Hot Chocolate By the Fireplace - Wolfstar
After a whole day in the snow, Remus is cold. And Sirius smells kind of like a wet dog, but Remus doesn’t mind. Remus finds Sirius trying to light a fire in the fireplace without using magic - because James dared Sirius to go a whole month without using magic. Sirius does not manage to light the fire, so Remus moves to his side and guides him.
“You want to put crumbled newspaper at the bottom and put the lighter wood on top of it,” Remus whispers in Sirius’ ear. Sirius does as instructed, tearing out a page of newspaper, crumbling it into a ball, and putting it in the fireplace. He then takes the lighter wood and makes a nice cartoon bonfire triangle shape.
“That will not burn. You want them to touch the paper,” Remus whispers in Sirius’ ear again. Sirius moves the lighter wood so it’s lying on the crumbled newspaper.
“Good, now, take the heavier wood - two pieces should do for now - and put them on top of the lighter wood,” Remus whispers. Sirius grabs two pieces of firewood and puts them in.
Remus finds some matches and hands the box to Sirius. “Light about three and add them into the paper,” he whispers in Sirius’ ear. Sirius does as told, and soon after, they’ve got a fire.
“Good job,” Remus says, smiling slightly at his husband. Sirius pecks Remus’ lips and then looks Remus in the eyes.
“You’re cold.”
“No, I’m alright,” Remus tries. “No, you’re really cold, Moony!” Sirius says, getting up and heading for the kitchen. He throws a couple of blankets and some pillows towards Remus before he leaves again and returns with two mugs of hot chocolate.
Remus arranges the pillows and puts the blankets around the two, once Sirius sits down behind Remus. Sirius makes it so Remus is halfway lying down with his back resting against Sirius’ chest. “Hot chocolate by the fireplace and cuddles. Just how you like to warm up,” Sirius says, stroking Remus’ hair.
