Remus sighed, "Sirius, we do not need a dog. Do you know how much responsibility they are? If I can't even leave you unsupervised, you think having a dog will be a good idea? Now seriously, quit asking me."
Sirius smirked,"Siriusly?"
"I set myself up for that one didn't I." Remus said with pursed lips.
"You certainly did Moony. Now back to the dog, we should totally get one! The dog and me can play when I'm Padfoot and it'll be soooo cute!"
"Well the fleas wont be very cute."
"Aww come on Moony! I wont let it get fleas! I'm very responsible!"
"You couldn't even stop yourself from getting fleas!"
Remus got up from the couch, his knees cracking like fireworks."Old man." Sirius teased. Remus threw a throw pillow gifted to them by Lily at him. "Im going to take a shower, and while I do, you had better behave." Remus instructed. Sirius flopped onto his back and groaned."Does this mean no dog?" he asked. Remus rolled his eyes and walked into the bathroom.

ONE DAY LATER
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Remus, wake up! The day is new and the dog- I mean- the groceries are calling to us." Sirius called out, like an annoying rooster Remus would like to stab and cook for dinner. "Fine, fine, fine." He croaked out.
"Get dressed and ready! We need to leave now!"
"Im trying!"
5 minutes later after Remus had thrown on the first clothes he found and brushed his teeth quickly he walked towards the front door where Sirius was tapping his foot and looking at his watch(which didn't even work anymore). "Ah! Finally lazy bones decides to show up. Now get in the car." Remus sighed and obeyed the commands of his idiotic boyfriend. What Remus didn't know about was the leash and collar in the backseat floorboards which Sirius had put there that night when Remus was taking his unnecessarily long showers.
Once they were both in and buckled up, Sirius started the car up and started in the direction of the grocery store(and the shelter). " Why're you so eager to go to the grocery store?" Remus questioned, narrowing his eyes."Just excited to see if i can break my previous record of how many things I can sneak into the cart." Sirius smirked mischievously, hoping to hide what he was really doing. Remus raised his eyebrows, not believing him for a second. Sirius turned the wheel and Remus flicked him.
"Wrong turn idiot."
"No its the right turn."
"The grocery store isn't this way!"
"We aren't going there."
Remus groaned, realizing what was going on. Sirius no. We are not getting a dog, I already told you. Now turn the car around." He demanded. "Can't do that I'm afraid." Sirius chirped."Also, we're here." He grinned and got out of their beat up black car. Remus got out after Sirius, his shoulders slumped. He was really starting to get frustrated. He inspected the blue building. It had a side yard-probably for the animals to play- and some fliers for missing animals on the windows.
"Lets head in!" Sirius squeaked, hardly able to contain his excitement. A stressed looking woman with short black hair, eyes that constantly jumped from place to place, and deep frown lines saw them and waved them in. "Amelia,"She called out,"go help them!"
A girl who looked about who looked around 13 jogged over to them, flinging her long, thick black hair over her shoulders. "How can I help you?" She asked, looking kinda bored.
"We're here to get a dog, preferably a black-"
"Not a black one! Definitely not a black one." Remus quickly interjected. Amelia raised her eyebrows and suppressed a smile. "Alrighty, well follow me and I can show you the dogs! Any specific requirements or preferences-not black obviously- about the gender, age, size, or something else?" She questioned. " Small without too much energy would be good, and other than that nothing else." Remus responded. She smiled at that. "Oh I know the perfect dog for you!" She led them into a room filled with barking dogs in cages. Remus felt his heart melt. They walked to the back of the room where puppies were inside of crates lined with blankets.
She clicked her tongue."Aha! Here is Charlotte," She said, grabbing a small black and white dog out of a crate," shes about 3 months old and shes a mixed breed. She won't get too large, only about a small medium size. Either of you wanna hold her?" Sirius reached out and grabbed the dog ."Awwww! Remus you can't say no to this face!"
"I can and I will."
Amelia scanned them both.. "I can let you two into a room bye yourselves to discuss if you want. With Charlotte of course."She offered. "That would be great." Remus accepted gratefully. She walked over to a door they hadn't noticed before. She pulled the door open and flicked on the lights and ushered them in, closing the door behind them once they were in.
Sirius turned to Remus, still holding the puppy. "We have to get her! We have a special connection, I feel it!"
"Sirius, dogs are a lot of money, and they're also very destructive. Are you going to pay for it and clean up after it?"
"Of course! I'm rich so I can pay for her, and I'll clean up after her, I really will!"
"Then fine, you can get the dog. But I'm not helping you."
Sirius squealed with delight."YAY! Thank you Remus! You wont regret this!."
"I highly doubt that."
