Party of the year
It’s the last day of the first week back in school and the talk of the day is a party tonight at Potters. Not many people get personal invites to his and his friends' parties, some people just talk about it and in no time everyone knows about it. The only requirement is that you are in year 10 or above since they don’t want to be responsible for the younger years when there is alcohol involved, plus you just don’t want people that much younger.
Sara has been enthusiastic about it since she heard about it during her first period. Emma not as much. She’s not a party popper or a bore or something she just doesn't fancy a party that she can practically smell chaos from. Everything she knows about these guys just screams that something is gonna go wrong or that something that she does not want to be around will happen.
During lunch Sara is very persistent in trying to convince Emma to come with her. She doesn't want to go alone. Sure she knows some people there but it’s not the same as having her best friend there.
“Please!” Sara basically begged her friend. “I promise it will be fun and if you're not having a good time after an hour we can leave.” Sara made her an offer.
Emma had a hard time denying her friend what she wanted when she was just begging. When she made up a compromise this became even harder. “I don’t know.”
“Pretty please!” She held her hands in front of her, continuing her begging.
“Hello there ladies. What are we talking about?” Sirius joins them at the table. That’s unusual, he had never sat with them during lunch before, hardly even said a word to them in the halls as well, or at least as far as Emma knew of.
“I’m trying to get Emma over here to agree to go to you guyses party with me.” Sara cleared up for him. He looked over at Emma who only wore a scowl on her face not wanting to talk about this with him around. She couldn’t really tell him she didn’t want to go because she thought him and his friends were idiots that definitely could not control a bunch of intoxicated teenagers.
“Why wouldn't you want to go to the most epic party of the year?” Sirius looked at her like she was an idiot because she didn’t want to come.
“Because I don’t want to. Okay?” She answered lowly.
“So you're just gonna leave your best friend alone at a party with no one else?” Sara tried to guilt trip her to going. It was kinda working.
“You got other friends.”
“Not many and no one I wanna have fun with the same way I want to with you.” She fluttered with her eyes at her.
Glaring at her for a minute trying to say no but nothing coming out, she gave up trying. “Fine. I will go for an hour and if I want to leave after that you can’t make me stay. Deal?” Emma gave in to her first offer. Reaching out her hand to shake on the deal.
“And you are actually gonna give it a chance and not just stand in a corner being grumpy?” Sara gave her a pointed look.
“Fine.” She agreed reluctantly. Sara grabbed her hand and they shaked on the deal they came up with.
“You know I think you would get along great with my brother.” Sirius, who Emma had kinda forgotten was there honestly, spoke up.
“Regulus?” Emma said, confused.
“I don’t think I have any other brothers.” He responded. Which earned him a glare.
“I have never really spoken to him.” She confessed.
“I have.” Sara piped up. “And honestly, I get what you mean.” She nodded in agreement to Sirius.
Rolling her eyes Emma stood up feeling done with this conversation. “I’m gonna go find Daisy and Olive. Guess we have to cut practice short.” She remarked walking away from the two.
They three had been planning on getting some work done on the dance and staying behind as late as possible. But now those plans had to change.

As she walked out of the cafeteria she spotted Olive right away.
“Come on, we're going out to talk to Daisy.” Emma told Olive as she walked by her standing with her friends.
“Wha? Alright then.” She pushed herself off the wall she was standing against. “See you guys later” She added to her friends as she sped up to Emma. “What’s going on? What do we need to talk about so urgently?” Olive asked from her side as they walked to the courtyard to find Daisy.
“Just about practice for today.” She told her vaguely.
As they reached outside they looked around to try and spot Daisy. They spotted her sitting against a tree with a book in hand.
“Hey. What do we need to talk about?” Daisy asked, putting her book down as the two girls came up to her.
“Practice.” Emma said, sitting down opposite Daisy and Olive joining them on the ground. “I guess you have heard about the party at Potters tonight?” Emma states more than asks. If someone hadn't heard about it they were living under a rock with headphones on maximum volume.
They both nod and hum in acknowledgement, not understanding what this had to do with their practice. “I kinda have promised to go with Sara, which means that I have to leave earlier than planned.” She told them feeling bad about just kinda ditching them.
“Oh.” They both replied quietly not knowing what to say.
