Chapter 22

“Oi!” Connell called to the trio of 4th years who seemed to be hiking towards the forbidden forest. “What are you kids up too?”  he continued to question, adjusting the quidditch gear in his arms.  Jameson, Corrine and Aine froze in place, making eyes at each other while Connell walked closer in suspicion.

“Well??” he asked again locking his eyes on Jameson.

“Wotcher Connell! We were just going on a walk before the big game.” Jameson replied promptly.

“Right... But you realize you're heading towards The Forbidden Forest, correct?” Connell noticed that Aine would not meet his eyes, and although Corrinne was staring in his direction, he was pretty sure she was staring past him.

“Well weather is nicer now...” Jameson was honest about that; it was the second weekend of March and it was warmer than it was 2 weeks ago but still chilly.

“Look, I need to get to the pitch and set up soon.” Connell sighed checking his watch “so tell me what you're doing right now.” he said in a stern voice that caused all of them to flinch and glance at each other.

“There’s a dog over there...” Aine mumbled out. “We just wanted to feed him” she had pulled out a pile of wrapped chicken thighs from her pocket.

“Yeah! We weren't going into the forest... You’re so paranoid.” Corinne defended as she unfolded her arms from behind her back, waving a huge water bottle around.

“Aine... you shouldn't be feeding random animals. What if it attacks you? What if it has rabies?” Connell sighed in frustration. “All three of you should understand that.” He lectured at them. A small part of him felt bad for spoiling there fun but why couldn't they be normal 4th years? His sister and her friends were always doing something weird like squid hunting or trying to feed bloody feral dogs.

“Come on Con! He’s harmless and we were gonna goto the game right after.. We promise.” Aine complained. Connell groaned in frustration as her glanced at his sister and her friends, who are currently dressed in Gryffindor and Slytherin colors respectively.

“Listen” Connell begins as he pulls off his own red wool hat and shoves it on to Aines head, shaking her head a little with the force. “Give the dog the food and then go straight to the pitch. If your assess aren't in the stands when the game starts...” he trails off in a firm matter as they scurried off towards the forbidden forest as soon as they heard ‘give the dog the’.

He sighed loudly as he continued his path towards the quidditch pitch, dragging his feet feeling anxious about Aine and her friends. In his opinion they were all good kids, he liked Jameson and Corrine a lot and how they both help his sister who was so painfully shy as a kid, become the more confident person she is. Even if she found him too protective most of the time, but it was his job to look out for her and since they were his sister friends, Connell felt the need to also look out for Corrine and Jameson. But both Corrine and Jameson had the tendency to have small outburst or cause fights which was-

“Con! You’re late!” Oliver shouted across the pitch as soon as Connell entered. He resisted sucking his teeth as they walked towards each other.

“No, I'm not. If anything, I'm 15 minutes early. If anything, we are an hour early – nobody else is here.” Connell sighed dropping the gear again and getting a proper look at Oliver. Honestly, he looked like he had worked himself into a proper state as he was breathing heavy and dripping in sweat.

“Ollie. Maybe you should take a break in the box. You’re already exhausted and we haven't even started drills yet.” Connell slowly removed Oliver broom from his grasp and looked back towards the castle hoping for any Gryffindor team members who decided to come early.

“It's just- it's my last game! And Professor McGonagall told me that there is gonna be a few recruiters here... “Oliver began to ramble in mostly cohesive sentences as he followed Connell around the pitch, as he began setting up drills.

“... and you're not even playing and that makes me more nervous.” Oliver continued.

“That's because I'm an alternate. You have a full team today.” Connell shot him a look briefly but continued his task.

“But- I guess - “Oliver stuttered stopping in his tracks.

“Oliver, you are the best captain this team has had in a long time, the team – mind you, that you picked is amazing. You’re gonna do great. You don't need me with you.” Connell turned and placed a firm hand on Oliver's shoulder and gave it a squeeze.

“I guess I would feel better if you were... You know with me?” Oliver admitted softly. He loved quidditch, it was what he was put on this earth to do but he really loved playing quidditch with Connell and today would be his last chance.

