BETWIXT
Time, it’s not a singular straight and narrow road in which a person follows throughout their life; new branches are created in an inconsistent rhythm brought on by each choice made.
Time and change are born from each other.
However, sometimes; a timeline must be unraveled to maintain Universal Balance in a rewoven tapestry.
One such timeline falls under this precise category: as its’ viewed by the Master of Time in the Infinite Realms. As of late the plethora of time screens in his lair have shown Clockwork what the Observant’s deemed a ‘Dark Dan’ situation.
Basically the giant eyeball-head council was going to ultimately eradicate the entire timeline themselves due to the fear of Clockwork trying to ‘cheat’ again.
The time ghost approached the largest main screen in the tower, bearing a knowing look on his scarred face while his spectral body cycled through ages of Child, Adult and Elder. Waving a hand in front of the screen; revealed the lone woman who was the ‘catalyst’ of this perceived apocalypse.
Of course, knowing the Observants; they’ll just pile this problem of armagedon onto Clockwork, who being an omniscient ghost: can literally view each and every possibly conceivable outcome imaginable.
It was convenient he had favors to cash in.
Each one from different temporal eras, each different yet similar; to the one preceding and succeeding it: as is life. Swiping the air with his hand a second time, causing the screen to fast-forward; revealed a new image of the same woman facing several obscured figures.
Now, all that is to happen will-
“Clockwork!”
Think of the two nuanced annoyances and they shall appear.
“The Observant Council knows that this threat to the time-stream will be eliminated.”
“I’m well aware of the fact.”
“You’re the Ancient of Time, Clockwork; this insult must not stand to eradicate the Dimensions!”
In the scheme of things, Clockwork knows both floating eyeballs will leave. His ‘employers’ they may be; doesn’t mean he particularly likes them.
“We are tasked with monitoring the timelines for any anomalies: such as this.”
“Knowing how to prevent temporal collapse the Observants’ Council…”
“Brings me in to do your dirty work; which you can’t be bothered with. Watching from the sidelines as always, you view these matters and debate on solutions: never once acting on your words in following through.”
Feeling glares, Clockwork turned to his silently fuming guests.
“Now, kindly; care to observe the door.”
After the duo vanished, leaving the subject of their ire to return his gaze of watching the woman and shadowed crowd.
“Everything is the way it’s supposed to be.”
So; the journey begins!
