So this is Christmas
Summary
I am doing my own December writing challenge! I will be writing short one-shots based on 31 prompts with multiple ships and platonic/sibling relationships this month and I've decided to post them. These are also being posted on my Tumblr
Note
I am technically starting this a day late so prompts 1 and 2 are being posted today, obviously, I am hoping to update this every day but I also might just upload like 5 on a Friday. I will be writing about multiple ships but idk who I will be writing about until I write each prompt so the tags will be updated as I go, I highly doubt any prompt will make me write a lot so most will be short.I will put the prompt and the ship in each title :) hope you enjoy!

christmas tree- Jegulus

“Reg, I’m home!” James called from the front door causing Regulus to look up from his book. “Can you come here a minute?” He calls, his voice slightly strained as if he’s carrying something heavy.

“You know, you really should consult me before you just-” Regulus comes to a complete halt as he takes in the sight before him. James is standing in his thick winter jacket, a bright red beanie pulled right down over his ears, and attempting to drag a large tree through their front door “What are you doing?”

James drops the tree and straightens to beam at Regulus, walking over to kiss him quickly, trekking wet boot-prints along the hallway. “It’s a Christmas tree!”

“Why are you trying to bring a tree into our house” Regulus laughs, looping their arms as he looks at the tree lodged in their doorway. James kisses him again before leaning his head back and groaning dramatically, moving to try and grab the tree once more.

“I can’t believe you’ve never celebrated Christmas, Sirius loved it when he discovered it” Regulus just shrugs, smiling softly as James helplessly tries to make the tree fit through the door.

“I’ve just never really been a fan of it.”

“I’m going to change that I promise,” James speaks in a way that makes Regulus believe him, he speaks so honestly that he can tell Regulus the sky is pink and he’d rethink his knowledge of the colours. Regulus had always known Christmas to be full of stuffy ballrooms, silent meals with glares and pointed coughs every time someone stepped slightly out of line, he had always hated it.

James was making him love it. James had made him believe in love again.

“James.”

“Yeah?” James didn’t look around this time, still tugging and twisting the tree in a futile attempt to make it fit.

“I love you,” James freezes, hand going limp, dropping the tree with a small thud. Regulus’ smile drops and his heart stops, he hadn’t even meant to say it, it had just slipped out. There was something about the way he was so earnestly trying to get the ridiculous tree in with the intent of making Regulus fall in love with something so pure and wonderful.

Regulus panics, he isn’t sure why or where he can even go but he needs to get out of there. He turns sharply on his heel and goes to bolt through the kitchen to lock himself in the bedroom but is stopped by James grabbing him by the elbow.

“Reg, you can’t say things like that when I’m not even looking at you.” James laughs, turning him around and holding him close to him. He leans down and kisses Regulus slowly, one hand cupping Regulus’ cheek. He pulls away, looking at Regulus in pure adoration, so loving that it makes his heartbeat speed up.

“You know I love you, right?” Of course, Regulus does, James has never struggled to tell him that, he would scream it from the roof-tops if he even doubted Regulus knew that, so he nods, and James beams, kissing him again before they turn back to the doorway.

“Come on,” Regulus drags James back over there, and they both peer down at the Christmas tree “We really need to figure this out, it’s getting cold.”