“I'm here. I swear. And I'm ready if someone needs to switch out. Youve worked really hard and I know you're gonna win.” Connell reassured stepping closer, giving Oliver a playful shove.

“Say it.” he poked his ribs “Say you're gonna win” poking a bit harder causing Oliver to laugh and push back.

“I'm gonna win”

“Louder”

“I'm gonna win!” Oliver laughed out as Connell began to slump on his shoulders and ruffle his hair.

“Good. Now stop making me kiss your ass.” Connell stepped back with a smile on his face.

“Oh, you'd like that wouldn't you? Kissin my bare ass” Oliver joked smacking Connell lightly with his broom.

“Ollie.” Connell warned.

“Forgive me Con.”

George felt like he was the king of the world, as he ruffled his hair in the mirror. He wanted to wear the green button up that Aine really liked but everyone on the team was wearing their jerseys. In the mirror he could see Lee star fished in his bed and Fred poking the Alihosty that Aine gifted him with his wand out of boredom.

“Hey, don't touch that. I don't want it to die.” George spun around towards his brother and his best friend.

“How would it die? I'm just poking it.” Fred complained as he stretched his limbs out hopping to his feet.

“With your ugly face” George replied as he sat on his bed and examined the plant making sure it was properly moist and there were no disheveled leaves. “it's grown a lot since Aine gave it to me and I want her to at least see the progress before you lot do something to it.” he explained gently setting the potted plant back down.

“Awe, that's sweet ickle Georgie is trying to prove to his girlfriend he’s responsible.” Fred cooed as he flopped on top of Lee who let out an “Oww”

“Shut up. Shouldn't we head down soon anyways?” George replied as his neck burned in embarrassment as Fred exposed him.

“Honestly, I'm surprised we are still here. Party started ages ago” Lee complained under Fred, pushing Fred's body up trying to make an escape.

“Georgie was taking foreverrr that's why.” Fred answered practically hoisting lee up with a helping hand.

“Oh my god let's just go” George groaned taking the first step out their dorms, as soon as he did, he could feel the vibrations from the music blasting down the hall but closer to the dorms it was muffled and quiet. They joked as they entered the party area that was decorated with ballons, confetti and a big banner congratulating the Gryffindor team on winning the quidditch tournament- this was all probably done by the 7th year girls.

George's eyes scan the room noticing Corrine and Katie sitting on a small couch, both cross-legged as Corrine was making wild motions with her hands as Katie took small sips of her drink listening to her. He also noticed Ron, Hermione and Harry standing in a circle laughing at whatever joke was told by Seamus Fianagan, he even noticed Oliver Wood drinking like a mad man but eventually he had found the person he was looking for.

Aine Murphy was standing in corner wearing a long flowy skirt- he had remembered them discussing how it's very trendy in her hometown currently and a knitted top that showed a small section of her stomach. Her hair was currently styled up and he could see her move a hand to her mouth to cover it as she giggled at whatever Kenneth Towler was spewing at her, but she looked good as in happy and relax so that made George happy.

“Look at him. Love sick bloke... It's Pathetic” Fred commented as George began to nudge his way through the crowd. It was a difficult feat since every few steps someone would stop him to congratulate him on the win or compliment his playstyle. Every time he was stopped, he couldn't help his eyes that would find their way to Aine and Kenneth. Kenneth was now jovially spinning Aine in a circle as they both had their heads down towards their feet, George continued to push himself towards them.

“And then you do one final step back” Kenneth instructed as Aine moved her feet back “and then usually there's a dip or a spin” Kenneth continued.

“Hey guys” George interrupted before he could pick between the two. Kenneth sent him a sheepish smile and slowly released his hand from Aine waist, taking a step back.

“Hi George” Aine smiled at him pushing herself to her toes to kiss George on the cheek causing him to sigh in adoration.

“I was just keepin her company since Knight ran off” Kenneth stuck his fist out to which George gently bumped in return.

“Thanks mate, appreciate it” George answered wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

“I wanna continue our lessons later” Aine joked as Kenneth waved them goodbye. As soon as he was swallowed into the sea of students, Aine shifted towards him fully and wrapped her arms around his middle, squeezing him tight he could tell she already had a few drinks

“Did you miss me?” he laughed as he returned the hug.