“Yeah. But I was thinking. We still need to get that practice in. So if you want to, we could meet up at my house and practice. I have a dance room in the basement we can use. It’s not as big as the one here in school but it gets the job done.” She offered a solution.
“Sure, yeah that could work.” Olive confirmed that she was in on the idea. They both turned their heads to Daisy to look at her.
“All right we can do that instead.” Daisy agreed as well. “Do we still want to practise some today?”
“I’m fine with whatever you guys want.” Emma told them, getting them to decide since she was the one to change the plans to begin with.
“Guess we can just skip it today then. I don’t think we will get very far today with little time.” Olive voiced her opinion.
“Okay then, that’s decided.”
They spent the rest of the lunch break talking and joking with each other. At the end they also decided to practise on Sunday since they didn’t know if Emma was gonna be hungover the next day or not.

In the afternoon Emma and Sara were at Emmas getting ready since she lives a little bit closer to the Potters.
“Which one looks better, the black lace top with the black miniskirt or the black dress?” Emma held up the two outfit choices she stood between.
“I’m feeling the black dress more.” Sara told her. Holding up the dress infront of her she went with her friend's choice.
It was a nice short black dress with mesh sleeves. She loved how it showed her curves and it was a bit low cut so you could see much of her chest as well.
Sara was sitting by one of Emma's mirrors doing her makeup as Emma made up her mind about her outfit. Sara had on a red shirt with puffy arms, a black mini skirt with some tights under. When Emma got done with channing she went on to her hair as she was done with her makeup. She was doing loose curls, nothing special, just something to change it up from her everyday.
By the time they are ready the party officially started around 45 minutes ago. But you know, who actually arrives at a party like this on time, you always gotta be somewhat fashionably late.
As they are done getting ready they take some pictures before getting on their shoes and jackets. Emma got an oversized leather jacket and chunky heels on, where Sara got an oversized blazer and some chunky heels on. They then leave for their 15 minute walk to the Potters.
When they get there the party is in full motion. People spread out both outside in the front and back and also people being inside.
They make their way over to the kitchen to get a drink, both getting a cider.
“You made it.” They heard a voice coming over to them. Looking over they saw Sirius and James walking over to them.
“What? Were you doubting us?” Sara teased Sirius.
“Nooo.” He answered, obviously drunk.
“He may not have been at the beginning but when you were being more and more late he wasn't as sure of himself.” James gave them a more honest answer and was clearly less drunk.
“I would never disappoint you like that.” Emma said half joke comforting him.
“Come on, I want to finally introduce you to Remus. You are impossible to get to the same place at the same time.” Sirius grabbed Sara's arm dragging her away leaving James and Emma by themselves.
“Sooo.” Emma trailed off not knowing what to do now being left alone with someone she doesn't know.
“So where are your two other friends?” James asks, getting a new drink for himself. Emma was confused now. Who is he talking about? He doesn't know who she is friends with. He must have seen her confused face as he looked at him again as he went on pointing out just who he was talking about. “The two girls that you were in the dance room with.”
Ah right she had kinda forgotten about that.
“Ahh, Daisy and Olive.” She said clearing up who they were talking about. “Well Daisy I’m not a hundred percent sure but as far as I know parties like this aren't really her thing, she prefers smaller things with people she is closer to. And Olive is in year 10. So according to what I have heard she isn't allowed to come here since she isn't old enough.” She explained why the two girls were absent.
“Oh I didn’t realise they were younger. Wait, aren’t you in year 12 as Sara?” James questioned. He thought the girls he had met in the dance room were all the same age.
“I am. But we met through the dance teams the school has and any age can be a part of those. So Olive is in year 10 and Daisy is in year 11.” She went on how they knew each other despite their age difference.
“Ah that makes sense. But you know if you want one more friend here or one more in a future party I can make an exception for you.” He told her, smiling brightly.
“Thanks, but if I get my way that won’t be a problem.” She told him with a small smirk as she saw his confusion. After that she left the kitchen going to the living room leaving the boy by himself.
She scanned the living room seeing if she could find anyone she knew that she would want to talk to. As far as she could see there was no one she really knew there, only some acquaintances from a few different classes.
As she didn’t feel like mingling with them, she opted to stand by the door opening while doing some people watching drinking her drink.
