Chapter 10

Draco and Kalevi walked briskly down the corridor, their conversation filled with anticipation for their upcoming Potions class. Draco, his annoyance from the previous events still lingering, couldn't help but vent his frustration to Kalevi. "Can you believe Potter actually managed to retrieve the golden egg?" he sneered. Draco's voice dripped with annoyance as he continued, "I mean, how is it possible that someone like him, who constantly relies on luck and the help of others, manages to succeed at every turn?" Kalevi, accustomed to Draco's rants against Harry, simply shrugged and replied,

"Perhaps it's not just luck. Maybe he possesses a secret talent or skill that we have yet to discover." Draco scoffed, dismissing Kalevi's theory with a wave of his hand.

"Secret talent or skill? That's highly unlikely," Draco retorted, a hint of scepticism in his voice. "I've been at Hogwarts for years, and I've never seen Potter excel in anything other than getting himself into trouble." Kalevi raised an eyebrow.

"I suppose everyone has their own opinions," Kalevi said in a nonchalant tone, hiding the slight disappointment upon hearing Draco's dismissive response. His heart raced whenever Draco spoke passionately about Potter, but he couldn't let his true feelings slip. As they reached the entrance of the Potions classroom, Kalevi's mind wandered, his gaze fixated on Draco's confident stride. Kalevi couldn't help but notice the way Draco's eyes lit up whenever he spoke with such passion. His heart raced with each word.

As they entered the Potions class, the air was heavy with the scent of brewing potions and the low murmurs of the students. Kalevi couldn't help but feel a thrill of anticipation as he settled into his usual seat beside Draco. It was in this class that Kalevi had first noticed Draco's exceptional skills in potion-making, and he had been captivated ever since.

"Can anyone tell me the use of the Maxima Potion?" Professor Snap announced entering the classroom. Both Draco's and Granger's hands shot up almost immediately , eager to answer the professor's question. Professor Snape scanned the eager faces in the classroom before his eyes fell on Draco.

"Mr. Malfoy, please enlighten us," he said, his voice dripping with a hint of sarcasm. Draco straightened up in his seat, a confident smile playing on his lips.

"The Maxima Potion, a potion that temporarily increased the spell power of the drinker, making their spells inflict greater damage," Draco's voice echoed confidently through the Potions classroom as he explained the purpose of the Maxima Potion. The other students listened. As he spoke, Kalevi couldn't help but be drawn to Draco's commanding presence.

"Excellent, now Granger, how do you make a Maxima potion?" Snape's voice remained silent as he spoke, directing his attention to Granger.

"Leech Juice and one Spider Fang, sir," she said, Hermione Granger's voice rang out with confidence as she answered Professor Snape's question.

"Very good, now today we will be making a Maxima potion, everyone around their cauldrons with your partners," the professor announced, his voice projecting throughout the classroom. The students immediately began to move, scrambling to find their assigned partners and gather the necessary ingredients. Excitement buzzed in the air as they prepared to put their knowledge into practice. Snape walked around the room, observing each pair closely, his critical gaze never wavering.

Draco and Kalevi chuckled as they playfully debated over the proper way to brew the Maxima potion. "Come on, Draco, everyone knows that adding the Leech Juice before the Spider Fang is the key to a successful brew," Kalevi teased, a mischievous glint in his eyes. Draco raised an eyebrow, his signature smirk appearing on his face. "Oh please, Kalevi, that's just your theory,"

"Yeah, well I'll prove it," Kalevi snickered.

"Come on, Kalevi, you know I'll make this potion better than anyone," Draco teased, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. Kalevi rolled his eyes, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips.

"Oh please, Draco,"

"Boys!" Snape's voice loudly echoed from behind themas the brewing potions class continued. Startled, Draco and Kalevi turned to face their professor, their wands still poised over the bubbling cauldron.

"You both seem to think you have all the answers," Snape said, his dark eyes narrowed. "But potions is not just about theories or proving each other wrong,"

"Yes sir," Draco mumbled. He approached Draco and Kalevi. The students turned to face him, both wearing expressions of excitement mixed with apprehension.

"Now that you've had your fun bantering, it's time to see if your skills match your confidence," Snape said with a hint of amusement in his voice. He gestured for them to follow him to the front of the class, where a cauldron and a set of ingredients awaited their expertise. "Continue making your potion here, for everyone to watch," Snape sneered, a smirk playing on his that quickly faded away. This sudden shift in demeanour caught Draco and Kalevi off guard, but they knew better than to question their professor. They approached the cauldron with a mixture of excitement and trepidation, eager to showcase their skills in front of their classmates.

Draco and Kalevi carefully measured out the required ingredients, their hands steady with concentration. As they added the components to the bubbling cauldron, the room filled with a rich, earthy aroma. Their movements were synchronised, each step executed with precision and grace. Draco's nimble fingers expertly stirred the potion clockwise, while Kalevi meticulously monitored the temperature.

Draco and Kalevi continued to work with precision and skill, adding the final ingredients to their potion. As they stirred, the liquid transformed into a vivid hue, indicating that their concoction was nearing completion. Snape, who had been observing their progress with a critical eye, couldn't hide his surprise and annoyance at their success.

"Impressive," he grumbled. "Everyone, clean up your station's and back to your seats,"

Draco glanced over at Kalevi, giving him a small smile. Kalevi felt his heart flutter, his cheeks warming at Draco's gesture. He returned the smile, a mixture of joy and relief washing over him. The tension that had filled the room seemed to dissipate, replaced by a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie. As they cleaned up their stations together, Draco and Kalevi exchanged satisfied glances, their silent communication speaking volumes about their successful collaboration. The lingering aroma of the potion filled the air, a tangible reminder of their achievement. Breaking the silence, Snape's voice cut through the calm, "Impressive indeed. But remember, this is only the beginning."

"Yes sir," Kalevi mumbled, smiling slightly still.
