’t want to be the one to bring it up though. Since you’re the one who will be doing most of the work. Most of the work with the pregnancy, I mean. Not with the kids.”
“Kids? Plural? As in more than one?” She couldn’t help but tease. She’d never tire of the sight of a blushing Glinda.
The blonde had literally hidden her face with her mug at the tease. She was adorable. She kept finding new ways of making Elphaba fall harder. The disconnect between this silly woman who made her days brighter and her lover who ravaged her on almost a daily basis was one Elphaba almost wanted to study. “That’s up to you, Elphie.” Glinda’s fingers kept playing with her mug. “I can’t deny that the thought of a bunch of mini-you running around our home isn’t a lovely one.” She had then stood up and walked around the table to place her hand on the still-flat stomach of the green woman. Kneeling down next to her, Glinda had begun tracing Elphaba’s stomach. Clearly imagining it in her head before pinning Elphaba with a look of giddy desire. “Can we start now?”

Shortly after that conversation, Elphaba had stopped drinking her birth control tea. Taking it slow. She knew that she had been drinking it for so long that coming off it would not feel great. It didn’t. It left her with a massive headache and feeling like something was crawling on her skin. She didn’t dare do anything about the suppressants after that. Not until the symptoms had subsided. Once they did, she spoke with her lover about the next step.
Elphaba had learned how to make her own batch of suppressants long ago. Both for herself, and for Glinda. Just in case. She had not wanted to think about the fact that she had once again included the blonde in her future plans, but once the blonde re-entered her life she had been glad for it. Doubly so once the blonde had become comfortable enough to shift again. She did not want to risk a ‘whoops’ before they had spoken about it. Or were bonded to each other. Now that they were, she couldn’t wait. A heat or the rut wasn’t necessary for their next step. But Elphaba wanted to. She wanted the full experience. At least once.
After discussing it with Glinda, they both stopped taking the suppressants around three weeks after their initial conversation at the breakfast table. Elphaba had even made a potion designed to speed things along, Glinda helping her with the alpha-related details. Now that she knew that the blonde wanted the same thing as her, she did not want to wait a minute longer. She wanted the life she never thought she’d have. She wanted her family.
It didn’t take long. The next day Elphaba had been working in her garden, chatting with her Wolf friend who often stopped by to help out. She was mid-sentence when she doubled over from the pain that hit without warning. The Wolf had first rushed to help her before he abruptly stopped and sniffed the air. “Elphaba, I suggest you go inside right now.” He had said kindly, still keeping his distance. Sensing the cause of her pain, she agreed.
The Wolf helped her to the door. He had not touched her, stating that her alpha might not respond well to that. Especially since they were now mated. “It’s just instinct. But I’d still like to avoid getting in a fight with my friends because I escorted you to a door.” But he had been there in case the pain got worse. Still, the last thing Elphaba saw before she closed the door was his grinning face. “Have fun, ladies.” He would be insufferable later. She knew it.
But right at that moment she did not care. She wanted her mate. She headed to the bedroom, instinctively knowing that the blonde would come find her. She was right. Glinda had come tearing inside their bedroom shortly after. From her scent, Elphaba knew that the effects had taken hold of her as well. It wasn’t long before clothes were in a heap on the floor.
They had been together during heats and ruts before. But never like that. Never at the same time. Never freely losing themselves in the passion and love they shared. This heat had lasted longer than the others. Most likely due to the potion Elphaba made. She suspected that she had made it stronger than necessary. But as she lay in the bed with the blonde still moving inside her, slowly kissing and whispering words of affection, she found that it was one mistake she could live with. If not make again.

Now laying in the hammock her friends had set up for her in her beloved garden, Elphaba felt happy. Her back and feet ached. She felt nauseous all the time. But she couldn’t remember ever being happier. She never thought she’d be here. Her lover had been wonderful the entire time. Taking care of anything in the house that Elphaba found more and more difficult to do. She had even busied herself with making baby clothes for the new arrival. The first time she presented Elphaba with the little clothing, she had to fight herself to not burst into tears. Out of everything, Elphaba liked the hormones the least.
Glinda would also look after Elphaba herself. Doing things like brushing her hair or rubbing her feet or her back. Of course, that led into the other part of the pregnancy that took Elphaba completely by surprise. She was constantly horny. More so than she could ever remember being. The worst of her heats hadn't even been like this. She wanted the blonde all the time. So much that she ached each time they were not in the same room. She had been thinking about how to bring it up to Glinda without sounding too needy when the blonde had complained about being shifted all the time, and that she couldn’t figure out why.
From there they figured it out. Repeatedly. She kept finding new things to love about the blonde. Glinda made it clear that she loved looking after her. Elphaba already knew that. She had shown it in many little ways since their reunion before they even reached this point. But now, with the little one on the way, she had only doubled her efforts. “If that meant having to be shifted all the time because my body is reacting to my mate's desires, who am I to complain?” She had told Elphaba with a grin.
Her friends had also been wonderful. Offering to help with the garden or any repairs for the house. For the first time in her life, Elphaba could truly say that she felt pampered. The pale hand caressing her stomach only made her smile more. “What are you thinking about, darling?”
She reached down to link her hand with Glinda’s. “This. Our new life.” Elphaba wondered what the Elphaba of only five years ago would think. Would she even believe that there would come a day when she was relaxing in a hammock with Glinda, stomach swelling with their child? That there would be a time where her most pressing concern was what name to give the little one? Probably not, she thought with a wry chuckle.
Glinda then reached around to place her other hand on top of Elphaba. “Good thoughts?” She whispered.
Elphaba had to laugh at that. “The best.” She tilted her head up to meet the blonde’s lips. Kissing Glinda was something she would never get tired of. Especially the dopey look the blonde always had on her face after they kissed and the knowledge that she was the one to put it there. Moving slightly to get more comfortable she then felt something else that she was to blame for. Looking up at the blonde, she smirked. “Only the best.”
If Glinda began planting suggestive kisses on her neck in response, she certainly wasn’t going to complain.
Life was good.