“ha-ha” Aine rolled her eyes pulling away. “Congratulations! You guys were amazing” she complimented.

“Thank you.” he kissed her lips softly “I like your skirt” he tugged at it gently near her waist, feeling the material for a second before sliding his hand up to softly rub the exposed skin.

“Corrine made it! She took two of my skirts and sewed it together.” She beamed in excitement swishing her hips to display the skirt properly.

“Oh!” Georges eyes widened in recognition “I thought I've seen this pattern before.” he looked down again and pouted, it was like Corrine had known it was a skirt he really liked and made it longer. Aine let out a giggle before she wrapped her arms around George's neck to press another kiss on his lips before she slumped into his hold entirely.

“I would like to dance with you one day.” she mumbled into his chest, George began rubbing circles into her back.

“We can dance right now if you want.” he suggested and Aine lifted her head to look towards the crowd of rowdy students.

“I meant like what Ken was showing me, it's much too busy in here for that.” she puffed out.

“Yeah? Why was Ken showin you that anyways?” George teasingly asked as he began to gently guide Aine backwards towards an open loveseat. George had originally pulled her to sit on his leg but Aine decided to lay with her feet in his lap and her head on the other armrest trapping George but he didn't mind.

“We were talkin about the movie Anastasia, and I said I've always loved the opening dance scene and he said he knew it. Did you know that he took ballroom dancing lessons?” Aine explained to George.

“Mm I think so” George nodded even though he wasn't sure if he had heard that. “you're really good at that.” George leaned further into the couch as he began to fiddle with a loose thread on Aine’s skirt.

“Good at what?” she giggled bouncing her leg, watching him.

“You are just really good with people; it seems like one conversation with you and you could know someone's entire life story.” George mumbled only slightly.

“It's just friendly conversation... I guess I just ask a lot of questions.” Aine shifted closer to Geroge “my Da use to say that.” Aine finished scrunching her face for a second.

“You know you don't tell me much about your dad.” George commented, this was true, Aine would tell him stories about her mother and George already knew Connell but Aine’s father was a mystery to him.

“Do you wanna know about my dad?” she questioned blinking at him as she tugged his glass out his hand, taking a sip.

“Yeah, I mean do you think he would like me? And you say he's always gone?” George wondered.

“Oh yeah. He is. He does like finances for big companies that need their books fixed or something? He like goes in and helps that company and reworks it so he will be gone for weeks.” Aine began “he travels to America a lot but he always brings us present back! But it sucks because sometimes he’s gone when we are home and that makes Connell really sad.” she continued.

“Does it make you sad?” George asked taking his glass back to taking a sip, the glass had gotten wet with condensation and the cocktail was watered down.

“I guess I've only ever known him being away, Connell says that before he was at least home every night but... I don't mind, I know he works very hard.”  Aine answered honestly.

“Personality wise... I would say he’s shy but he’s really funny! You wouldn't guess from how quiet he is... But he's also very stern – sometimes he and Connell will argue but they usually make up quickly. And I think he would like you because I like you. I like you alot.” Aine continued as she felt her face heat up in embarrassment.

“Oh, you like me alot huh?” George let out a chuckle before he gave Aine a tiny pinch in her stomach that caused her to giggle.

“Stop!” Aine gasped covering her stomach “I'll kick you!”

“Nah. You won't cause you like me sooo much.” George teased pulling her by the forearms to plant a kiss on her lips. Aine pushed herself closer so she was sitting on his lap fully and smiled into the kiss, looping her arms around his shoulders as his moved to her waist.

“Get a room!” Ron shouted in disgusted as he dumper some leftover confetti over their heads then dashing away. Aine held in a laugh as Geroge gently pushed her to side before pulling out his wand in an attempt to hex Ron but was stopped by her tugging on his pants leg.

“Do you wanna get a room?” she whispered in his ear after yanking him back on the couch. George took a look around the common room his eyes taking account for all of his roommates, luckily Fred and Lee were jovially dancing like idiots and Kenneth Towler was talking to some random bird.

