Chapter 1 dark newt and war days
Chapter one the war
Newt and his team the dragon's Brigade are the only air combat unit, they get sent into dangerous situation more often then not, Sapphire and Ruby are the youngest of the dragon's and belong to me and Jackson we raised them since they hatched and they are bonded to us, if one dies so shall the other, the other five members of our team are not bonded to their dragon's so that is not a problem for them
Our mission this time is to go rescue or kill fifty soldiers who were caught by the enemy and are being questioned, this is about stealth if we want to rescue them
we landed the dragon's in the forest closest to the camp they are being held at me and my second in command Jackson killed two enemy soldiers by breaking their neck and stole their uniforms and we got in to the prisoners with no problems, we explained we are there to rescue them and we killed any of the guards that tried to stop us we get them onto the dragon's and head for the medic camp about fifty miles away so about a five minute flight at full speed,
we didn't use magic because the wards would have alerted them to the fact we were there.
We dropped them off at the medic camp then went to report to the general of our camp General Marcus who is a mean bastard to us dragon riders because he thinks we don't know what it means to be in a war since we fly forgetting about half of our rescue missions we are on foot without our dragon's,it is so common me and Jackson have nicknames gave to us by the enemy like we are bogeymen Jackson is known as the God of war and I am known as Chaos because of my high body count and strategies cause chaos to the camps before we strike, Jackson's name is because when he is using a sword instead of magic or even focus his magic though the sword instead of his wand they think he is unmatched
little do they know more often than not when we spar with weapons or not I win when it comes to magic we tend to tie or whoever has the most creative thought wins
After reporting to General Marcus he hands us a file on our next mission, kill the head of the owl team the enemies have
Jackson said "with all due respect Sir we are not assassin's,we know nothing of the guy and you don't even have his location"
General Marcus said "you have your orders follow them or go to Azkaban lieutenant, captain Scamander you need to have better control over your team I expect you to punish him for talking out of turn"
Newt said" Sir yes Sir I will have him clean the dragon stall's without magic" (lying my arse off but what the general doesn't know won't hurt him)
We leave the tent and start to strategize our next course of action
Jackson said" I'm starting to think Azkaban sounds like a vacation"
Sampson said "I think the guards would make our worst memories pop out to often or I would go to avoid this shit show"
Simmons said "we could follow the owls back after a attack"
Newt said "best idea I have heard so far so let's go with it"
Jackson said "well let's go hunt some attack owl's"
We found some three days of searching later and managed to follow them, the soldiers there started to throw killing curses so we burnt their compound to the ground and caught the leader of the owl team and took him to General Marcus
General Marcus was not happy we didn't follow orders and kill him but the ICW wants to question him so we didn't get into trouble for disobeying a direct order
Brian asked why everyone is still awake we could get a nap in before General Marcus gave us new orders so we all ran for cover and fell asleep because it had been about three days since we last slept
Newt wakes up seven hours later to General Marcus storming into their tent and handing over a file with our next set of orders burn the front lines because our side had pulled back and they don't want the enemy to gain that ground
We go to the coordinates that we that we were told to go to and burn and started burning it which started a giant forest fire that headed in towards the enemy we rescued a few of the creatures that we could before heading back
We reported to General Marcus and he said we did good today and handed another file over
We didn't get any down time before we were sent to protect the medic camp as so they moved to another location because they were under enemy spell fire, we helped move the camp so it got done a little faster than expected,we reported back to base
We got a new file as soon as we got back to base so we headed back out the dragon's are getting cranky and tired so we know to drag this out with a little reconnaissance so the dragon's can get some sleep I stay awake in camp and let the others sleep as well a few hours later I woke them up some on they left the camp alone so we can go set some traps and grab the files that General Marcus wanted it went of without a problem and the traps we set should disable them for a few days
We reported back to General Marcus and he said we could go for now he would get us later so I got some much needed sleep and wake up a full fourteen hours later to Jackson poking me
Newt asked "what is it?"
Jackson said "we are to report to General Marcus right away"
We go report to General Marcus and see General Grant is there
General Marcus said "General Grant is going to be borrowing you for a mission the enemy has four high ranking ICW members hostage you are to retrieve them or die trying"
We read the file and head out we land the dragon's about three miles from the camp, me and Jackson are the only ones going in the others are to guard the dragon's for this mission, we get in and a alarm sounds I tell "Jackson go get all the prisoners not just the ICW members I will hold them off" Jackson runs and followed my orders as I killed and stunned the enemy the ones that didn't die I tossed into the cells for now and we leave to go get the prisoners to the medic camp
A few months of this shit later
Newt is on the back of his ironbelly dragon Sapphire and leading his squad into the enemies main base to destroy it at all cost was the mission they were given by the ministry and ICW sanctioned,
Newt's second in command Jackson voiced his concern that after the war the ministry would turn on them because newt team of dragon riders had the highest Bodie count, we are considered the most dangerous and too good at our job's
Newt replied "I know but we can not do anything about that now let's just complete our mission and head back to camp, remember to stay with your dragons we are to far into enemy territory for us to try non-dragon combat if we are knocked off we will die before we surrender because they will kill or torture our dragon's, if one of the dragon's get hurt retreat to base camp I don't give a shit what the orders say"
Newt said "Now let's move out and destroy that Base"
The unit moved in with newt at the lead burning as much as they could before converging the dragon's fire all on the main structure and left before the enemy even knew they were there,
Sampson one of the younger members on the team said "how do we go back to normal after this?, I don't think I'll ever forget the screams of pain and terror we hear every time we go on a mission sometimes I wonder if they just use us so that their prescious aurors do not get traumatized or killed",
Jackson replied "I don't know kid, we are all wondering that, captain newt have you heard from auror Scamander recently"
Newt replied "no last I knew my brother was on a mission to get the ICW to send in some aid so I have not heard from him in a while"
The team called Newt captain newt vs captain Scamander to avoid confusion because Theseus is well know on the battlefield by soldiers as Commander Scamander because he brings in aid and aurors to rescue any unit that gets hurt or trapped that they can safely get to, key word safely if it isn't deemed safe then the dragon's brigade is sent in not that we get credit for it except by the ones we rescued
Jackson said "I'm sorry you have not gotten a update recently I know you are both close, Ruby is tiered we may have to set up a temporary camp then go to base camp first light"
Newt said "all the dragon's are so let's go to that small clearing mostly covered in trees for camp tonight"
Jackson said "so long as we don't start a fire they should not be able to find us there"
The rest of the team landed and started to set up water for the dragon's and bedrolls for the night while Jackson and I talked strategy for the briefcase I am building to hide the dragon's in the event that the ministry turned on them
After camp was set up they took shifts on who was sleeping and who was on watch the team was seven dragon's and six rider's Brian passed away a few weeks ago when we got some bad Intel, we are lucky any of us made it out alive, that is when Jackson and I got worried that the ministry was trying to kill us or our dragon's at least
We flew back just before first light and made it to base camp a few hours before lunch,the General of the camp General Marcus seemed disappointed we came back Jackson and I noticed,the other members of the team think we are just paranoid
We got word that our attack on their base made them surrender so the war is officially over and after debriefings next week we will be sent home, Jackson and I are expecting trouble but try not to ruin everyone's mood
