Who's up to some late night mischief?
Charlotte’s POV
Once again, the autumn is here, and I find myself just rolling in my sheets. Insomnia, can't you go away? I pleaded in my head. Then I just gave up and decided to sneak out to the kitchen to get some tea. With my wand in hand, I slipped through the doors of my common room and when I got in the hall, I whispered Lumos. The end of my wand now shined with a dull light that would not disturb the portraits and got on my way to the painting of a large bowl of fruit. I tickled it gently, pear giggled, and the handle appeared. I earnestly entered. The elves greeted me, as they knew me by name, and after our short chit-chat, I was given my favourite tea. I could always count on them even in the middle of the night.
As I was relaxing, the doors to the kitchen opened, to my surprise it was the girl I met on the train at the start of the school year. “Lizz?” I acknowledged her. “Oh! Hi Charlotte, it's good to see you again. How’s the night going?” Once again, even in the middle of the night, she was as hyper as ever. “If it would be good, I’d be sleeping,” I sighted with a soft smile on my lips. She nodded mindfully and asked the elves for a cup of coffee at which I lifted my eyebrows in question. “Really?” She chuckled and shrugged. “Caffeine doesn’t affect me that much, so why not? I love coffee the way you seem to enjoy your tea,” she winked at me. “And maybe I can’t do some mischief when I’d be half asleep.” “Mischief?” I stared at her in disbelief. “Yes, of course. I need to prank Weasley before he pranks me,” was her answer. “You mean the twins?” “Yep, my sweet Hufflepuff. Fred and I have had this war going on since our second year. And I won’t be the one who loses. Would you like to help me?” She smiled wickedly and that’s the exact time I figured, what house she might be in.
The Twins, against whom I played in Quidditch, were from Gryffindor which happened to be the house that had this beef going on with one and only house. “You’re from Slytherin?” I asked, not answering yet to her offer. “Yep, I haven't told you?” When I shook my head, she continued. “I’m sorry, will it be a problem?” She asked sheepishly as we both knew the reputation her house has. I considered it for a few minutes but then I gave her answers to both questions. “I don’t really care about which house you're from, what matters is your behaviour towards me, and… I think I have some free time to roam the halls, if you don’t leave me somewhere,” I laugh slightly. “I really don’t want to spend some time with Mrs. Norris or Filch either, so that won't be a problem,” with a wink and downing her cup of coffee, she offered me a hand. “So, let’s go on some adventure.” Maybe the glint in her eyes should have told me to stay away from her, but she was also the one person, with whom I could talk about things I could not with anyone else. “Let’s hope Satan has saved us some seats down there,” I mumbled. “Oh, don’t worry, we will have the best ones.”
