12 Weeks

As the weeks passed, Narcissa found herself in a peculiar state of transition. The relentless grip of morning sickness that had plagued her every waking moment seemed to be loosening its hold, much to her relief. With each passing day, the queasiness ebbed away, replaced by a newfound sense of vigor and energy that she hadn't felt in what seemed like ages.

It was a welcome change, albeit one that Narcissa was hesitant to fully embrace. She still found herself lingering on the edge of caution, half-expecting the nausea to return with a vengeance at any moment. Yet, as the days turned into weeks and the sickness continued to fade, she couldn't deny the subtle shift happening within her.

Though outwardly she appeared much the same as before—save for a slight bloating around her midsection—Narcissa couldn't escape the undeniable truth that her body was changing, subtly but surely. Her clothes felt snugger, her once-perfectly-fitted bras now uncomfortably tight against her expanding chest. Yet, she stubbornly refused to acknowledge the obvious, choosing instead to attribute the changes to mere fluctuations in weight.

Hermione, however, saw through her façade with a clarity that both amazed and amused Narcissa. From the gentle curve of her lips to the sparkle in her eyes, Hermione welcomed every shift, every indication of the new life growing within Narcissa's womb with open arms. To her, each subtle change was a testament to the miracle unfolding before them, a cause for celebration rather than concern.

"Narcissa," Hermione murmured one evening as they lounged together on the couch, her fingers tracing idle patterns across Narcissa's bloated abdomen. "You can't deny it forever, you know."

Narcissa sighed, though the corners of her lips quirked upwards in a fond smile. "Can't I at least try?"

Hermione chuckled softly, leaning in to press a gentle kiss against Narcissa's temple. "You could, but it won't change the fact that our little one is making their presence known."

The words hung between them, heavy with the weight of all they implied. In the quiet of their shared space, surrounded by warmth and love, Narcissa felt a surge of something akin to wonder unfurling within her chest. Despite her lingering doubts and fears, she couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the journey they were embarking on together.

The two witches get ready to go to St.Mungo. Today is going to be another check-up to see if the baby is developing correctly.

Narcissa sat in the waiting room of St. Mungo's Hospital, her leg bouncing nervously as she flipped through a magazine without really registering the words on the page. Hermione sat beside her, her hand resting on Narcissa's knee in a comforting gesture.

"You're going to be fine, Cissy," Hermione said softly, her voice a soothing presence amidst Narcissa's rising anxiety.

Narcissa offered a weak smile in response, grateful for Hermione's unwavering support. "I know, I just... I can't shake this feeling of unease."

Hermione squeezed her knee reassuringly. "It's normal to feel nervous, especially before appointments like this. But everything's been going smoothly so far, hasn't it?"

Narcissa nodded, her gaze drifting to the door leading to the examination rooms. "Yes, you're right. I just... I want everything to be okay."

Before Hermione could respond, the door opened, and a mediwitch beckoned them inside. Narcissa took a deep breath, steeling herself as she followed Hermione into the examination room.

The mediwitch greeted them with a warm smile, ushering Narcissa onto the examination table while Hermione took a seat beside her. With a flick of her wand, the mediwitch began the routine check-up, her movements precise and efficient.

As Narcissa lay back, her heart pounding in her chest, Hermione reached for her hand, offering silent reassurance. Narcissa squeezed her hand tightly, drawing strength from their connection as the mediwitch worked.

Minutes passed in tense silence until finally, the mediwitch straightened up, a smile lighting up her face. "Everything looks perfectly normal," she announced. "The baby seems healthy and developing as expected."

Relief flooded through Narcissa, her tense muscles relaxing as she let out a shaky breath. Hermione squeezed her hand in celebration, a bright smile on her face.

"That's wonderful news," Hermione said, her voice filled with joy and relief.

As they left the examination room, hand in hand, Narcissa couldn't help but feel a newfound sense of confidence blooming within her. With Hermione by her side, she knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, they would face them together as a family.

Narcissa and Hermione made their way back home. As they settled into the comfort of their living room, Narcissa curled up beside Hermione on the sofa, her mind buzzing with possibilities.

"So, how do you think we should tell the rest of the family?" Hermione asked, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled between them.

Narcissa chewed on her bottom lip, her brows furrowing in thought. "I'm not sure, to be honest. It's not exactly the easiest thing to bring up out of nowhere."

Hermione nodded in agreement. "True, but I think they'll be thrilled once they hear the news. We just have to find the right moment to tell them."

Narcissa sighed, her mind racing with potential scenarios. "I suppose we could invite everyone over for dinner and break the news then. It might be less awkward that way."

Hermione smiled at the suggestion. "That sounds lovely. And we can make it a special occasion to celebrate the newest addition to the family."

A warmth spread through Narcissa's chest at Hermione's words, the prospect of sharing their joy with their loved ones filling her with excitement. "Yes, I think that's a wonderful idea."

With their plan in place, Narcissa and Hermione spent the rest of the evening brainstorming ideas for their announcement, their anticipation building with each passing moment. As they drifted off to sleep that night, wrapped in each other's arms, they couldn't help but feel grateful for the love and support that surrounded them—a love that only grew stronger with the promise of their growing family.
