Is baking a coping mechanism?
° If you asked me, i would say i was a pretty good toon, i did what i was told, i helped my friends, i was cheerful, the kids loved me, at least i hope they did, But.. maybe i was wrong about myself.
i mean, if i was such a good toon, why would i be ignored? forgotten, left in the dust just like fossils, maybe that's why i liked them so much, we're alike, were two sides of the same coin, although, they have it better then me, they don't have emotions, so they cant experience... whatever im feeling right now.
Honestly, i wish i was someone else, but; i also wish i was nobody at the same time, its weird, i dont like being this way either, if anything, ill just have to suck it up and deal with it, theres nothing i can do to change it, and im fine with that, ill have to be anyways. °
Shelly got up from her bed , her room was an average size, it was a bit small, but it was comfortable for someone of her size, Since she was a main, She had a good budget to make her room look luxurious, Warm yellow wallpaper lined the walls and ceilings and a fluffy brown carpet laid across the floor,
there were about 3 cabinets on the left of her room that shelly used to store her various utilities, on her right was Shelly's personal bathroom since the main one was reserved for guests,
there were a bunch of dinosaur plushies in her room, on her bed, on the floor, on top of shelves, Small and large, there were alot of them, if she remembered correctly there were about at least 32.
Her bed was neatly organized with every plushie resting comfortably in they're preferred place, her covers and pillow were a bit out of place but The Ammonite was to lazy to make her bed today, She put on her socks and put on her boots, Then She got dressed and looked in the mirror to make sure she looked presentable, She didnt really care what others thought about her anymore; but it was nice to pretend that she was doing this for some toon.
She slowly opened the door of her room and adjusted her eyes to the hall of the Main rooms, for mains, The Shell slowly walked down the large corridor, The back window casting a white glow on the carpet and making the dust particles visible, it felt a bit eerie, if she could remember correctly, she was one of the earliest to rise, it had become a habit for her, staying up thinking about what to do with her life instead of sleeping, she wonders if astro ever noticed she never got any dreams, eh.. who is she kidding, why would astro care?
Shelly walked down the stairs leading down to the main floor, she never realized how big Gardenview genuinely was, maybe its because back then she was actually busy, but, the shell finds comfort in it, now she can actually explore the place, i guess thats something positive to think about.
It took about 2 and a Half minutes for shelly to reach the first floor, she was hit with the Now more visible Golden glow of the Early morning, it seeped trough the windows and made Shelly's skin more Gold-like, She chuckled a bit to herself at that.
She spotted one of the hallways to the left, The shell remembered that it was mainly the dining area, The cafeteria for the Humans, and also sprout and Cosmo's kitchen, Shelly realized she never actually fully explored it, back when she was still talking to sprout and cosmo daily, she only got a showcase of what it looked like, It left her wondering what it would actually be like to explore the place.
She was now determined, having something to actually do she might aswell do it, its better then sitting in bed all day and making herself more depressed.
She stepped over to the Hallway on the right, It was decorated with alot of Banners and posters, Mostly of the mains, some were of cosmo, some were of poppy, there was a menu on the side It had mained themed food.
Vees juice box,
Sprouts Shortcake,
Astros cookies,
Pebbles Meatloaf,
...
Shellys Cinnamon roll.
oh yeah, she forgot Sprout made that for her, ..she remembers how thrilled she was seeing it for the first time, and how happy she was to see a kid actually eating it, she wonders if children still order that, Its been a long time since Shes talked with sprout, and honestly, i dont think she would mind if it stayed that way.
Anyway, she arrived at the dining area, it was quite large, it was atleast ⅛ of Gardenview if not more, The Shell stepped over to Sprout and Cosmos Kitc- Bakery- She forgot what they called it.
She tried to dismiss that and started to explore the place, It was atleast 40 ft length and there was a large table surrounding the corners, There was a built in double sink and 3 Stoves,
a Large fridge and a ton of Baking and cooking ingredients inside of cabinets, on top of tables and just flat out on the floor.
She observed the ingredients, some were spilt and some were cleaned up with tissues, but it seems like the two toons forgot to throw out the tissues, the kitchen wasn't exactly dirty, but it wasn't exactly clean either,
It was like a comforting kind of messy, it was nice, The short toon wondered if she knew how to bake, if she could recall, she remembers alot of sprouts recipes
Would it hurt to try?
After a good 10 minutes of setting up ingredients, she decided to try and make some sort of pastry, she doesn't remember what exactly it was, but as long as she followed the steps she remembered, it would probably turn out well.
She started by putting in some cream cheese and 1 cup of Sugar inside the mixing bowl, Some sour cream.. vanilla extract, 3 eggs... Mix that up..
Put it in the oven for 65 minutes at 325°F with a water bath..
Oh! she remembers now,
its a Cheesecake recipe!
Shelly observed the now finished cheesecake, its been about an hour and a half, the toons should be awake by now and she get going, She took a spoon from one of the cabinets and tasted a slice of her creation...
Not bad!
She would say its because she followed a recipe but knowing she baked something and it actually tasted good Brightened her day abit.
Anyway- , she should probably leave before sprout and cosmo arrive and think shes vandalizing or something, hehe... wait, why would they think that? UGH, nevermind.
She rushed out of the cafeteria and into the hallway and then into the main area again, she out her hand on her chin, hmmm... where to go next, her options are kinda limited since the toons are awake now and she cant just barge into a designated spot designed for a toon..
wait- she can,
but she chooses not to! Shelly walks over to the Back hallway, If she recalls correctly it would lead to the Garden, not Dandys personal garden, or the Garden reserved for the humans, it was more like a Backyard garden, hm, The shell thinks it would be nice to go there, laying on the grassy field and-
"Hey shelly... " A... somewhat unknown voice spoke out to her, She turned around to see...
