And It Starts
20th December 1880
Arthur Weasely did not know what to do. The last thing he remembered was having a few drinks and the next thing he knew, he was waking up in bed with a woman. He untangled himself quickly and hurried home to meet his irritated wife and his youngest, Percy who looked very stern with him.
3rd June 1881
Kendra was worried. Her arranged marriage had gone fine. They'd managed to pass off her pregnancy as Percival's but the simmering worry that the baby wouldn't look like him was growing with her baby bump. She didn't remember anything about the man who she'd slept with other than the fact that she'd woken up feeling very alone in the morning.
17th October 1886
Her suspicions had been right. Albus grew up looking distinctly different to his father. He had her brown skin but he had thousands of freckles, blue eyes and curling auburn hair.
His siblings showed a stark difference. Aberforth had thick brown hair, her dark eyes and an olive skin tone. Ariana had her father's wavy fair hair, grey eyes and near translucent skin.
7th May 1899
Percy rolled back his shoulders, he'd been sent to do an inspection on a household believed to be harbouring a magically dangerous individual. He was not to let them know his true intent, simply to act as if he was doing a routine inspection.
When he knocked, he was met with a scruffy looking boy, surveying him suspiciously, "Who are you?"
"Percy cleared his throat, "I'm here on behalf of the ministry of magic to do a house inspection."
The boy looked like he was going to answer, probably something along the lines of 'sod off', but he was interrupted by a patter off footsteps and the appearance of an older looking, significantly more put together boy who looked at the younger, tilting his head upstairs. The younger scowled but conceded, disappearing upstairs.
Percy opened his mouth to repeat his earlier introduction but the young man simply smiled, "Do come in Mr- Percival was it?"
Percy could feel his ears burning, "My name is none of your business. How did you even know‽"
His eyes flicked Percy up and down, "You have that kind of face." He muttered and then spoke louder, "It doesn't do to not learn a guest's name now does it Mr Weasely?"
He wasn't getting anywhere like this and decided to try something else but again before he could speak, he was interrupted again.
"As I said, do come in." He disappeared into the dimly lit hallway, apparently expecting Percy to follow him. He trailed after him, feeling distinctly like a scolded child.
He was led to a squashy armchair and sat down.
"Tea?"
Tea had materialized out of a plant pot, a blatant disrespect of Gamp’s law.
"How-" Percy gaped.
"Alchemy is a fascinating subject." He smiled, picking up the steaming teapot, "Would you like some?"
Percy shook his head so the young man shrugged, pouring himself some, "I believe you came here to question me?"
"Yes-" Percy gathered himself, drawing the file out of his satchel and setting it on his knee, "Your name?"
"Albus Wulfric Dumbledore." He answered easily.
"Your younger brothers name?"
Again no hesitation, "Aberforth Brian Dumbledore.'
"And your younger sister's?."
This time there was a flicker of... something on Albus' face but it disappeared as quickly as it came, "Penny Kendra Dumbledore."
And so the questioning began in full swing.
"How old are you?"
"16."
"Your younger brother?"
"15."
"Your younger sister?"
"13."
"What school are you registered under?"
"Illvermony."
"Your younger brother?"
"Hogwarts."
"And your younger sister?"
"Hogwarts."
"May I ask why you go to a separate school all the way over in America."
"Family reasons."
He answered all these questions with an easy, polite smile, not hesitating for the slightest moment.
And then- "May I meet your siblings."
Albus swallowed, "You have already met Aberforth, A-and Penny has been taken ill. Dragon Pox, she's still contagious."
Percy frowned, "And why are there were no records of this?"
Albus faltered, "Our- our mother decided to take care of Penny herself before her untimely demise."
"You do understand that this is against Ministry regulations Mr-"
"Yes I understand." He interrupted a little curtly before smoothing himself over with another pleasant smile, "Would you like to have a look around Mr Weasely?"
Percy was shown around the house, shepherded around the rooms and then politely dismissed at the front door.
"I hope you got what you wanted Mr Percival. Good day now." And then the door was shut in his face.
Later, when digging into Illvermony's student records, there was no evidence off an Albus Wulfric Dumbledore ever attending.
