Chapter 2

After a few weeks of living together, James and Regulus had developed a sort of good. It turned out that they along quite nice. Including the playful fights they continue to get into to, which was hugely enjoyable to both parties. Obviously, not including the small growing crush that Regulus had on James. But that's not important. Not at all.

And with this relationship, they'd developed a kind of morning routine. A nice calm routine. A routine that got both of them where they need to be when they need be there, without the rush.

No, that's a lie.

Their mornings were rarely not chaotic. Whether, someone took too long in the shower or their alarm didn't go off. Something always went wrong.

Like this morning, when Regulus had missed his alarm and was rushing to get a sweater over his head. He'd been studying all of last night and had barely gotten a wink of sleep.

When he finished getting dressed and packing his things, he grabbed his bag and ran into the kitchen, where he saw James making breakfast. James turned and smirked at him. "Morning, sleepyhead." Regulus glared but his gaze turned into one of longing as it fell down onto the food, "you gonna eat?" James asked, putting a piece of toast in the toaster.

"No, sorry, I gotta go." He sighed, he wanted desperately to eat but then he remembered, "oh shit, I'm late!" He groaned running out the door. He could faintly hear James' barking laughter from behind him.

The boy ran across the street -to the college. He ran through the halls until he got to his own lecture room. Regulus straightened himself and knocked on the door.

"Come in!"  He heard his teachers voice from inside. He quickly opened the door, apologies ready on the tip of his tongue. But, instead of a disrupted class, it was empty. There was noone here. He looked around with a confused look.

"Can I help you, Mr black?" His professors voice came questioningly. "Wher- where is class?" He asked , still looking around the empty room.

His professor furrowed his brows. "You mean the special class we're having tonight?" The middle-aged man questioned, wearily, "tonight at ten?"

Realisation hit him like a bucket of ice water. "To see the stars properly.." Regulus muttered under his breath, silent kicking himself. He'd skipped James' food for nothing. He looked down at his watch, and now it would be a waste to go back.

He turned to his professor, "anyway, I'm very sorry. I'll see you tonight." Regulus said on his way out the door.  The dark haired boy closed the door behind him and for a moment just stood, thinking of what to do now.

He decided that he'd just chill for a while, relax a bit. And he did for the next ten minutes until his next classes.

And it proved slightly useful, because, as it turns out, Regulus' schedule was absolutely jam packed with lectures, he barely got a moment to breath. He practically had to run to get to each class on time. And then that astronomy class that at night, he nearly fell asleep. And he only managed to get home at about half past eleven. To say he was exhausted would be an understatement.

Regulus slowly and carefully tiptoed inside, he made sure to close and open the door softly, as to not wake James. He was careful, he swore he was. Atleast he thought so, until. "Reggie?" James asked from his room, "Reggie, is that you?"

Regulus cursed under his breath before answering, "yeah, it's me." He took his bag off from over his shoulder, "did I wake you?" He asked. James responded casually, "no, I've been studying all night. " Regulus nodded to himself, "you know I got that test next week?" James reminded him.

Regulus made an 'oh' sound. He'd remembered talking to James about that the other day.

He toed off his shoes and all but collapsed on the couch. He sighed contently, burying his head in the pillow. Generally, his own bed was more comfortable but right now he wasn't sure that, even he did try, he would be able to make it all the way there. He would most likely fall down in the middle of the passage.

There was the distant sound of James' laughter. "Tired?" He asked. Regulus just groaned into the pillow, earning himself another laugh from James.

Regulus readjusted himself, settling into a new, more comfortable, position. Just as he had begun to drift off, he heard James entering the room. "Are you hungry or-" James turned to see Regulus lying on the couch, "oh." Regulus could practically hear the smile in his voice.

The next thing he felt was a blanket being draped over him and James hand coming up to gently caress his cheek in such a way that had butterflies fluttering around Regulus' stomach.

Regulus was aware that James was a naturally touchy, affectionate, kind of guy. And, honestly, he didn't mind. Like at all. If anything, he quite enjoyed when James rested his hand on Regulus' thigh or rubbed circles onto the palm of his hand.

That was normal. But this, this was different this seemed weirdly loving and more affectionate than even James usually is.

Now, Regulus knew that he could open his eyes or say something. Just to make James aware that he had yet to fall asleep. But he didn't. He simply couldn't bring himself to. Especially when James was leaning in to place a soft, delicate kiss on his forehead.

Surpringly, Regulus didn't tense or shoot up. But his mind did start racing.

'what the fuck is going on?' 'is James gay?' 'does he like me?' 'is this something he does to all his friends/roommates?'

But his thoughts were cut short, as James' hand continued to caress his cheek slowly. Gently, pushing him onto the edge of sleep. He tried his best to fight it and figure this out. But James was so calm and soothing. He just couldn't help it. After a few minutes, he was dead asleep.

He knew he'd panic this in the morning but right now he was tired and James was sitting with him. So, this was something he'd obsess about in the morning.