For everyone including Sirius talking about this party being the party of the year there wasn't that much happening. People were dancing in the middle of the room that had been made to be a makeshift dance floor. There were people on the sofas, some talking, some making out. All around the room there were other people also talking or doing some drinking games. Through the windows she could see some of the outside where there was pretty much the same going on minus the dance floor, even if some still were dancing.
“What’s a pretty girl like you doing over here by herself?” A guy she didn’t recognise leaned against the wall by her.
“I was having a nice quiet moment by myself. Guess my plans for the night are ruined now.” She told the guy looking away from him hoping he would get the hint.
“Ooh, a feisty one, aren't ya?” He leaned into her personal space now.
Rolling her eyes at him she realised he wasn't gonna get the hint. She tried to push herself off the wall to walk away from him instead. She wasn't really successful as he grabbed her shoulder pushing her back to the wall.
“Where are you trying to go sweetheart?” She looked up at him glaring. She didn’t know what to do. She could feel that he was stronger than her, so she couldn't really just push herself off him. But she didn’t really want to make a scene either. “What lost your voice now or what?” He tried to wind her up. She started to almost feel claustrophobic now, she didn’t know what to do. She was usually the tough one, why couldn't she do anything?
“Hey, leave her alone.” A new voice appeared. She then saw a hand land on the guy's shoulder pushing him off her. She took a deep breath not realising she had been holding her breath.
“Whow there. Chill. Nothing was happening.” The guy tried to defend himself.
“Yeah sure. That’s why she looked like she wanted to punch you in the face.” The second guy told him off.
Coming back to her senses now she realised that she recognised the face of the second guy, Peter Pettigrew.
“Why don’t you leave huh?” He told him.
“What, you can’t just throw me out. You aren’t even the one living here.” He looked appalled at Peter.
“You’re right I’m not. But I can get the guy that does and he can throw you out himself if that would make you feel better. But I warn you, he will not be as nice about it as I am.” He threatened the guy. He looked like he wanted to fight back and cry at the same time. After glaring at Peter for a couple seconds he decided to just leave and bumped into Peter's shoulder on the way past him.
They both looked as he left the house. Feeling reviled, Emma looked back at Peter to find that he was already looking at her. “Thanks. You didn’t have to do that.” She stated, feeling grateful for his help but also suddenly feeling kinda shy in his presence.
“Maybe not teachicly. But no one should be talked to or being cornered like that if they don’t want to.” He offered her a small reassuring smile. Which she returned with a small smile of her own.
They stood there for probably a couple minutes smiling at each other not saying anything to the other. They kinda got lost in themselves when they got disturbed by Sara and Sirius.
“There you are.” Sara put an arm around her shoulders, she was definitely more drunk than when she saw her last. “Come on, I wanna dance with you.” She tried to drag her away to the dance floor, Emma putting up some protest.
“I need to be more drunk than this to dance at a party.” She let out a small laugh at her friend's enthusiasm.
“But you're literally a dancer.” She declared to her friend. Emma gave her a small glare. She knows why she doesn't fancy dancing at a party, at least not while she’s basically sober, and she doesn't want to go over this again with two people she barely knows. “Fone. Alright. Let’s go take some shots to get you more drunk then.” That she was up for, she never backs down from taking a shot with someone.
After taking some shots and starting to feel some buzzing they made their way to the dance floor dancing their asses off. She had soon forgotten all about the guy earlier and was just having fun with her best friend. And although she wouldn't admit it, she was having a good time.
The girls took turns dancing and going back over to get more drinks and shots when they needed a small break. Before they knew it the clock was after midnight and most people were leaving one by one.
Not long after there were only Emma, Sara and about thirty other people who were scattered around the living room, kitchen and the backyard. Themselves being in the kitchen getting a drink and joking with each other.
“Hey Sara, Emma. A few of us were thinking of playing some truth or dare, you wanna join?” James popped up to ask.
“Hell yea.” Sara cheered, dragging Emma with her not giving her much choice but to join. They all sat in the living room in a somewhat circle on the couches, beanbags and the floor. With one beanbag free the two smushed themselves together to fit on it.
