Love and Envy
The same day, Joe Biden was sitting down on his couch, watching Wheel of Fortune reruns on his television. He was enjoying the afternoon by himself, getting some much needed time alone after having a busy week at work. Election season was always such a drag, usually at least. He watched the TV, silently besides the occasional chuckle at a joke. But all his peace and quiet was suddenly one of his assistants walked into the room, a grim look of sorrow on her face.
"Hi Joe, how are you doing?" she asked, trying to smile at him but she simply couldn't hide her disappointment.
“Good, is everything..” Joe gave a half reply to her, before trailing off, not finishing his thoughts.
"Joe, I have some unfortunate news for you.." The assistant looked down, avoiding eye contact.
“Kamala, she... Lost the election didn't right?" Joe asked.
The assistant looked at Joe in confusion, it was like he read her mind.
"How did you-" she asked before Joe cut her off.
"They cut away from my show to give the results.." he mumbled, a slight hint of annoyance in his voice.
"Oh, I see." She sighed. Joe didn't reply to her, the show was far more interesting to him then anything going on in politics right now. He really could care less.
The assistant stood up, putting her hands together neatly before saying,
"Well remember, everyone is here to give you support, I understand this is going to be tough for you."
Joe waved her off without a word, he just wanted to continue to show. The assistant understood he wasn't in the mood to chat so she exited the room, leaving Joe alone, back to his TV.
He tried to turn his attention back to the TV, but whether he wanted to admit it or not, the election results were lingering on his mind. He grumbled, turning off the TV to focus more on his thoughts.
He was almost inextricably happy for Donald, almost. One thing, or rather person seemed to hover over Joe and Donald. And it was beginning to become frustrating to ignore its presence. Anytime Donald was doing something to promote his campaign, "it" was always there standing behind Donald like it was the First Lady of the United States. "It", was always interrupting the time Joe tried to spend with Donald. The two couldn't even simply be on a stroll together, or be enjoying a sunny afternoon on the golf course together without Donald being bombarded with calls, texts, tweets, and emails from "it". Like some sort of obsessive stalker tracking poor Donald's every move. It disgusted Joe, truly it did. But, whether Joe would ever admit it or not, (he would most certainly never admit it) jealousy grew on him. Joe saw the way Donald would sometimes smile or laugh to himself when checking his phone. It didn't matter if Joe dolled himself up for their dates, if "it" had said something compelling enough, Donald couldn't hold himself back. Donald was never aware enough too know awful it made Joe feel.
His beautiful Burnette locks, alien like structure, and piercing 500 yard stare. Joe knew why Donald liked Elon Musk so much. Nonetheless it never stopped Joe from feeling such envy towards the man, who really shouldn't even have been a competitor for him. Lets be real, Elon didn't know politics like Joe did. That elongated muskrat just got lucky with his money, he had no real skills or abilities, not like Joe did. Yet somehow, Donald just seemed to have a weird infatuation with Elon. Joe would never want to doubt his lover, but he really doubted Donald's judgement when it came to Elon. And, only Elon that is, Joe had no reason to doubt such a beautiful intelligent man like Donald otherwise, right? Surely not.
Joe let out a self loathing snicker to himself. It was likely a smart choice to let it go for the time being.
He began to reach for the TV remote when he got a notification on his phone, he grabbed his phone to see a pleasant surprise. A text from Donald simply reading, "Come over at 6 why don't you? We have some 'celebrating' to do ;)". Joe jumped off of the couch, he knew exactly what this meant.
