Chapter 12: Magic, If only it could make me disappear
It took Louis everything in him not to burst into tears right there and then, but he held back and instead closed his eyes and whispered a response.
“You don’t mean that”
When he opened his eyes again Harry was turned away from him, his eyes now facing the night sky.
“But I do Lou I- I- I don’t know, whenever I’m around you I feel so free, like its where im meant to be, and when I’m not with you I find myself thinking of you and wishing I was with you” Harry stuttered out at a lightning pace
He then sat up.
“And I don’t know what any of it means but you’re ALWAYS there, you’re there in my dreams, you’re there in my mind when I first wake up, you’re my last thought when I go to sleep, merlin I used your name in all my stories, you’re initials in all my equations!”
It was Louis’ turn to sit up now, responding to Harry at an equally fast pace.
“Haz you don’t get it, you can’t feel that way for me-”
“You’ve never called me haz before”
Louis and harry were now both standing
“-it wouldn’t work everyone loves you, you’re, you’re popular and smart and i’m me and you’re parents I just-”
“You’ve never called me haz before”
“-and honestly maybe it’s my fault from getting too close to you and too attached but I don’t want this for you you would be so unhappy I know you would-”
“Lou-”
“And and and can’t you see harry we wouldn’t work even how much I want it, how much I need it it just wouldn’t work because I love you!”
And suddenly the earth went quiet. A tree dare not rustle a branch, a deer dare not trip and fall. It was as if the whole world knew the gravity of this moment, how much it meant to these two young men, because for them, this moment right here may have well been the whole world. When Louis had fully realised the gravity of what he had said he backed away slightly and bowed his head down. He let himself breathe for the first time in what felt like forever and a tear began to roll down his cheek. Is this what it felt like… to have thrown away everything you have loved? To ruin the one thing that truly makes you happy?
But Harry was not to be deterred; he stepped closer until both their foreheads were touching and ran his finger over louis’ cheek, wiping away the tear that had materialised there. Louis allowed himself to open his eyes, coming face to face with the most beautiful creature he had ever seen. He took in everything, what a sight to see Harry was, he had never seen him this close. Been granted the pleasure of seeing every individual fleck in his eyes, the rosiness of his cheeks and the freckles that could rival the constellations in the sky.
“Kiss me Louis” Harry whispered
And before he could stop himself Louis was kissing harry.
The world around them seemed to fade away as their lips met, igniting a fire that had long been smouldering between them. Time stood still, and in that stolen moment, Louis felt a connection that transcended the boundaries of friendship of romance even. It was like nothing the muggle nor wizarding world had ever experienced. The kiss spoke volumes, conveying emotions that had been buried deep within their hearts. Harry's lips were soft and warm, and as they moulded together, it was as if the universe had conspired to bring them to this point. Louis surrendered himself to the intoxicating dance of their lips, savouring the taste of a forbidden desire that had finally found its expression. In that stolen kiss, a new chapter began for Harry and Louis, one filled with untold possibilities and the promise of a love that had been silently yearning to be acknowledged.
When the two finally separated for air Louis attempted to start a conversation
“Haz”
“Shh, don’t ruin the moment lou, you’re here with me and that’s all that matters”
And so the two once again slept under the night sky, closer than they had ever been before, Louis curled up in Harry’s arms. Louis could feel the steady rise and fall of Harry's chest, a rhythmic reassurance that mirrored the newfound harmony between their souls. As they lay beneath the same stars that had witnessed their journey, the gravity of their connection deepened. The world may have shifted around them, but the unbreakable bond they shared remained an anchor, grounding them in a love that defied the passage of time. So much has changed yet nothing had at all, all Louis knew was
He was home.