Emma recognised most of the people around the room more or less. There were the obvious four, James, Sirius, Remus and Peter. Then there were the three girls she sees them hang out with a lot, Lily Evans, Mary McDonald and Marlene McKinnon. In the group was also Sirius' brother Regulus and his friends she had seen him hanging out with, Dorcas Meadowes, Barty Crouch Jr, Evan Rosier and his twin Pandora Rosier. Emma felt like they were maybe a bit out of place. It seemed like everyone here knew each other. She knows Sara knows Sirius but she doesn't know how well she knows anyone else. Emma on the other hand doesn't really know anyone.
At this point though she doesn't really care that much. They had been asked to join so they did and she was way too drunk to start over thinking everything.
“Okay so everyones here now, who wants to start?” James came over sitting down on one of the couches.
“I want to start.” Sirius sat up straighter on his seat. “Marlene.” He turned to the blond girl, who looked like she would rather not be questioned by him. “Truth or dare.”
“I do not trust your questions ever, so dare.”
“I dare you too.” He went quiet thinking of a dare. “Give one person in the room who isn’t Dorcas, Mary or Lily your phone and they get to text something to anyone they want.” He gave her a mischievous smile.
“Why not them?” She questions him.
“Because they will just do something nice since Lily and Mary are your friends and just too nice and Dorcas won’t do anything mean to her girlfriend.” He went on to explain.
“Alright, fine. Well then…” She looked around the room to decide who she would give her phone to. “Fuck. Peter.” She leaned over to give her phone to him. He took it eagerly, finding the person to text fast and start to type. “Oh no. I regret my choice.” It seems like this wasn't the reaction she wanted from him.
“Alright done.” He gave the phone back to her.
“Dude, what fuck?!” She groaned as she saw what he had sent.
“What did he send?” Dorcas piped up from her side trying to look over her shoulder.
“Nothing.” She answered a bit quickly.
“Alright then. Marlene, it's your turn.” Sirius told her, reminding her of the game.
“Right. Ehh, Pandora.” She addressed the younger girl.
So the game went on for a couple rounds. Everyone was laughing and having a good time. Then someone addressed Emma for the first time.
“Emma, truth or dare.” It was Sirius' turn to ask again.
After looking at him debating it for a couple seconds she decided on truth since she really didn’t want to get up from her seat.
“What’s the biggest age gap you have had with a sexual partner?” Everyone looked taken aback by that question. Sure there had been some more personal and sexual questions but they had been between friends that had been close so people knew it was okay to ask. But no one really knows Emma as well beside Sara so no one knew if that was something she was okay with answering, or for that matter if she even had lost her V-card.
“5 years.” She answered simply not really caring what people thought. She had never really cared that much for what people thigh or knew about stuff like this.
In her old friend group in Sweden they had never really cared about it and had been very open about everything. So when someone asks she almost always answers with no other thought behind it.
However these guys did not seem to be prepared for this and was now looking shocked at her. If it was for her honesty with no hesitation behind it or if it was because of the answer itself, was not clear.
“Wait what. You haven’t told me about that.” Sara looked over to her. She wasn't shocked that she had no problem answering the question.
“Yes I have.”
“When?”
“Winter break.” Sara just looked at her confused, not remembering this at all. “Albin. The guy from Lund.” She tried to make her remember.
After looking at her confused for a couple more seconds it seemed to click and Sara remembered the guy Emma had met up with a couple times last winter break when they had gone home to Sweden. “Ahh, right. I had totally forgotten about that. He was 5 years older?” She did not seem to remember that information however.
“Yeah, and I did tell you about that too.” She went on.
“I don’t remember that.” She tries to remember but it does not come back to her.
“Wait, how are you two so chill about talking about this?” Mary seemed to be the first to come back to her senses to ask.
The two girls looked over at her. “Why wouldn’t we be? Like who really cares that much.”
“It’s just… Sure some are fine with talking about it openly with close friends, but not to be like that, but we aren’t really that close.” She explained.
“Sure, but it shouldn't be something people can’t talk about. If someone wants to keep it private, go ahead, but I don’t really care. Especially when it’s just about a one night stand or something.” Emma told them. This is normal for her but she of course respects everyone's boundaries if they wouldn’t want to talk about it.
Everyone seemed to accept this answer and the games soon continued. They went on with it for a while until more and more people got tired, some even falling asleep. When everyone got too tired for anymore Emma and Sara went home to sleep and wait for their dreadful hangover they were gonna have.