“Are you sure?” George responded feeling nervous for some reason but Aine just stood quietly and started walking towards the dorms. George watched as her hips swayed as she took her time as if she was waiting for him to catch up, and so after he downed the rest of his drink he followed.

Geroge quickly kissed her on the lips once they passed the threshold and then gave her a spin which turned into a dip.

“George!” Aine squealed

“What im doing the fantasia dance!” he replied intertwining his hands with hers, pulling her in for another kiss. He guided her backwards against the castle wall, pushing his tongue in further while squeezing her hips. Letting out a soft moan, Aine raised her arms and began tugging on his hair, George groaned softly as he felt his pants began to tighten.

“Dont make noises like that” George teased in between kisses.

“Mmm why?” Aine responded in a dazed tone, instead of answering George pushed his lower half closer to her.

“Is this alright?” George panted.

“Yes, it feels.. It feels..” Aine pulled him closer and began kissing his neck.

“Ah- Aine” George came closer again, this was the most intimate they had been so far.. He moved his hand underneath her shirt, a new frontier.

“Georgee” Aine moaned out, the fabric of her bra was soft and thin as George explored the new area, she continued to make quiet noises. His face was hot and his mind spinning as he continued to palm her chest while moving to kiss her neck, he wanted to be as close as he could to her. Aine held on to his shoulders, biting her lip in effort to silent herself. How they ended up against the wall was beyond her, she went to suggest that maybe they should continue to the boy's dorm when something in the shadows caused her to gasp.

“George” Aine called out but he only hummed in response, assuming she was just letting out a gasp of pleasure and not shock.

“George.” She stated again but this time she placed her hands on his chest pushing him off slightly “its Ginny.”

Upon hearing his little sisters name George whipped his head to the side and sure enough it was Ginny Weasley, in her pajamas and with a disgusted look scrunched onto her face.

“You alright?” Aine questioned Ginny as she slid from underneath George's body, he wanted to let out a sigh in disappointment but withheld as Aine headed towards ginny. He took a second to press his forehead against the wall and calm himself before following.

What were you doing?” Ginny asked sending a look to George who rolled his eyes in response.

“No, what are you doing? Why are you out of bed, you know its 3rd years and up now.” George crossed his arms waiting for an answer.

“I dont care about your stupid party” Ginny hissed out, glaring at George harder and crossing her arms also in defiance, Aine let out an uncomfortable chuckle at the tension.

“Are you okay?” she asked again as she crouched a little “you can talk to me.” Aine spoke very gently to ginny but she still didn't speak.

“Did you have a nightmare?” Aine lowered her voice to a whisper, George couldn't hear but he saw ginny nod her head mutely. They converse quietly for a minute or so, more like it was Aine talking to ginny who just nodded until Aine stood at full height again. Aine rubbed Ginny's shoulder before turning back to George, quickly grabbing his hand to pull him off to the side.

“Is it alright if we go to your dorm with her?” she requested before stepping closer “she doesn't wanna be alone right now.” George obviously agreed when he understood what was going on, he remembered the summer and waking up to his mother holding ginny on the couch as they both slept.

Aine beamed at him before pressing a kiss on his cheek and going back to his sister, the held hands as they followed George to his room. The lights were still on and it was slightly messy to which George apologized for before swiping any extra clutter from his bed quickly on to his desk. Aine gave a bemused smile before she kicked off her shoes and climbed onto his mattress, she crossed her legs as she waved ginny over. Ginny gingerly followed looking quite honestly exhausted in George's opinion, Aine guided her to lay her head in Aine's lap and began to gently play with her hair. Unfortunately, the twin bed can only hold so many, so George pulled his desk chair over to the edge of the bed to join them.

“You can sleep now; George will protect us.” Aine joked sending a wink to George. He felt his face twist into a bashful smile, his heart couldn't take it when she acted cheeky.

“I'm sorry George” Ginny yawned pulling the blanket to her chin closing her eyes.

“It's alright Gin, honest.” George responded, he watched them quietly until Ginny fell asleep, Aine followed after and eventually and uncomfortably so did he.
