Malfoy´s POV

When Severus, the godfather of his only heir Draco first came to him with the fact, that Harry Potter was missing and Dumbledore blocked everything about the boy, Lucius had been furious. He had still contacts in the ministry and held a sit on the board of the school. He was also a part of the Department for Children and Child Safety. Which meant, he was supposed to have access to the file of every magical child in the UK. But for some reason, they didn´t have a file on Harry Potter.

Playing out all his contacts, after months of searching, he finally found the file and was horrified.

The files in the Department for Children and Child Safety were magically connected to the people working there. Meaning, that they would alerted if a child with magic tendencies was abused, so they could help. Depending on the type of abuse the file would change colors. Letting them know how important and time-sensitive it was to help the child. Normally they were green. Children of parents who punished their kids from time to time turned yellow. Orange, when the department needed to fix things. Red files meant, that the child needed help immediately. And black usually meant, that they were too late.

Since Potter´s file had been missing, nobody had been alerted. When Lucius finally got his hand on it, just a day, before they were planning on taking Dumbledore down, he was horrified. If it wouldn´t have been for Severus, he would have appeared immediately to get the child to safety. Screwing up everything, they had worked for in the last four months.

Harry Potters's file was the darkest red, a file had ever turned.

The day after, he had taken off. Dumbledor had been arrested and would face the full force of the law at the beginning of the new year. And Severus was collecting the child. But Lucius couldn´t relax until he knew, that the child was safe.

He was pacing in their living room. Draco and Narcissa watched him anxiously. They knew something was up, but he hadn´t told them what yet.
“Lucius?”, Narcissa started, not knowing how to continue. But Lucius, like always knew what she was asking, without her having to say it.

“You remember, when Draco told us, that Harry Potter wasn´t at the sorting?”, he started. When both his wife and heir nodded, he continued.

“Well, Severus came to me. Asked me for help. He, Minerva, and Lupin were trying to find the child. He is Severus' other godson after all. But they didn´t get anywhere. When he asked, I agreed, but Potter´s file was missing. We discovered it yesterday and… and…” He couldn´t speak further. The list of abuse, the boy had to live through his whole life, was to long and brutal to recall.

“Oh Lucius!”, Narcissa stated and offered him a calming hand on his shoulder. He paused in his pacing and looked at her. She and his son.
Draco was just a few months older than Harry was supposed to be. He tried to imagine, Draco in Harry´s place, but he just couldn´t. How could anyone harm a child? Or know about it and encourage it? What the heck was Dumbledore thinking?

Snape chose that moment to apparate into their living room. The man had agreed to that, in case Hogwarts still wasn´t safe. Since Dumbledor had been arrested, the children had been sent home. The board of school hoped to sort the mess out until the new year, but Lucius was less optimistic then his colleagues.

Severus looked at Lucius. Tears in his eyes. And Lucius knew immediately, that something was wrong. His friend never cried. Hadn´t, when he learned about Lily´s death. Not when Voldemort had tortured him to test his loyalty. Not when he had discovered, what his godson was living through.

When Lucius laid eyes on the small bundle in Severus' arms, he knew why. The boy could easily be mistaken as a five year old. And even then he would still be on the smaller side. He was completely naked and his small body was littered with scars and wounds. His rips were painfully prominent.

Narcissa took a deep breath behind them and Lucius could hear his son sniff.

Harry was away from his abusers, but he wasn´t safe yet. Lucius knew, that the boy would have a long way in front of him. Aside from the physical side, he was probably traumatized.

But Lord Malfoy also knew that Severus wouldn´t leave him. Nothing in the world could part him from his godson again. And Lucius swore to himself, to do anything to protect those two.
