Lover

Everything was fine. Regulus was sipping his water as he put his bag on the shelf. Everything was fine. Right up until James Potter waltzed into the room with presumptuous grin on his face. Why was he always so happy? Regulus thought to himself, Stupid Potter with his stupid grin that warmed him up in a strange way. Stupid Potter with his chocolatey, warm hazel eyes which shone like gold glinting in the sunlight. Stupid Potter who lit up a room by walking into it. Stupid Potter with with his heart purer than a cloud at the crack of dawn. Stupid Potter with his messy, disheveled hair that Regulus had the sudden urge to run his hands through and his lips, oh, this soft, pink lips, he just wanted to - no.He did not have feelings for his brother's best friend. No! He knew James was hot but not so-hot-I-have-feelings-for-him hot.Or a dancer. Regulus of all people knew what. So what was he doing at Regulus elite dance school with his crooked glasses irritatingly hanging off his face? He didn't know. Oh, how he wanted to walk over and fix his glasses, but he didn't because he still DID NOT have feelings for his brother's best friend. That's all the James was to him. Not his crush or any thing else. And returning from the depth of his thoughts, Regulus watched Sirius strut in after him. Of course. Those two were practically attached at the hip. It was extremely annoying, why couldn't they both leave him alone? He didn't an answer. Regulus hated not having answers to important questions. Especially when they involved his so called brother. They annoyed him immensely.

They nearly annoyed him more than the sight of his brother slowly replacing him bit by bit. He didn't realise that this was only the beginning of his troubles.

"Regulus," His dance teacher, Madame Smith chorused in a mellifluous chime,"There's someone I'd like you to meet."

Oh no. "This is James Potter," James waved awkwardly from behind Madame Smith, "it is your job to tutor him as he is new." With that she turned on her heel and walked to the front of the room.

"Okay everyone, " she clapped her hands "as you may have noticed, we have a new student here. This is James Potter and you will try your best to make him feel welcome here, yes?"

"Yes Madame Smith." everyone chorused.

"Okay get ready with the partners I have assigned you with, they are up on the board."

"Today we will be doing a slow dance, as we've been practicing, to a more modern song than the ones we've been dancing to."

Then she walked over to the speakers and started choosing a song. Please not a love song, please, he prayed as the ones they practiced were all love songs. 'Lover' by Taylor Swift started playing, Great, absolutely amazing. As everyone got into their positions, he whispered in James' ear "You better not step on my toes, Potter."

"Can't make any promises now," the other boy leaned down to whisper back.

Regulus distracted himself by looking out the window to stop his mind from conjuring up unholy thoughts about the way James' breath felt on his skin as Madame Smith restarted the song, gesturing for everyone to be ready.

Then they began to dance. Not ten seconds in, Regulus felt a sharp pain in his foot." Ow, what the hell," he hissed at James

"Sorry," he replied sheepishly

"Whatever, spin me." And Regulus spun.

"Ow, you've done it again!"

"I didn't mean to!"

"Whatever"

Regulus glared at James with murder in his eyes every time he got his toes stepped on, replied with a muttered 'Sorry' from the other boy.

As the song ended and Regulus started to walk away, a hand shot  out and grabbed his wrist. "Can I, maybe, um, could I , uh, -"

" Get to the point , Potter." he crossed his arms and tapped his foot with impatience.

"Okay, okay, can I get your number?"

"Why?"

"Because we're friends?" James rubbed the back of his neck, nervous.

"Since when?"

"Uh, now?"

Regulus rolled his eyes, "Okay fine." That gleam returned to James' eyes, making them look even more like chocolate- what was happening to him? He never noticed such absurd things about James before. He definitely did not have a crush on James of all people. No. But he would admit he thought James was hot. End of. He was hot, nothing else. Regulus had eyes, not a crush, like how he would say his best friend ,Remus, was fit and have no romantic feelings for him. Maybe he did once but not anymore after he realised his best friend was smitten with his brother, anyway, that was not why he stopped liking Remus, it was because they kissed once when they were drunk and it just didn't feel right , then they never did it again. Simple. James was straight. Even if Regulus did like him, which he did not, he didn't have a chance. James was straight and going after Lily Evans. He knew Lily Evans wasn't straight and didn't like James, but still, just because she didn't like James didn't mean that James didn't like her. He also knew that Lily and Pandora Lovegood liked eachother but we're just too oblivious to spot it, but that was the least of his concerns. James did not like Regulus, maybe platonically , but not romantically. Regulus did not like James.
