Chapter 1

“Yes, yes, I know,” Kalevi complained, his Finnish accent strongly coming through in his voice, feeling his rat crawl on his shoulder. “I still don't see why we needed to move here, in the first place,” he rolled his eyes, picking up the rat and putting it in his green and grey scarf.

“Because of your father’s work, you know that,” his mother said, fixing her sons’ carts. “You know I went to Hogwarts before moving to Finaland.”

“We know Mother,” August, Kalevi’s older brother, spoke, interrupting their mom. “We need to get going before we’re late,” he said, grabbing his younger brother by his coat and dragging him onto the train. “You're lucky mother and father talked the headmaster into letting us get sorted earlier, otherwise we’d seem like real outcasts,” August deadpanned, waving politely to his mother who was tearing up and father who was holding her. He looked at them sternly, he hadn't spoken a word this whole time.

“How are we outcasts?” Kalevi sat down, legs criss crossed on the seat.

“Hogwarts doesn't get ‘new students.’ Especially during the after their first year,” August looked Kalevi up and down before sighing. “You sit like a girl,” he rolled his eyes, putting his head against the window. “This is the year Kalevi, the year we take him down-” August was interrupted by knocking on the wood and glass door. August got up and opened it. There stood a blonde boy with an irritated face as a brown-haired girl whose hair was tied up in a ponytail.

“I'm sitting here because all of the other areas are full," He spoke harshly as he walked in and sat next to Kalevi. The girl sighed and sat down next to August. "I'm Draco, Malfoy." The blonde deadpanned, sticking his hand out for Kalevi to shake.

"And I'm Pansy Parkinson-" the girl spoke. Her voice was annoying.

"No one cares Pansy," Draco sighed. "Are you guys going to say your names or just sit there like idiots,"

"Oh, my name is Kalevi Karlsson," Draco's eyes widened at first, hearing his accent. Kalevi put his hand against Draco's, shaking it firmly.

"Karlsson?" Malfoy repeated. "Are you new to Hogwarts? I haven't seen you around,"

"Yes, we are," August interrupted the conversation that seemed to be going on between just Draco and Kalevi.

"How old are you?"

"I'm 18 and my brother is 16," August said.

"Are you Ivar Karlsson's sons?" Draco smiled slightly.

"Yes," Kalevi mumbled. Draco smiled wider.

"I've heard excellent things about you two. Pleasure to know that you fall into the wrong crowd,"

"Well it's a pleasure to meet you Malfoy, Parkinson," August said. Pansy's face went red hearing August say her name.

Draco smiled warmly at Kalevi and August. "So, you two are the sons of Ivar Karlsson. Your father is highly respected among certain circles," he remarked. Kalevi and August exchanged a proud glance before Kalevi replied,

"Yes, that's correct."

Draco leaned back in his seat, studying Kalevi and August with an interest. "I must say, it's quite rare to come across individuals of such esteemed lineage at Hogwarts, especially pure bloods" he remarked, his voice laced with curiosity.

August nodded, a hint of pride evident in his eyes. "Our father has certainly made a name for himself," he replied, his tone filled with quiet confidence.

Pansy chimed in, her annoyance momentarily forgotten. "So, what brings you two to Hogwarts? I mean, besides how great the school is," she asked, her curiosity piqued.

"Our father's line of work, he got a great opportunity here," Kalevi deadpanned, feeling around in his scarf trying to relocate where his rat had crawled.
Kalevi's search for his rat was interrupted by Draco's raised eyebrow.

"Your father's line of work? Care to elaborate?" he asked, a hint of curiosity in his voice. Kalevi hesitated for a moment before replying,

"He works in magical artefacts and research. He was offered a position here to further his studies." Draco nodded, seemingly satisfied with the answer.

Kalevi's search for his rat came to an end as he finally located the furry creature nestled in his scarf. With a relieved smile, he gently scooped up the rat and held it in his hands. The sight caught Draco's attention, causing him to raise an eyebrow in curiosity. Kalevi glanced at Draco, noticing the questioning look on his face.

"Is that a rat?" Pansy piped, a slight look of fear on her face

"Yes," Kalevi explained, his voice calm and matter-of-fact. "His name is Dillburt."

Draco's lips curled into a small smirk as he observed the scene before him. His eyes flickered with amusement and something else that Kalevi couldn't quite decipher. Slowly, Draco leaned forward, his voice dropping to a low whisper.

"Interesting choice of pet," Draco mused, his tone laced with intrigue. "I suppose your father's fascination with magical artefacts extends to creatures as well."

Kalevi nodded, a hint of pride shining in his eyes as he stroked Dillburts' soft fur.

"Indeed," he replied, his voice tinged with warmth. "Dillburt here is just one of many enchanted companions we have back home."

Draco's smirk widened slightly, a spark of admiration gleaming in his gaze. "Impressive," he murmured, his curiosity piqued even further by Kalevi's connection to both magical artefacts and unique pets.

As the conversation continued, Kalevi couldn't help but feel a growing sense of camaraderie with Draco. They discussed their shared interests in magical artefacts and the intricacies of enchanting creatures. Pansy listened intently, occasionally interjecting with her own thoughts and questions.

Draco's smirk never faded as they delved deeper into their respective worlds. He seemed genuinely intrigued by Kalevi's knowledge and experiences, finding common ground in their fascination with the extraordinary.

Soon Draco's gaze made his way over to the window before returning to them.

"We will be arriving soon, we should get ready,"
